These are a great pair of boots and I'm very pleased with my purchase! As soon as I took them out of the box, I could tell they were solidly well-made. I have slim calves, and needed a boot that wouldn't gap open at the top. Since these both zip and lace up, they were the perfect choice. Like another reviewer, I felt a little like Tomb Raider chick in them (confirmed by the hubby) tough looking and at the same time, really classy. I first ordered a 7 since some reviewers said the boot felt larger than marked. However, the 7 was too large for me (too much room in the toe area) so I returned them for a 6.5 and those are a much better fit. To give you an idea for fit, I wear a size 6 in flats and a size 7 running shoe, so boots for me typically fall right in the middle at 6.5 so I can wear a thicker pair of socks with them. These boots aren't particularly tall, ending just at the largest part of the calf, but for me this length is very flattering. I am only 5'1" and tall boots overwhelm my small frame, so a close-fitting boot that's at mid-calf is really perfect for me. If you have large or muscular calves, you may have trouble with the length of the laces if you plan to lace all the way up. I have enough lace leftover to tie a bow, but not much extra. In other words, if you need to let out the laces some to accommodate for your calves, you may want to invest in another pair of longer laces. Another reviewer mentioned how the tongue isn't attached all the way up the inside of the boot. I see the logic in the design, because if you want to "punk out" the boots a little by letting the tongue loll and leaving laces undone, it wouldn't be do-able if the tongue was attached all the way to the top of the boot. While pricey, these boots were a great buy because they can be dressed up or down, and worn with dresses, leggings and skinny jeans. They're also versatile for weather: you can totally wear these through the fall and winter without being ruined in the rain and snow...just don't go tramping through snowdrifts or anything. :-) Oh, one final thought: these are very comfortable boots and so far no blisters of any sort. They are only a tiny bit stiff, but the great part is they won't slouch at the ankle like a lot of boots, because these are solidly constructed. I am sure they will become even more comfortable over time. Thanks Zappos for the always amazing service! :-)

I'm happy with these boots but they are taking some breaking in. I normally wear a size 9, but occasionally have to size up a half size (in Keen and some Privo's), but I've never had to purchase a wide shoe. These boots are very snug through the ball of the foot area and the heel. I had to wear them only a few hours at a pop for the first 10 times or so. I adjusted the laces, which helped some, but they are still very snug around my foot and not as comfortable as I'd like. I have plenty of room in my toes though, so I'm not sure if sizing up a half size would help the fit or not. In contrast, I have the Charles Street Lexiss in the same size and they were very comfortable immediately. I love the look of these. They are sort of a sophisticated combat boot, and you can wear them snug all the way to the top or open the laces and pull the tongue out for a more "street" look. Great tread makes them practical for walking in icy New England.

These shoes are nice. But they are a bit tight fitted so you might choose a wider shoe, I never wore wide shoes but I wished that I would have selected wider boots here!

First off, these boots are amazing! They fit well and with the laces you can adjust the tightness of the boot around your foot and calf to get the perfect fit. I bought these boots to go tramping around south america in and they were perfect. I would wear them all day and they were not only functional but comfortable as well. And aside from all that, I can't even begin to tell you how many compliments I've received on them. I don't think I've ever had a pair of shoes get so much attention! I love them and I think I'm probably going to have to get them in a second color! They may be pricy, but these are quality shoes-you get what you pay for!

I love these boots! I was looking for lace-up military style boots, but I did not want anything too heavy or chunky, something a teenager would wear (I am a 40 year old housewife). These are perfect. They are just edgy enough with the laces and buckle, but the toe and heel are more refined and sophisticated. They are super comfortable and, of course, being Timberland, they are very well made. They are well worth the price.

These are the most comfortable shoes! No breaking in was needed; it was as if the shoe was custom-made. I had ordered these in my usual US 8.5, completely forgetting that I wear thick socks with this type of footwear, so I was fearful the boots would be too small. But it was a perfect fit. The leather and workmanship are of good quality too. Now for the negatives, and this is only from the view of my motorcycle-riding. The tread is non-slippery but is rather shallow. I see myself wearing these out within a year. The calf section barely covers my calf and my calves are moderately sized. Knowing what I know now, I'd still order them; they're that comfortable!

So sad! Received this boot and absolutely love it! Got it in brown and sized up 1/2 size as the reviews say they run small. However, they were so narrow, I could not even squeeze my foot in and so sad :(

Love my boots! I have wide calves but this work just fine. I sometimes take an 8 1/2 but these are 9 and fit perfect! Comfy! I wore them all night and my feet were happy dappy. And the guy I went on a date with gave them many thumbs up.

I am so happy with these boots! They feel good they look good easy to get on with the zip, I have a high arch hard to do the pull on boot. Good support my feet don't hurt after standing and walking all day. They are also light and well made.

This is not a wide width. This is extremely narrow. If you need a wider shoe, this boot will not work.

These were supposed to be a D-Wide. I barely managed to get one boot on and took it off right away feeling very much like one of Cinderella's ugly stepsisters. Then I measured the D? width against the B width of my own old boot. The new "wide" boot was 1/4" narrower than my old regular width boot. These are nice looking boots but either I was sent a narrow instead of a wide or they are mis-sized. I'm disappointed.

Finally, I have found my first pair of "skinny calf" boots that are not $300 or more, yay Zappos! Pictures & video do not do this boot justice, it's really good looking, not as rugged as pictured. I bought the dark brown & it's a rich dark chocolate color, also well made boot, I get tons of compliments every time I wear these! Perfect fit right out the box. I usually wear a size 9 in dress shoes, sandals & boots, true to size. I am usually a difficult fit, thin calves and flat narrow feet, these are super comfy right out out of the gate. I wearing them with everything: skinny jeans, tights, leggings etc. usually just a med weight sock works. Buckle at ankle is adjustable which helps getting the perfect fit along with laces then zip & go! Nice snug fit with no gaping at top. (FYI, I'm 5.9 120 lbs thin build, boot hits mid calf). If you have thick calves/legs, this is not the boot for you. Zappos offers tons of boots in "wide calf" but not many for us skinny legged girls, Thanks Zappos!

These boots are fantastic! I have very "wimpy" feet an hour walking around in shoes and they get sore so I usually just wear decent flip flops. I've been wearing these boots every couple of days since I received them, and have absolutely no screaming from my wimpy feet. (: For me, the moderate arch support is just perfect, any more or less and my feet would complain. I wear between 9.5 and 10.5 depending on the style and brand of shoe, and these 10's fit my feet just perfect. The toe box is big enough for my toes to wiggle around, but not so big that they feel lost in there. Heel is the same way. What I particularly love about these boots is how adjustable they are in the ankle and calf. My lower leg is very skinny, so I pull the laces as tight as they can go if I'm wearing a skirt/leggings, just a little looser for skinny jeans. For a wider calf, there is plenty of room to adjust, so no need to worry that there'd be gaps between the tongue and sides. For reference, 16" is as wide as it goes with no gap at the calf. The buckle at the ankle is also very adjustable. Bottom of my heel to the back bend of my knee is 17 inches, and the top of the boot is 7 inches below the bend of my knee (measurements taken sitting down.) The soles have excellent traction with deep "grooves" so these will be good in snow and on ice. Now that the technical stuff is out of the way... I've worn these with skirts (long flowy; short tight; medium A-line), skinny jeans, leggings, and boot cut jeans. They look terrific with all of them, and work well with almost any look - hippy, goth, casual, semi-dressy, retro... you get the idea. The boot cuts I wore untucked. These are comfortable on a bare leg, no need for tall socks - there is no painful rubbing or chafing at all. My feet also run "hot", but I didn't have any swimming in sweat (sorry for the visual!) These boots would also work for men, but on a woman depending what you're wearing, they come off as moderately feminine. (: I really can't say enough good about these boots, as I said above, they're fantastic and I'm very picky about what my feet can handle!

I love these boots. They're rugged, yet stylish so they easily transition from work to play. Extremely comfortable too for a combat boot style which I usually find stiff and heavy or without much arch support. I can last all day in these - whether standing still or running around, they feel great on. I love that they have a zipper as well as laces from top to bottom, so it can be easily adjustable around the ankles and calves. I'd gladly purchase these again and again and also in the other colors available. Really versatile boot!

Boots are comfortable and super cute! I went a half size per other reviews but that was not needed. Their boots should fit true to size. My foot is not swimming enough to send them back, I can live with a little extra room.

These Timberlands are great! I was about to give up looking for boots because nothing seemed to be tight enough around my skinny calves or narrow enough for my feet. The laces make it easy to adjust to your calf size and although these are not really "narrow", they're narrow enough to be snug without needing thick socks. Usually I have to add arch supports to my shoes, but these provide enough support to be extremely comfortable after an entire day of running around. I also love the generous toe box. These aren't only comfortable and made well, but they are so cute! I have the brown ones and I get multiple compliments every time I wear them.

I read the other reviews of these and ordered an 8 (I usually wear 7½) and they fit perfectly. I am definitely the kind of person who lives in boots, and these are ones I know will last a long time. The leather is fairly stiff, so if you are not used to that, it might take some adjustment. I love that they have a stacked heel and traction, most boots I have worn are slick on the bottom. They are sort of a perfect mix of military and riding boots. I have been living in these for almost a week and have zero complaints and already received a ton of compliments. They are just great!

I hesitated awhile before purchasing these boots but I must say, this is the best boot purchase I've made in the last few years. The quality is excellent, they are super comfortable and above all, they look rich and go with a multitude of my clothes. Don't hesitate they are well worth the price.

These boots are way cool. They are true to size, as I am a size 7. Even my husband liked them! I'm just disappointed that they are made in China.
