Customer Reviews French Sole Zeppa Flat

I ordered a size up in this shoe and it fit perfect. It is a really comfortable shoe but not as stylish as I wanted.

For fit/foot comparison: I am a true 8.5, medium width but for a small tailor's bunion developing on the small toe side of each foot, very high arches, high instep. I tend towards over pronation and walk with a first metatarsal drop (meaning I strike the ground with the big toe side of my foot first, especially when running) for which I have compensatory orthotics. I wanted to find a comfortable pair of flats with a bit of a heel to toe drop (not flat as a board). I always have to put in an arch "cookie" for support, but if the shoe is sized well, I can usually fit them in. As other reviewers have noted, these run *very* small. I ordered up a half size to a 9, and they were *still* too small in both length and width. The leather is buttery soft, just like what you would expect from a quality ballet shoe. The heel to toe drop really improves the feel of the flat, giving it a tad more style from a true flat. I wish the fit was better, but, alas, back they go...

The black julep print is great. I have always wanted to try French Sole, but these just didn't work for me. They are cut too high over the bunion area for me, and I really wasn't sure if they would stretch for my feet. I have narrow feet but moderate bunions and this is a problem for me in many shoes. If you like French Sole, get the black julep print. I loved it!

Very soft material and extra wedge plus shine adds a dressy touch to this flat. For a shoe in this price range and constructed of such soft material, I expected it to be much more comfortable. I generally wear a size 8 and had to purchase a size 9 in this shoe. The toe on my larger left foot hit the very edge, but the heel area was wide, so overall it's not a good fit. I like the look, but wish I had not kept this shoe because it just doesn't fit well and it's not very comfortable.

I have an older pair of Zeppas that I LOVE. The vamp comes up nice and high, and so they do not 'bite' into sides and tops of my toes like ballet flats generally do. However, these Zeppas are not the same. They do not come up as far onto my foot, so they still hit me on the tops of the boney/tendon parts of my forefoot. Could work great for others, but I have a lot of volume in my toes, so this is a big issue for me. I went with the Vaneli Ganet, instead.

I am faced with having to retire these shoes, even though I haven't had them for a full year. While they are cute and look great on my feet, I need ballet flats that I can walk 1-1/2 miles in at a time. These shoes lack cushioning and arch support to do so. I wore these for my 2-mile round-trip walk to the work the other day and woke up with painful, inflamed heels 24 hours later. This was my first pair of French Soles and I will not buy a second pair. They're just not worth it.

Very supple and pretty, but run very small. I usually wear a 7, I ordered a 7.5 based on reviews, and my toes were still a bit crammed against the shoe tip.

I have fairly standard size 8, medium width feet. The tops of these cut into my feet when I first got them - ouch. They have stretched out (I did quite a bit of tugging) so they are comfortable now. No arch support or padding so not something I would wear if I was doing a lot of standing or walking. They are cute and I have gotten compliments - everyone likes the sparkly leather.

Very flimsy feel to this shoe. Didn’t care for it at all

I typically wear a 9.5, bought a 10, and that was too tight.

Felt too tight and I don’t have fat feet.

The leather is yummy soft but toe space is minimum. I could not get on.

These shoes are overrated. I read all the reviews and was excited for my first pair and I was highly disappointed. They squeak when I walk and it feels as though there is wood or something hard in the sole. Not worth the $100+.... sending back.

This is my first try with this brand. I ordered my usual 7½, but that is too short. I do not have wide feet, but looking at the shoes from above, they make my feet look puffy. That is not an attractive look. And when you look closely, the small pattern on the toe area is aligned straight-on with one shoe and on the bias with the other. Not good quality control. They are not available in the next size larger and now I have lost interest. They are going back.

The material is nice, but the shoes are at least a half size smaller than my normal size. I also think the arch support is poor.

I've never received new shoes in such terrible condition. There marked a size 12. which they weren't. Plus they had a black substance all over the top/side. There was no top to the shoe box. Truly this was the worse experience I've ever had with your company

way too small. I know they say you have to break them in but I can't even walk in them. I love the way they feel in my hands, so I'm sizing up. Can't wait to get the right size. These are really good shoes. Just short.

I ordered an 8 and 81/2 in order to get the best fit. Neither pair was comfortable as the shoes were both to narrow in the toe box. I returned both pair. Disappointing fit.

These shoes are full size smaller. Even with the size up - still awkward in fit. The front comes up a bit too much for my liking and looks dowdy. The quality of the shoe is really nice and I loved the small wedge but they go back because they are just not comfortable.

I've purchased this shoes for several years. The pair I just purchased was absolutely horrible. There was no arch support and made my entire feet hurt within a few hours of wear. The quality of these shoes have declined.

I love FSNY shoes and own at least 20 pairs. However, for the past two years I have had to return every pair that I have bought because they have started running just enough smaller to not be comfortable. Zeppa, my most favorite style, just doesn't fit as it used to. I have read this comment from others and sadly must now agree with their comments. I fear that I will never buy another FSNY shoe. They are classic flats and the change in fit is very disappointing.

I just don't get these shoes. I tried my regular size (9), a half size up (9.5) and a full size up. The 9's - forget it; the 9.5s perfect width - too short (and I like close fitting shoes). So I ordered the 10 thinking they would be "just right" - length was okay - but they were seriously "baggy" in the toe box and heel - my foot was slippin' and slidin' and walking right out of 'em. I know from reading the reviews that they will stretch - but unfortunately, the length on the 9.5 was just too short for comfort. I have been lusting after these shoes for awhile now, and finally decided to treat myself. I am terribly disappointed.
