This is written for other skinny legged people. I actually found these boots online barely used, but I love Zappos and read all of the reviews here before I purchased them. I have always had the problem of trying to find boots that fit because many boots are so sloppy on my calves that they look like rain galoshes. I am 5'6 at 120lb. Many of the reviews of this boot said they were for people with big calves so I was worried these would not fit my leg. I decided to risk it and I love these boots. There is some wiggle room at the top, but they do not look sloppy. In the photos they are very straight, and like others have said they do slouch a bit, perhaps a bit more if they aren't fitted to your leg like a glove. I can fit skinny jeans in them, but because there is no zipper, I didn't feel like there was a lot of extra room. They are adorable with a skirt and tights. The leather is beautiful, the style is very fun and funky but extremely well made. This is my third pair of Frye's; I usually wear a size 8 in most shoes, but I wear a consistent 7.5 in Frye. Love these boots. I have a hard time finding boots that fit my calves, but these are awesome. They're comfortable, and I always get so many compliments on these!! I was originally put off by the price, but the more and more I thought about it, I really wanted to invest in a pair of great boots, and I'm glad that I did with these. They originally felt a little tight around the toes but after a couple of wears, they molded nicely to my feet and now fit like a glove. I can stand all day in these and my feet don't get tired. The heel is just the right height to give me a little lift and make my legs look great without wearing me out.

My husband bought Frye boots for me for Christmas several years ago, but I didn't like the style so exchanged them. I needed some grey boots and decided to look and see if Frye had anything I liked now. I fell in love with these immediately and, unfortunately, when I tried to order them learned they were not currently available at that time. When they did become available, Zappos sent me a notification and I purchased a size 6-1/2, which is my usual size. They were too small. I returned them and ordered a size 7, which fit perfectly. Also, they were immediately comfortable with no need to "break them in." I am so happy with these boots, which is a good thing because I know they'll last for years!

These boots are comfortable and so low maintenance. They feel like a glove. Easy to take on and off. I am normally a size 8, but got the size 7 and fits me perfectly.

I think I am in love! I started drooling over these boots in black when I first saw them on Zappos, late last summer. I spotted them at a local store and tried them on in a banana color, which I don't care for but was all that was available. I became disenchanted immediately. They looked awkward. The slouchy, shoe part looked weird and small with the leg part. Now I know it was the color that really put me off. After searching high and low for the perfect casual, comfy black boot, I never forgot about these beauties. After not finding anything for months I decided to take a chance and order the black. I hoped my favorite go to color would make it all better. Hooray! I don't think I am ever going to take these boots off my feet! I have a very feminine yet bohemian style and wear lots of dresses and skirts. These boots are made for that look. I don't own jeans, but if I did I wouldn't wear these over them. They are literally a beautiful yet super comfortable piece of art to wear on your legs. It would be a shame to cover up any part of them with a pant leg! They are my third pair of Frye boots and definitely a heirloom investment!

I bought the Carmen Harness Tall boot in "grey vintage veg tan" color, which was the only color on sale for 40% off. I had two concerns about this, the first being that the boot looks dark brown in the picture but the color says grey. I was hoping it would be more dark brown. The color is absolutely beautiful! Love the rustic dark brown color, has a bit of a vintage look but doesn't look like a "faux vintage" or purposely distressed- which I hate! My second concern was that the boot looked too shiny in the picture and I didn't want it looking like patent leather or just too shiny. The finish is great. Not too shiny at all, looks like it will be easy to clean but has more of a matte finish than in the picture. The fit was a little smaller than I expected. I am a true 7 1/2 and I think I will keep this size, but I think they will fit more comfortably once worn a little more. I have large calves and they fit but are snug- unfortunately I can't fit jeans under these boots, yet. I have tried on some Fryes that were a little loose in the calf and am definitely happier with them being a little snug because you can always have them stretched by a boot shop or just wait for them to loosen with wear, but I didn't want them too loose. Overall, I like them even better than expected and they definitely look better in person than online!

I love these boots! I bought these in black a few months ago and I loved them so much I saved up and got them in the tan waxed suede. I absolutely adore them! One thing I do have to note, the first pair I bought was a very supple soft leather. The "waxed" colors are a beautiful leather also, but are more distressed looking and are a stiffer leather. They are just as gorgeous but have a different feel to them. You have to try these boots!

These boots are awesome! They're my 3rd pair of Frye boot and the best, by far. Very soft leather and super comfy. The color is totally neutral, as they are a pale gray w/ a touch of a very pale tan. I've worn them w/ lots of colors and I get lots of compliments. I love these!

Frye Carmen Harness Tall in Light Tan Leather: sexy! I agree with another reviewer who suggests "If you can only buy 1 item for this year's Fall/Winter wardrobe, buy this boot!" It's absolutely stunning. Glides on without any resistance. Comfy & wearable. Looks high-heel, but without the pain. Leather is buttery. Color is neutral. Although Frye calls it "Light Tan", I call it regular "Sand/Tan". I'm 5'5", 145 lbs., muscular calves. Fits my larger calf perfectly. Comes all the way up just under my knee, & stays up just fine. Leather-lined. If the heaviness of other Frye boots bothers you, this is much lighter-weight, & may be a good selection. Sizing: Most/all Frye reviews suggest that Frye's run big, & that you should size down. I differ - had to go up a whole size. I am a size 9W in Frye open-back mules, Uggs, Naturalizer, & Propet sneakers. A Frye size 9 boot is just too small - size 10 boot fits me perfectly. I also found the similar Frye style "Jane-Tall-Cuff" boot, & am keeping both! I've never felt such comfy boots! If you are on the fence, don't hesitate. These will serve you in comfort & style indefinitely. They're keepers!

Zappos you rule! Great service and a beautiful boot. I purchased this boot in black and could not be more pleased. It's a sexy boot, not too tall, lovely soft leather. Very comfy. Perfect for us ladies who have bigger calves.

I absolutely love these boots. If you are on the fence about these, I would definitely give them a try. They are beautiful, with a soft supple leather and they are so comfortable; I can wear them all day and be happy. They are a dream to pull on and off. I have bigger calves and I can wear these over my skinny jeans no problem, although they would be beautiful with dresses and skirts too. If you only buy one item for your fall/winter wardrobe, make it these boots! They will not disappoint you!

These are definitely my new favorite boots. They are the most comfortable of all my Frye's and really sturdy. I have average sized calves and can easily wear these boots over jeans. Also they're easy to get on and off (with some of my other Frye's this is a major struggle). I ordered my usual size 8 and they fit perfectly. Overall great boot!

Great casual boot with a little broken in finish. Comfortable for my size 8.5 wider width foot. Great with casual dresses and fits fine under straight leg jeans. Will have for a lifetime.

I am hopelessly in love with these boots and want to wear them all the time, with everything. They are so soft and yet shapely, and a dream to slip on and off. My calves aren't fat but neither am I a stick figure, and I've had trouble in the past with so-called designer boots being impossible to wear because they seem to be made for women with no muscles in their legs. Not so with Frye boots. I bought the Carmen in dark brown and now long to have them in black, gray, and light tan as well. If you only buy one pair of boots this season, get these!

These may be my favorite Frye boots. They are very heavy/sturdy boots. Despite this, they are very comfortable and easy to walk in. They're the most comfy Fryes I own. The leather is very soft, but is thicker. The shaft is wide, making these easy to get off and on. I have thinner calves and I could fit skinnies and boot cuts into these.

These boots rock! I am the proud owner of 10 pair of boots purchased from Zappos, and these are my favorite. They are very comfortable, a great heel height, and they look terrific with jeans or skirts and tights. The color is brown, but there is a beautiful hint of dark pink to them and barely there, but it looks fabulous. These boots are a must have for fall.

I am in love! I bought these in light tan and wish I could get every color. The leather is amazing and they are so comfortable! If would go down a 1/2 size because good leather stretches! Enjoy!

These boots are so fabulous. They fit true to size and the boot shaft has plenty of room for tucking in any type of pant... you don't have to wear skinny legged jeans. They are comfortable and so cute with anything... leggings, jeans, skirts. I also was happy that the boot shaft comes up to the knee... they are a little extra taller than most boots. The distressed leather does not make them look Western... they have more of a stylish appearance. I got them in black and brown because I love them so much!

love, love, love, these boots!! They are the most comfortable boots I've ever had. I've tried a couple of other Frye styles and found them too stiff (and a little wide in the heel). The shaft of these boots is soft, supple and the fit is great. I've worn them all day, including a 1 mile walk with my dog....I'll be wearing them for years! P.S. I've marked excellent arch support and have "average arches. Wouldn't know about someone with real high arches. You'd just have to try them and see.

Oh man, I love these boots. I have the short ones, too. They're comfortable and look fabulous. I have a bad knee, but I can walk several miles in NYC and not feel too bad. The slightly rounded toe is really comfortable as well, no pinching (I added a cushioned insole, but it's not essential). The only thing I was not thrilled about was the fact that the heels wore down very fast, within the first month, and I had to put heel guards on them. Small inconvenience for such a good quality, great-looking boot.

I have never bothered to review anything, but am so thrilled with these boots, I just had to share. For those of you with bigger calves, you have found your boot! I love the heel height, the distressed leather, the look of quality and the comfort from the moment I slipped them on. They will make any outfit! I have been wanting Fryes for some time, and nervous about fit in my calf, and about price. I am so thrilled and will enjoy these for years! Thanks Zappos for excellent service as well!

These boots are gorgeous. I ordered the dark brown, and they are the perfect color to match just about everything in my closet. They're a little bit western-looking without going over the top. I can wear these in Texas, but I have no doubt I could also wear them in the summer when I go home to New York. The leather is soft and slightly distressed, causing the shaft of the boot to slouch a bit. If you're looking for something dressy, these boots might not be right for you. I first ordered a half size down because I heard Fryes ran big, but they turned out to be too snug in the toe. I exchanged them for a my normal size, which was very simple thanks to Zappos' great customer service. I know these boots are expensive, especially on my college student budget, but it's completely worth being slightly poor the rest of the semester because I look fabulous. These boots will not disappoint you.

These are absolutely flawless boots. I cannot get over how gorgeous they are, the styling is spot on and the leather is soft like butter. I have athletic calves so I'm delighted with the calves on these; they are just beautiful casual boots. The craftsmanship is great; I will probably have these suckers forever.
