Very hard toe box. Though the width seems to be right on, and they look nice on the foot, I'm sure I can live with the hard toe box, so back they are going. The length seems to be a smidge short also, but I'm not sure if it's a full half. :(

These are more sneakers than shoes or boots. I got them for summer hiking, and they will probably be fine for that; but when I stand for 20 minutes or more on hard surfaces (hardwood floor, shop floor) my feet start to hurt. So I am a little disappointed and will not be looking into any similar shoes from Merrell. I got a pair of boots from them in the early 90's and loved them; but these are nothing special.

I recently bought the elephant/pink color for a mild-pace walking tour. I ordered both my regular size (7) and a 7.5 as I wear heavier athletic socks for hiking. Either would have worked, but I kept the 7.5 as the toe box -- which has maintains width vs. narrowing -- gave my toes comfortable wiggle room without being too large. My only complaint is that there is no discernable arch support for my feet. If like me you're older with feet that tire and ache easily, you'll want to augment with orthotics. These would be easy to add as the shoe has removeable inserts. The shoes grip the trail nicely -- you won't slip, but they are not rigid enough to protect your feet over rocky, uneven trails. They are ideal as other writers have noted for daytime use, running errands or for shorter hikes on level, or mildly fluctuating terrain or level gravel/dirt paths. For mountain hiking or day hikes you'll need something with a lot more support that has a rigid structure. The shoes are stylish -- not the usual unattractive lumps offered for hiking.

I was looking for a casual walking everyday shoe to wear around town. I have very high arches and this shoe did not touch my arches at all, which is uncomfortable for me. Unfortunately returning.

These look really nice on but I felt that they are designed more for the underpronator. They made my foot roll to the outside to the point that it's hard to walk right. It's a shame they don't explain this in the description or offer another version for people who overpronate or walk normally.

The laces on this shoe are spaced quite far apart, so they don't produce the snug, customized fit I'm looking for. Also, I found that this shoe has too little support for side-to-side wobble, like I want in an outdoor/trail shoe.

I first got these in elephant/pink and thought the pink was drab so exchanged for drizzle/chardonnay. I loved this color! Unfortunately they pinched my little toes so had to return them. Thanks Zappos for free shipping/returns.

I bought this based on all the reviews for a walking vacation in London. Totally disappointed. There is no cushion, and I had horrible blisters on my heels and toes. Socks didn't help either. I had to buy walking shoes (Asics) at a local shop. :(

I've been searching for a shoe that would be suitable for day hikes, light trail running and general hacking around. I tried these in a 9.5 based on reviews and my past experience needing to go up a size when it comes to athletic shoes. Toe box was roomy but my heel slipped quite a bit. I ordered the black/plum which wasn't to my liking in preference. Opted to send these back and will keep searching.

Unfortunately, it took quite a few walks (I power walk every morning 7/days/week with my dog) to discover one little section of the toe area that constantly rubs a blister into the top of my toe. By the time I figured that breaking these in wouldn't take care of the problem, it was really too late to return them. This is an ongoing problem that we regular walkers/runners have I'm sure. Otherwise, I've always had good luck with Merrell shoes.

So disappointed to return these shoes because I love the style. Unfortunately, my normal 8.5 wide was a tad too short in the toe box, while the 9 wide slipped in the heel and didn't fit correctly in the arch. Just didn't work for my foot.

Cute shoe. I normally take a 6 and it is too small. Arch support is minimal.

Nice looking shoes, but not nearly enough cushioning in the toe bed. Also, the wide was closer to a medium. I returned them.

Loved the look of the shoe. Unfortunately, I had to return them. With heavy socks on, the shoes weren't wide enough and my little toe rubbed. The shoe insole was very hard and didn't provide much cushioning. It also felt like there were bumps in the shoe-like it was supposed to curve with the shape of my foot, but it was off. It might just be my foot although this was the correct size for me...a bigger size would be too long and with a smaller size, my toes would hit the end, so who knows? My heel also slipped quite a bit, no matter how I tied the shoes. Wish these would have worked out for me!

Great looking shoe. Not as wide as I would expect from a wide. Also, I have high arches so the pressure was displaced to the ball and heel.

I usually love Merrells, but these just didn't work for me. I wear a 6.5-7, and I got these in a 6.5. They keep slipping off my heel (can't get them tight enough). But I do like the way they look. I had to return them. I got the Jambu Himalaya and love them.

Super cute and lightweight, but uncomfortable. I recently wore them on a trip to Paris, but my little toes rubbed so bad that I had sore toes the rest of my trip. It's a shame because these shoes are super cute. I have the Merrell Moab's and they fit great. I wanted to travel with a lighter shoe this time, so I'm disappointed, they're just not for me. They don't have the same fit as other Merrell's I've owned.

I had to return this - it's an attractive shoe but didn't fit me right. I probably needed a larger size because I ended up getting the Moab Ventilator in a larger size. I still wouldn't have kept this shoe, however, because it doesn't have much arch support or padding for my 57 year old foot. The Moab Ventilaor is much better for me. Too bad - I liked the look of this shoe.

The shoes were comfortable, except the lacing across the tip of the shoe dug into my toes. Returned these and got the Avian Light Stretch instead, which are very comfortable and fit well, especially in the heel area.

I have a pair of these shoes that I have worn 300 days a year for two years and they have performed well. However, Merrell has a problem with quality control as I had to try 4 pairs in order to find a second pair that fit as well as the first. There are inconsistencies in sizing, and one pair I rejected because of a defect in the insole. I will never mail order Merrell shoes again.

Loved my first pair and lasted one year of living and working in the woods. The second pair fell apart within three months; had to return. Switched to the Keen Targhee II.

I've always liked Merrells, but I'm not impressed with this one - specifically I did not like the lacing system.
The fit seems to depend entirely on the lacing, and even with lots (and lots!) of effort put in, I still can't get the shoe to fit comfortably. Also, my foot felt wobbly, and the ankle not supported. I think I'll send them back.

I like these shoes and they fit, but I couldn't adjust to the orthotic rise under my toes...too much rocking when I walk.

This shoe's comfort and support are par for Merrell's amazing quality. But I am not in love with this shoe. It's not cold weather friendly. The wind whips through it. The tongue is too bulky. It's not comfortable on my foot and makes it difficult to lace the shoe. The sole of the heal is ultra-contoured. It seems to be putting a little extra pressure on my heel. Still love Merrell. But, this shoe... not so much.

For my foot, an inside seam rubs my little toe - so can't wear too long at a time. Not much padding on bottom. But otherwise comfortable.
