This is my first experience with Birks. Like all other reviewers it took me a week to break in. I now love the comfort and ease of just slipping my feet in and going out. All my other pairs of sandals are now hibernating.

I followed other reviewers advice and tried to break these shoes in slowly. They definitely increase in comfort overtime. I have had some trouble with the plastic middle piece rubbing between my toes but that is normal for me with new sandals. Overall I am really happy with them, but am still breaking them in a month later and trying not to wear them on extended, heavy walking trips.

Love these sandals and I hope they last forever. I'm glad I paid extra for the leather. It's very good quality. I do wish the piece that goes between your toes was not plastic, as that's easily the least comfortable part of the sandal. I ordered a 39 (8-8.5) when I'm always a 9, sometimes 9.5, so they do run one size large. All in all, though, I'm happy with my purchase and will wear these for years.

A solid classic shoe. The leather upper is very nice and wore in quickly. The thong itself took a little getting used to. The sole and arch are pretty dense, no real cushioning there but they are comfy nonetheless. Despite ordering my size my toes come right up to the lip of the shoe, I don't think I needed to order up but I'd recommend doing so if you tend to edge closer to the half size. They look fantastic on and I get so many compliments.

Totally impressed with my first pair of Birkenstocks! As others reviewers stated, the plastic toe separator can be painful at first. I wore them around the house for about a week until I was used to them. Now, I look forward to wearing them any chance I get! Love the arch support and the fact that they keep my feet happy all day long!

These are incredibly comfortable right out of the box! I know they will only get better upon breaking in. I'm usually a 9 or a 9.5, sometimes a 10, and I ordered a 39 in these (the 8-8.5 equivalent) based on reviews. They are the EXACT perfect length of my feet. So, I'd say go a full size down. I've been wearing them around this afternoon and have not even noticed the plastic toe post that many reviewers complained about. I think the trick is to tighten the leather strap so that's what is holding your foot in place, not the toe post. And CUTE! So cute. I never thought I'd be wearing Birkenstocks for fashion. :)

These make my feet so happy! I have a narrow foot and I'm usually in between sizes 39 and 40 in regular Birks, which is all I could find in stores. I haven't owned a pair in years and really wanted a comfortable sandal, so I ordered the 40 narrow this time. They fit perfectly. I love the style and the color is a nice neutral so it will go with a lot. Love everything about these!

This is definitely a great buy! Very comfortable and the thong part doesn't bother me. Very stylish as well...not bulky looking. I did go a half size larger.

These are the third pair of Birkenstock Gizeh's that I have ordered from Zappos. I have always been pleased with not only the shoes but with Zappos.

My first pair of Birkenstocks, and I have worn them every single day since they arrived. Living in NYC and carrying a new baby around means that I can only wear flat shoes now. I was getting arch pain from carrying the extra weight, and all my beloved sandals and flats weren't providing any support. My husband had suggested Birkenstocks, and I balked. I had the image in my mind of the traditional two-strap icon, and refused to be caught dead in them. These were the compromise, and I have to say that they've changed my life. I love them. Given how comfortable they are, I am even reconsidering whether or not I'd wear the originals! I wear a 9-9.5, have narrow feet, and long toes. I ordered a 39 narrow. The arches are where they should be, but the toe box was a little snug at first. After wearing them everyday for several weeks, they have perfectly molded to my feet and are the most comfortable shoe I own.

I love these! After reading many of the reviews, I was torn on what to do for sizing. Half of the reviews said true to size, while the other half said to go a size down. I figured I'd gamble with ordering my usual size (normally a 9 1/2, or a 40) knowing I could exchange if need be. I received my Gizeh's yesterday and they fit perfectly! I would agree they are true to size. I also initially considered this sandal with the birko-flor since it was cheaper. I have other styles with the birko-flor and like them, but I figured for as much as I like the sandal, it is worth the investment for the oiled leather. It's beautiful and I know I will wear this everywhere! Many people noted annoyance with the toe piece. Since I've only worn them around the house a bit, I can't say much. Like new Birks, they are stiff as they need to be broken in, but I'm sure it won't take long!

Disclaimer: I did not buy these on Zappos. I bought them 3 summers ago on eBay. But I love Zappos and the instant my Birkenstock Gizehs are no longer available, I'm going to purchase them here. These are my favorite shoes. Of all time. I spend every waking hour in the Minnesota winter pining for the first day the weather gets above 40 degrees so I can prance around in these babies. I have plantar fasciitis, but I have never had a problem in these shoes. The only time they hurt was when I wore them for 11 hours at the State Fair while breaking them in. I have worn them continuously for 3 summers in a row and they are only now beginning to look like they might need to be replaced. In terms of sizing, here's what I would recommend: go to your nearest specialty shoe store/Birkenstocks dealer and get sized in the shoe before you buy. Don't go off of online size charts. I normally wear a 6.5 or 7, and in these shoes I wear a 36 (regular width). I rated them as "true to size" because I suspect that the size charts are what's wrong, not the sizing itself...if that makes sense. But I also know nothing about European shoe sizing. More details -- I got these shoes in a dark teal color. I think paying extra for the real leather was totally worth it. The box said that Birks would feel better than walking barefoot -- I didn't believe it, but it turns out to be true. These are amazing, especially if you have a foot condition. The Gizeh can be dressed up or down -- good for dancing, hiking, work, around the house, with dresses, jeans, skirts. They're cute, I always get compliments on them, and they're versatile and comfortable. Perfect shoe. I'm sure I sound obsessive, but I'm just adding to the chorus of people who know what I'm talking about. I never want to be without a pair of these again!

I first got these because I needed a summer sandal that supported my high arches and I thought these were pretty. Now that I've worn them for a month straight I can say that they are fabulous! Very supportive. Very comfortable. They broke in rather quickly. I've recommended them to everybody!

I love this shoe! It's my first pair of Birkenstocks but it won't be my last. I have problematic feet -- overpronate, flat, bunions, etc. Plus, stand at work almost all day. Simply stated, my feet don't hurt in these shoes or the day after wearing these shoes. I'm wow'ed.

The Gizeh is comfortable and provides excellent support. Would suggest to measure the whole foot by cm and use that size in conjunction to Birkenstock's size chart. I'm normally a size 6 US for athletic shoes and had to order a size 35 on the Birkenstock, 2 sizes smaller than suggested. The larger size caused pain when walking. Highly important to find the correct size. Did also encounter blistering between the toes where the tong is stationed.

Typically I avoid anything with a thong because my toes are close together and it gets painful pretty quickly. Not so with these Birks! I assume this is because the pressure is distributed to the strap, which sits farther back on the instep of the foot. They are supremely comfortable and feel great on my feet (I also have pretty high arches). They are very well-made (in Germany), and I expect they will last many years. I tried the Birko-flor first but as much as I wanted to like the faux leather, I think the real leather is more durable, a little heavier, and generally more comfortable on my foot. Great sandals!

So comfortable. These are Birks, so be prepared for a break-in period, but once they are broken in, they are heaven on your feet and actually look cute. I wear them with both jeans and dresses (when I'm trying to pretend I'm boho-chic) and they are great for walking around town. In terms of sizing, I am a 7.5-8, maybe bordering on the 7.5 side more with a narrow foot and I ordered a 38 narrow, and it's 100% perfect. The break-in period is annoying, especially on your arches, but again - that's to be expected with Birkenstocks. Just power through and you'll be so glad you did!

First off, Zappos is awesome. I ordered these on July 7th and they arrived to my overseas APO on July 15th! Seriously. I have to order everything online and that is incredible. Zappos is the best! Secondly...I ordered these in the 39 narrow (my usual size is 8.5) and they fit perfectly! Super comfortable, not nearly as bulky as I thought they might be. Actually, not really bulky at all - just the straps are thick but it's exactly like it is in the picture so no surprises. The plastic toe piece doesn't hurt me at all - study and comfortable. I am so excited to have a cute but seriously comfortable walking shoe!

Love them and wear them all the time! super comfy. Love the real leather as opposed to the birko-flor stuff. I had an old pair that had the birko-flor and they were comfy too, but not as fly as the leather.

Classic Birkenstock comfort in a beautiful blue leather. These last forever and go everywhere. I wouldn't face a summer without them!

These are Birkenstocks so name says it all! They are comfortable beyond words. As far as style I think the Gizeh is the cutest most versatile style. They look great with jeans, dresses, skirts and even shorts. As far as sizing I always wear a 6 in sandals of all kinds so I naturally ordered a 37 (6-6.5); however, I found these to be about a full size too large. So I had to return them in exchange for a 36. I have wider feet from years and years of dance training and fitness. The regular/normal width is perfect. Try a pair. Your feet will thank you.

These Birkenstocks are very comfortable & true to size. I take a medium with so I got the regular width. I am not a big toe thong wearer, so it took a little getting used to. After I wore them about 6 times they broke in very well.

I had a pair of Gizehs several years ago and absolutely loved them, but just wore them into the ground. I had been looking for something similar to the Birkenstock Ramses model to replace them for some time, but as Zappos doesn't carry that model, decided to go with the Gizeh again. While Zappos markets this as a woman's sandal, it's very much unisex outside of the US - although Zappos sizes only go up to a 42 / 27cm, which was exactly what I needed. Also, if you have fairly wide feet like I do, the regular / normal width should do fine, however I did have to punch another hole in the strap to widen it. Overall, I love these sandals and it's a joy to walk in them. The style is great, the leather foot bed feels wonderful and I couldn't be happier. Now if Zappos would only offer the Ramses for guys, we'd be set!
