It took me years to try these because I used to wear Birkies all the time, and then my nieces told me that they were dorky, and of course I couldn't be dorky!! So I stopped wearing them. But, I was having trouble finding flip flops that were well made with leather and lasted longer than a year and didn't get gross, so I thought I would finally take a look at these Gizeh sandals. I must say, yep, the old Birkie comfort is here as expected and while they are comfortable, they still need to be broken in. I know people complain about the plastic thong, and of course I would prefer it to be leather, but I'm assuming Birkenstock has their reason behind using plastic and it might be because it will last longer than leather and not stretch out? Not sure, but anyway, it doesn't bother me. The other thing I like is that the way the strap is designed and how it is attached back farther toward the heel, this sandal does not make that "flip flop" sound, but instead is more secure on your foot. I guess my only wish is that with the black ones, I wish the whole sandal were black instead of black and tan, but I still love them and am glad I finally decided to give them a try.

I have the Gizeh leather in every color. It is my go to sandal style for spring, summer and fall. I have bunions and the Gizeh is comfortable for everyday wearing. I will continue to buy any new color leather Gizehs.

Bought these for my wife. She loved them. Very comfortable and durable. She's worn them rain or shine since she got them.

Been thinking about getting these for years and finally took the plunge. No regrets. Love the look and quality comfort normally expected from Birkenstock. Don't know why they only make the colors in birkiflor though. The leather is better in both look and feel as expected so kept the tobacco leather pair. Gorgeous and comfy.

Birkenstocks are back! I remembered wearing Birkenstocks in middle school and they were always my go-to shoes for comfort and style, and I am happy to see they are slowly making a comeback. I was nervous about breaking in the leather, as Birkenstocks are pretty tough leather, but took them on a trip and they really required no breaking in, and are continuing to get more comfortable with more wear. They look really cute with shorts, sundresses and maxis. They aren't the most delicate-looking shoe, but they are very comfortable and will be my go-to summer shoe once again.

A tad stiff a first but within a few hours wear they softened up and are so incredibly comfy. Love the look. Plan on ordering additional colors.

I love these sandals! I wore them around the house a few times to break them in a little, but I did get a little blister between my toes the first time I wore them all day. I've been wearing them regularly since then, for almost a month, and they're very comfortable. I bought in my standard size and width (9M) and they fit perfectly. Glad I didn't size down like so many people suggested! The leather is really nice and I love the way they look. The only problem is that I'm afraid to wear them and get them wet on a lot of these rainy Chicago spring days.

These are really cute sandals. They haven't quite broken in yet so they aren't as comfortable as I'd like them to be. I'm still working on it though!

Super cute and comfortable. No break-in period necessary for me--not a single blister! They seem to run a little big (36 are supposed to fit size 5-5.5), I wear a 5.5-6.5 in all other shoes and no way these are a 5), but I tightened the buckles a bit and they still work. Maybe in the interest of accommodating this Zappos will offer customers the size 35 option eventually, if they do, I'd like to buy the oiled leather Yara next! If they don't, I may have to buy them online elsewhere as I don't think the Yara will work for me in a 36 that runs this big. The shoe itself feels great and I love the updated style.

I love the sandals. They are very comfortable with great arch support. Just be careful with the your foot slipping in and out of foot-bed, it will cause blisters.

LOVE these Birks. They are so comfortable from day 1 and are fantastic for walking long distances and standing. I am looking forward to wearing them to my next vacation abroad where I will be on my feet all day, but don't want to be so obviously pegged as an American tourist in my Nikes. Also a great alternative to flip flops since they are nicer looking and stay on your foot, which avoids making that slapping sound with flip flops. Also you know these shoes will last you a long time. My dad has Birkenstocks from 15 years ago that still look great. In terms of size I would say go with your european size because they do run a little large. I'm usually a US 8 and I ordered a 38 (they recommended a 39). The 38 was perfect for me.

Love. So comfortable - wore them right out of the box for hours with no issues. The leather is nice and would recommend getting the real leather Gizeh's. These will be a staple in my wardrobe for a long time!

So comfortable now that I found the right setting. When I first received these in the mail, the hard plastic in between the toe was not in the fight place. It hurt, it was miserable. Well my husband made the strap tighter (on the tightest hole) and that did it! The issue is that you can't be clomping around in these, they need to be tight on the top of the foot so they don't put pressure between the toes. I am usually between an 8 1/2 and 9. I stuck with the 39, the 40 was huge. Hope this helps!

Yay I just got these Birks today. I had ordered the 38 and they were too big and had to return. Great customer service, prompt and helpful. I got my exchange size overnight! I am usually a size 7, but the 37 fits great. They run a little big based on my experience with this sandals. Anyway, I am very pleased with these sandals!

I absolutely love these shoes! They are so comfortable and go with everything. They've definitely become a staple in my wardrobe. They fit true to size as far as my foot is concerned. And there is no better service than Zappos!

I love these! I usually wear an 8.5/9 and I ordered a size 39. They fit perfectly and I would say more like an 8.5/9 vs 8/8.5 which worked out perfectly for me the 40 is too big. I have a wide foot and the regular width fits just right. I love the arch support and toe support. I'm used to wearing flip flops so I had no problem with the thong, these are so comfortable! I haven't worn Birkenstocks in 14 years and so glad they have a more modern look. The black leather is much more sturdy and softer than the Birko-flor, I accidentally ordered those first, they feel pretty synthetic for the top strap - not a fan of that. It's worth the extra money for them to last forever.

My second pair of Birks, they are super comfortable in the footbed, as expected. I normally hate flip flop type sandals as they rub and give me blisters. Not these - super comfortable and look great. Sizing is consistent with Birks - I wear a 7-7.5 in US sizing, 38 in European sizing and 37 for these.

Love the shoe! I haven't owned Birkenstocks for over 10 years so I was excited to try some new ones. In between my toes is a little sore after the first few times wearing them but I haven't worn sandals since last summer. I typically wear a 7.5-8 so I ordered the 38. The regular width fit my foot much better but I don't think I have a wide foot.

I find this brand excellent for comfort. I have narrow feet and these are available in narrow widths. I highly recommend them!

As usual, the quality of Birkenstock is top notch. I live on the coast in the MidAtlantic and they are perfect for walking my dog on the beach/in my neighborhood and running errands. I tried the tobacco color in both the "waxy" and "oiled" leathers. I liked the color and texture of the waxy leather better, but I felt that the suede-like quality of the leather would not hold up to my lifestyle. I think it would probably stain easily and need some kind of regular protecting spray. However, the oiled leather was still beautiful, and I know from experience that they will age well and that my active lifestyle won't ruin them. They will last a long time! I'm very happy with my purchase.

I normally wear a US size 8 which is a 39 but decided to go with the 38 after reading previous reviews and they fit perfectly. They were difficult to break in at first and I got a couple of large blisters on the bottom of my feet. However, once they were broken in they became the most comfortable shoes I own. I recently moved to the Caribbean and the tough terrain destroys everything especially cheaply made sandals, but these Birkenstocks have stood up to the test. I wear them every day! Highly recommend this brand.

This is a great shoe for comfort and style. I work as a preschool teacher and will be able to keep up with my students in these shoes. If you are looking for an attractive yet functional sandal, this is it!

I grew up in the early '90s, so it was a little disconcerting to see Birks as "cool" shoes, once again. Especially Birks with socks. Seriously? But it's kind of cute. The Gizeh, however, manages to capture the glorious (initially painful) comfort of Birkenstocks in a cute style. They're way better looking than most other Birkenstocks. I'm not going to lie: if you've never worn Birks before, these will hurt your feet for the first few days. Particularly the plastic toe piece. The pressure of the ridge under the ball of the foot almost caused me to return the shoes, but I stuck it out and am so glad I did. I have had consistent sciatica pain since having children, and wearing sandals has been the bane of many a warm day (and I'm in So Cal, so there are lots of those warm days when you just don't want a close-toed shoe.) Within a week of wearing these, not only did I get used to the hard sole (yes, it's like walking on bricks and yes, you will adjust to it), my sciatica pain was gone. I totally believe that the way these shoes cause your feet to maintain correct alignment (toes spread, heel neutral) greatly helps my back problem.

I love these sandals. The fabulous Zappos Rep recommended this style, after my other selections size were not available, plus she had a pair. I wore them in Israel in September and received a zillion compliments. Plus, the fit and comfort was great! Thanks fabulous Zappos Rep - sorry, I forgot your name.

Brilliant. The most comfortable Birkenstocks I've had, and I've worn several different Birkenstock styles. I have the black oiled leather and they do leave black rub off marks on your feet for at least for the first several wearings, but wash off easily. Plus, I get lots of compliments on these, some from people surprised that Birkenstocks can be cute.
