Beautiful boots, but I could not get them on. I love fry boots, I have 6 pairs, I ordered my regular size, but sadly the ankle is very small, and due to my high arches, and no zipper, I couldn't get my foot in them. It may have been possible if I tried wearing them with stalkings, or used vaseline (lol) but frankly I prefer a medium thick sock with boots, and there was no was I was getting these on. Sad... because they were beautiful

First of all, these things felt like slippers from day one. I had my eye on fryes for a while and had tried another pair but the shaft was too narrow for my calves, so I returned and tried these. These are still my most comfy pair one year later, but I'm disappointed in how the toe shape has held up. I mean, if someone steps on your foot one time it will smash them flat. They also aren't very well insulated. If I walk through the smallest amount of snow out of necessity, my feet are immediately wet and socks turn brown from the leather. And I treat them with weatherproofing stuff at least twice a year. I realize they aren't made for snow, but there are times you may get wet regardless, so the very thin sole is something to be aware of. I normally wear an 8 1/2 but got these in a 9, just because i like a little extra room in my boots for thick socks in the cold weather. I will probably buy Frye again if I ever find another pair with a wide enough calf but with a thicker sole and hopefully better built toe.

I ordered the gray but when the boots arrived I realized these were taupe sprayed with a white finish that comes off if you rub it even slightly. Very upset that Frye does this.

Like many other reviewers, I couldn't even get these on - couldn't get my foot down under the bend in the ankle. It's really too bad, because the leather felt fabulous and the color was exactly what I was going for.

They do look pretty good, but they're such a challenge to get on and off. I had to go with a boot with a zipper.

Beautiful boot but my main issue is that there is no grip on the soles of the shoe. I was slipping even walking on my carpeted floor. If they had a sturdier sole I would have bought them. Very attractive boot, although of note I find the extra layer of leather at the front makes it too bulky and less delicate.

NOT WIDE CALF. I have wide calves at 15" and wanted boots to wear over jeans with a little room to spare. I pulled these out of the box and was so excited, they are beautiful boots and smell amazing. But, while wearing thin tights I could barely get these up enough on my leg to get my foot into the part where it goes. I had ordered a half size down at the suggestion of a salesgirl and was glad I did. For reference I am a true size 7 and still had a little toe room to spare but if I had to guess the calf width for the 6.5 couldn't have been more than 14.5 inches as they just scrunched up around the base of my calf. Going back.

Unfortunately these boots were too narrow for me. It's a shame I had to return because they were so soft and the style was great! Major bummer :(

The leather of the boot I received is distressed, which I like and it is quality leather. Also, it felt like a cushion is under the sole of the boot, which is a great feature. It does look more like a cowboy boot and I didn't like that much. However, my issue with the boot is not with Frye, but rather with Zappos. The boot I received is a darker color than what is shown in the photo. I ordered the "cognac antique pull up," but the boot I received looks more like the "dark brown antique pull up." I believe the wrong color boot was placed in the box I received or the color of the photo is inaccurate. Either way, it is not what I expected or wanted, so I returned it. Bummer.

I wanted to love these boots.... sadly they are a weird fit for me.... I have bigger calves... my calves fit in these but these bunched up terribly around the ankle and looked really odd. Way to much money for them not to feel nice.

I loved the way these boots looked. The quality is clearly high, the leather was beautiful. But the shaft circumference is a total fib. I have calves slightly larger than normal. Not big calves, but slightly larger. I was searching specifically for boots with a 15 1/2 or higher circumference. So I ordered these. I couldn't even get them on. The shaft was so narrow and there is no zip or elastic or anything. They are pull on boots, so make sure you have narrow enough calves to get them on. They seemed more like 14 inch to me. Too bad, I had to send them back.

Beautiful boot and the leather is smooth and supple. However, it was not made for me. The shaft height was too high for my short legs and the area around my heel was uncomfortable/unsupported.

Update review. The threads are pulling out of the panel of my boot after only two wears. Total bummer. I was going to send them in with the frye warranty but it doesn't promise a replacement pair of the same color - gift card instead. Not wanting to lose the cognac shine color im just going to hang onto them and bring them to a shoe repair if the defect progresses. It's such bad luck after spending this much money on boots having never done so before. I told myself - because of the quality $$$. Dang it! I still love them though.

Boots look beautiful on the outside; the color, design, execution - all are great. But it is very hard to get the foot into the pull-on boot. It seems roomy from the picture, and I hoped that there is enough room, but there isn’t. The size was ok, but the struggle to get it on was daunting. Also I felt like the heel is 'sinking in' and there is very little arch support. Toes were higher than the heel and that just felt weird. The leather boot sides (in-seam and out-seam areas) cut into my ankle bone, and with just few minutes left the red marks. I was wearing thin nylon socks to help the foot slide easier into the boot, but it still was difficult and uncomfortable. Perhaps building up the inside heel area would solve the “sinking” problem and adding polished leather lining inside to help the foot slide? The rough finish does not help.

I have 16" calves and these fit my calves with room to spare. Well, one of them did. The other I couldn't get on... AT. ALL. Gorgeous color, nice leather. Sizes appear to be inconsistent. If I'm too old to struggle with putting on my boots, maybe I'm too old for boots this cool?

I'm definitely in the camp of people that feel the heel area of this boot is WAY too roomy. I love my size 9 Melissa Buttons and my heels slipped right out the back of these size 8.5's. So sad. Regular/narrow in the toe but wide in the heel.

I loved the look of these boots when they came to me from zappos....beautiful! I typically wear a 9.5 or 10. Originally when I ordered, zappos was all out of the 9.5 in the cognac that I wanted. I opted for size 10 instead. Unfortunately the 10's were way too big and sloshy on me. A few days after I got these boots I noticed that zappos had gotten the 9.5 boots back in stock. I was so excited. I quickly exchanged my 10's for 9.5's. When I received the 9.5 boots...I kept checking the size on the inside of the boot....I couldn't even get my foot in the bottom of the boot...i felt like I was trying to fit my big old feet into size 8 boots....there was such a crazy disparity between the 9.5 and 10...that now I am stumped...do all Frye boots have this same issue? These boots look beautiful. Since they don't have a zipper, it's a big hard to get your foot in. Once you go through with this, you find out the boot is very loose at the ankle and my heels were coming off too much while walking. The main reason why I'm returning them is that the shaft is too high, making it uncomfortable to sit down as it hits the back of my thigh. The leather is thick and stiff but I'm sure it would have broken off with use.

I really love these boots and wish that I could keep them. I even considered taking them to the shoe shop to add a zipper, but for the price I guess I need to look for a pair that works without alteration. I could get them on, but not without some sweat and tears. So I'll just keep looking for that perfect pair. Would be a five star if there was a zipper! Love Zappos return policy!
