Love! Definitely go a 1/2 size bigger, and plan on thin socks, they contour and look amazing but there's no give to get your foot in until the leather breaks in. Beautiful boots.

I have drooled and debated over these for months. I finally took the plunge. Worth every penny. I normally wear a 10.5 but the 10 is perfect. So luscious, soft and buttery. Calf and height also large enough to accommodate my 17 inch with no problem. These are stunning!

I've owned these boots for over a year now so figured it was time to write a review. Especially since I'm considering buying another pair. These were amazing right out of the box. Comfortable and they look great with almost everything. I even wear them to work. My only warning would be about the sole. It is slippery and I actually slipped and fell on my butt once at the beginning. So take your time and make sure to scuff up the sole. The other issue is they were a struggle to take off the first couple of times. But with wear, they've stretched out some and slipping on and off is a sync.

I had purchased a pair of Born boots and returned them because the quality was inferior. Yes these boots are pricey but the workmanship and quality is worth it. Plus once you wear out the leather sole, it can be replaced. My feet are 8-8.5 depending on the shoe; I ordered an 8.5 and while these are slightly big, I think an 8 would have been too small. A thick pair of socks helps. Arch support is minimum so if that bothers you a wide variety of aftermarket supports are available. Had no problems getting the boots on and off--the pull tabs on the sides help as well. The boot is well constructed and will last for years with care. When it got cold, the wax coat hazed but a soft cloth buffed it off. If you are on the fence about these boots, I would highly recommend. I purchased the grey and love them.

This is my fifth pair of Frye boots. The quality of the leather is great. This is the first pair I ordered that isn't black and they are beautiful. They are expensive but well worth it. You're getting your money's worth in these boots.

This is my first, but certainly not last, pair of Frye boots and they do not disappoint. The leather is beautiful and the style is classic. As these boots are a pull-on style, lacking a zipper, I was concerned my muscular calves would be an issue, but they aren't a problem at all. I typically wear a size 9 or 9-1/2 and the 9 fits well; there is a little slip in the heel, but this makes getting them on and off less of a challenge. I don't typically spend this kind of cash on shoes, but these were certainly worth the splurge. I know I will wear these for years to come!

These boots are fabulous! I've been coveting a pair of Fryes for a while, but didn't really care for any of the styles carried at the department stores nearby. They all seemed too short on me. I was also looking for a boot that I could wear to work that didn't look too casual. I ordered the boots in black and they're super chic and very well made. The reviews of this boot sold me, and with Zappos' free shipping and returns there would be little hassle in the event I didn't like them. I typically wear a 9 or 9.5 and have what I think are normal/athletic calves. I ordered the 9.5 and they fit fine...I think I could probably fit in a 9 also as there is some room in the front but the shaft of the boot fits great in the 9.5. I was worried about the pull on style as opposed to a zipper, but they're super easy to get on. I've only worn them with leggings and black skinny pants. Getting them off is a little tricky - my husband has had to help me pull them off more than once but I'm sure this will become easier over time. I also purchased the Frye conditioning balm, which I really like. I live in Chicago and have worn my boots through snow and slush and they've held up just fine. Any salt residue or dried slush wipes right off with a wet paper towel. Re: the arch support...they soles are pretty flat, which doesn't bother me as I don't have issues with my arches.

I have several pairs of Frye boots, and these are my absolute favorite. First off, the color. I bought these in the burnished grey. I rubbed off the white film and immediately put on a good coat of leather conditioner, which did darken them somewhat. It is a neutral taupe color with a gorgeous worn leather pattern. I can pair these with pretty much any color I want. I am a size 9-9.5 and ordered these in a nine. They were a little challenging to get on the first few times, but using a thin, slippery sock helped. Now I can get them on barefoot, though I do have to fight with the right one a bit because that foot is bigger. The shaft height is great for my 5'10" frame. There was a lot if heel slip, but that is improving now that creasing is developing at the ankle to hold my feet in place. The shaft is big enough to fit over my 15 inch calves with room for long underwear and skinny jeans. It's pretty cold and damp where I live, and I was concerned with the lifespan of the thin-looking sole, so I had them resolved with rubber to help with grip and durability. I can wear these all day, and do that very often. They do lean more towards a casual look, but that is more often how I dress, and I have dressier, sleeker boots for those occasions. I am 100% happy with my purchase, and am even contemplating getting these in the saddle or burnished tan color... Or cognac.... Or burnished dark brown....

I ordered these boots for my daughter during the height of the Christmas rush. The website said it would take 4-5 days yet 2 days later they arrived perfectly packaged and in beautiful condition. My daughter loves her Frye boots. The leather has a more rustic finish, not shiny, that can be dressed up or down. She mostly wears them with skinny jeans and leggings. They look great with over the knee socks. They seem to fit true to size though she has noticed them slipping some in the heel. She tried a half size smaller but said they were too tight. They are still comfortable to wear to school and if she is going to do a lot of walking she just wears a thicker pair of socks. One word of caution, however, these boots have a leather sole and you will want to scuff them up quite a bit before wearing them particularly if it's raining. Would highly recommend Frye for their amazing quality and Zappos for their equally amazing customer service.

Ordered this for our daughter as a gift. Very comfortable fit & beautifully made high quality boot. Ordered a size 7 and it was perfect. She normally wears a size 7 or 7 1/2. Based on reviews, we went with the smaller size. As always, Zappos is excellent in every way!

Gorgeous and very high quality. I had my eye on these boots for over a year before finally purchasing them and they are definitely worth the money.

I bought these a year ago and they are still my favorite boots. I am 5'5 and usually wear a size 7 or 7 1/2. I got these in a size 7 and they are perfect. At first they were a bit snug putting on because I have a pretty high instep, but after wearing the boots for a few days the boots quickly molded exactly to my feet. Totally worth the investment. These boots have stomped through snow, rain and mud and still look amazing.

These boots are more a taupe color though called gray and are not dressy, very distressed looking. I've had multiple compliments on them with jeans/ leggings. The leather is supple but thick, a really well made boot fully worth the price. My arches are high and calves extremely big, the initial fit of the boot was easy on but slightly tight on calves. Still comfy though and I can now tuck flared jeans in. Even if your calves are small this boot would look good, since leather has such substance, they gradually stretched to fit all my pants-tucking needs. I really like these boots, it's obvious they are well made based on compliments I've received.

Fantastic boots. Comfortable from the start but very hard to slide on without plastic bags on my feet! Still can't complain. Love them. Ordered half size down which was a perfect fit.

Love these boots. I feel they are true to size. Unfortunately my right calf is one inch bigger than my left and the right side boot buckles because of this. I hate to return these but I must. The search goes on for a larger calf size!

Very unique style that no one else will have. Frye's last forever! I bought my last pair 9 years ago and they just now need slight heel repair. Always comfortable and I wear all my Frye's with dresses and out on the town and they're way better than heels for a night out. These are true size and just insanely beautiful and durable.

These are the best boots -- perfect to dress up or down. Comfortable and classic. I wear them every day! Order a full size down.

These boots are gorgeous! I have high arches, so I definitely needed to get slippery socks to slip into them the first few times, but they softened up and fit like a dream now. The leather is gorgeous, a perfect color that works with everything. I do not have particularly small calves (I guess we are supposed to call them "athletic") and these fit great. Now, to resist ordering another pair...

Beautiful boot! I just moved to New England from Florida and these boots made it worthwhile! Comfortable and fun to wear, worth every penny. Zappos had them at my door before I logged out of my order!

This boot is GORGEOUS! As with all Frye boots, the quality of the leather is beautiful, and the boot's construction is top-notch. I ordered the grey color, and it is a dark-ish, sort of taupe-grey that is a perfect neutral color -- softer than black, but not a "light" color. Now for the not-so-good-news... Sadly, they just didn't look good on my legs. I have a fairly wide calf (16 inches) and a size 10 foot. I could get them on, but they were snug around the top. That, coupled with the extra layer of leather, just made my leg look wide below my knee. I was so disappointed! My friend has these boots, and they look amazing on her, but her calves are slimmer than mine so I think that is the difference. Because of Zappos' generous return policy, I would recommend ordering these if you are interested... If they fit you correctly, they are beautiful. And if not, it is simple to send them back and try something else. I give these boots 5 stars and I give my calves 2 stars. :)

These boots are gorgeous, but they were too tight around the calf with my skinny jeans. I am 5'2" and 130 lbs. My calves measure 15.5 inches at the largest part. The boots fit a bit snug at the calf without jeans, and with jeans they are just too tight. They are also a bit too tall for my short frame. I love them though. I ordered a 7.5 which is my normal size for shoes...sometimes I take an 8 as well.

These boots are fabulous! I get at least one compliment a day. They are super comfortable. I am on my feet most of the day, and these give pretty good support. No swollen or sore feet when I get home.
