Ordered "Jenny" and "Passion." Both are beautiful, waterproof boots and fit well and very comfortably. Nice leather. Liked 1/2-inch lower heel on Passion but boot was a bit roomy around calf for my average 14". Decided on Jenny, which is similar and looks slightly dressier but still versatile and functional; not just a "fashion" boot. Waterproof and can wear all day, for travel, etc., with dresses and tucked-in jeans. Second pair of La Canadienne's; they never disappoint.

I waited two years to find the perfect tall boots. To begin with, I have difficult feet...small (size 6) and wide because of bunions. It's very difficult to find comfortable shoes and I spend most of my work and leisure time wearing Earth brand shoes which have been wonderful. As I began to search for boots, I knew I couldn't get something with too tall a shaft ( I'm only 4'11") or too high a heel. After reading all of the other reviews on this boot, I was convinced it would work for me and the investment would be worth it. I was right. As others mentioned, these were comfortable right out of the box. They are beautifully made with good quality leather. I ordered size 6 W and it has been perfect. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase or with the service that Zappos provides. Excellent on all counts. Thank you!

Love these boots. I got them several years ago and sadly my ankle on one side started to poke through the zipper (I guess I have bony ankles?), so I had the zipper repaired twice but now I unfortunately finally have to retire them. That being said, they were truly waterproof for at least 3 winters (aka - you can walk through several inches of snow/slush/rain/whatever) without a drop of moisture coming through. They were super comfortable and versatile since they looked great with jeans/skirts/dresses/etc. I'm branching out to other styles from the same brand this year, but if I could afford both I would definitely buy another pair!

I love these boots. I was torn between these and the Passion from this brand. I decided to go with these as the Leather Passion had a ridge around the toe edge I didn't really like. Plus these have a slightly higher heel. I normally wear an 8 in a shoe like this (flat to low heel) and the 8's fit great with a medium sock, but I can also wear with a thicker sock if I choose to in the winter. The calves are snug and I measure to a 13.5 when flexed. I was concerned about the shape of the toe as I have very long toes with the second toe being longer than the first and a slightly wider toe bed than heel. These, so far, fit great with no toe pinching or rubbing (have only worn them inside the house so far). I'll be traveling to Minnesota soon for work and spend a bit of time in Denver so I should be able to test the waterproof/warmth factor of these babies soon. Hope this helps. Happy shopping.

These are great boots. I bought them to replace a pair of La Canadienne boots that I loved to death. I looked at other brands and considered cheaper boots, but coulnd’t find any that matched the quality, mix of style & comfort of La Canadienne. (Worry not - La Canadienne boots last a long time. I wore the previous pair nearly every fall, winter, and spring day for five years. Only after lots of walking and winters in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and upstate NY - did the zipper give out and soles become beyond repair.) The heel of the Jenny is high enough to make a short person feel a bit more authoritative, but not so high as to make someone who spurns heels lose her balance. You might find the leg part a bit tight. Further, a shorter person will find, though, that the boot will come nearly to the knee; I wish they were a tad shorter. The lining helps keep my frigid feet warm in winter, but these are versatile and high-quality boots - good with skirts, dress pants or jeans. I hope they last as long (or longer) than the last pair.

I have narrow feet so boots are hard to find that are comfortable. These fit great and I could wear them all day. Love them!

I love the boots, and the lining which is very comfortable, Unfortunately, they are very narrow. I have regular size boots that are not wide width which I can still get into, but these do not seem to stretch I guess because of the lining. If you had a wider size (I guess in these WW) I would certainly purchase them. I am very disappointed that they don't fit.

Gorgeous boots...soft leather, super comfortable, and I have foot problems. I could walk for hours in these the first time I put them on. Fits snug around my 13.5 calf. I have a pair of suede La Canadienne boots, and they too are super comfy. I ordered two other pairs of boots and returned them. I went up a bit in price, and it was worth it. Love these boots!

I was skeptical about the "waterproof" claim of these boots, but they were field tested during a New York City downpour, and these lovely boots kept my tootsies dry even after I had to wade through puddles. They pass the comfort test as well.

I have been trying to find just the right boot for years, and La Canadienne's Jenny is it. Incredible comfort for such a classically elegant boot, and the soft lovely leather really is waterproof. This boot goes everywhere, looks perfect, and feels great and seems too good to be true, but thank Heaven (and Zappos!) it is. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

I love these boots! Having a wide foot I have never been able to find a comfortable pair of boots. Ordered 8.5 W my usual size, and they are perfect. Leather is soft and pretty, jeans tuck in nicely. Very pleased with Zappos and service.

I was looking for a stylish boot to wear with skirts that would work with my arthritic toe and these are perfect - very comfortable, but still look nice and sleek. I also have muscular calves, so it's hard to find boots that cling in the right way, and these do a good job. A tad baggier for me around the ankles than I'd like, but that's the trade-off for good fit on the calves, I guess. Haven't had them long enough to see how they wear over time (ie well enough to justify the price) but so far so good.

Awesome boots. I have them on right now. Comfortable from day one. Fine under jeans, slacks, trousers, even nice skirts. My calves are big--the gentle word is "athletic", maybe that's true, but boots often bind there. Not these. There is a little wedge of elastic-not like that on maternity pants that helps out, but mostly it's the high quality leather. They take polish--real leather does. It's been a heck of a winter here, I got these boots just in time. As one reviewer noted, they don't have a lot of padding at the ball of the foot, but the heel height and arch support and ample toe box (allows for thick socks if you need them) keep it from being hard to stand/walk in them all day. Love these boots. I hope they still make them years from now when I wear them out.

I just received my boots yesterday. Thank you for the quick shipment Zappos! I saw these boots last year and after a year of admiring them and reading reviews, I finally bought them. I'm 5'5 and have skinny, flat feet and slim thighs. I have searched a lot of places for a simple style boot - with the squared toe - ordered them, returned then, but these boots are exactly what I have been looking for. They fit great and true to size. They have the right sized heel and can be worn with skirts and/or skinny jeans. Definitely worth the price of you have a hard time finding a boot to fit your slim leg.

This boot is marvelous! I have problem feet -- big and very wide (10 EE), needing a squared off and rather high toe box. This particular boot answers all of my needs. In addition, it is high enough to be truly elegant -- it does not stop in mid calf, which is not flattering. The only problem for me was that the right zipper bent in and was painful on my leg. (I solved that problem by inserting a 3" strip of velcro attached to a strip of padding by the zipper. It does not show at all and the boots are now perfect.) Zappos' service was, as always, exemplary.

I ordered these boots and the Timberland Statham boots. The latter bruised my ankles after a few hours so back they went. These are more expensive but worth the price. It's my boots' label for life!

This is the perfect boot...except for the shaft circumference. I was hoping since I ordered a wide that the shaft would also be wider... alas I still needed another inch or two!

These boots are fantastic! They're the perfect classic black boot. The lower heel makes them extremely comfortable. I could walk in the all day and not have aching feet. With the right care these boots will last you a lifetime; that makes them worth the price!

Look to be very good quality. Perhaps a little more arch support, but I just bought an insert and now they are perfect.

My husband bought me a pair of these boots for Christmas, and they are of very high quality and very comfortable. They are very warm, and perfect for cold, wet weather. I love the square toe. I don't usually wear heels, but these are comfortable enough to wear at work for more than 10 hours. Great investment. I'm not usually wide, but that was the only size available, and they feel fine.

First, I love Zappos. Unparalleled shopping experience. They boosted my shipping option for no reason other than to be kind. These boots are fantastic and are worth the money. They were a lifesaver while on several winter campus interviews, trudging through sloppy streets and slippery walkways. Practical, but stylish. High quality. I'm petite, with what I think are smallish legs. But I'm a runner. I could barely zip the boots around my calves. So if you are athletic, you might go ahead and get the larger width. That being said, though snug at first, they were comfortable all day long, both in the calves and on the foot. Can't recommend La Canadienne enough!

I absolutely love this beautiful black leather boot from La Canadienne. The square toe was exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it wouldn't zip up over my size 14 calves. I am so very disappointed as these are awesome looking boots and are definitely worth the price. I'm sending these back. Zappos.com you are the greatest. This boot is super comfortable and stylish. I have fairly narrow ankles and calves and this boot fits nicely, although it could be slightly more snug at the very top circumference to perfect the fit. It does fit, however, way better than most boots which are usually much too wide in the shaft, arch and around the ankle for me. Also, being 5'2" this boot has a good shaft height for me. I also need to mention that the heel is the perfect height. Looks sleek and dressy (but can also be dressed down) and is not too high for comfort. I liked these boots so much that I have since ordered 2 other styles of La Canadienne boots with similar heel heights. All are super comfortable. Just wish they were a little less expensive. Nevertheless, I wish these came in dark brown, too. For some reason it seems to be only available in black.

I love ordering through Zappos! Not only did I receive the shoes I ordered two days after I ordered them, but I loved that I didn't have to send them back because I absolutely loved them!
