Beautiful, comfortable shoe. However, there is a design flaw which, for the price, shouldn't be there. Another reviewer mentioned a slip appearing in the felt part of the shoe; mine did the same in the heel. It wasn't until I'd worn them once or twice that I noticed, so I kept them. I've had them for more than a year and continue to wear them. So far, the slit hasn't gotten worse but it does mar the appearance a bit.

The problem with this shoe is two things... one is that it really does not run very large, as the description suggests. The length was ok, but the toe box cuts down on the top of your foot in an odd way that made the shoe feel narrow and uncomfortable to me. For just that, I would have reordered a size up. But the other thing... this shoe is described as "shiny leather", and it looks like leather in the picture, but it would really best be described as sparkly suede. Not what I had in mind, and although I truly love Naots, this is a lot to pay for a suede shoe, because they tend not to wear all that well.

Seemed too wide at widest part of my foot. It had great arch support. I would try again.

I admit they are super comfortable but they look like like granny shoes at a very high price point. I just couldn't get over that and so they are going back.

Bought my first pair of Naot Matai in 2012. Work in retail & these were the most comfortable shoe I'd ever worn & they looked great. After 2 1/2 years of constant wear, finally had to buy a new pair. I didn't even hesitate to order another pair of Matai. Again, they were incredibly comfortable right out of the box. But, this time, they did not wear well. After 7 months, the leather has worn, especially the leather piping where the white cord is now showing through in several spots. Very disappointing for this price to be having this problem in little over a half year! Trying to decide whether or not to purchase again.

I can't really say how comfortable this shoe is because I couldn't really put it on. A larger size might help some, but my arches are too high to fit in the shoe. It comes up pretty high on the foot and there simply wasn't room. I'm not sure it would have been wide enough, either. I was hopeful based on the reviews. The pictures don't do it justice, it's a good-looking shoe. My search for a stylish leather walking shoe continues.

These were good in most ways. I have very slightly wide-in-the-toes feet (not wide enough for W) and these were indeed wide enough. But the toe box wasn't quite tall enough so it was rather snug over the top. I have rather meaty, tall feet, so if yours aren't so meaty they'll probably be good. I also found that they felt shallow in the heel, like there was supposed to be another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of leather. If you are someone who is annoyed by the heel leather going too far up toward your ankles, you'll probably like these a lot. They are comfortable enough that if I didn't have other choices, I would have kept them. As it was, the Earth Clover worked better for me.

The Naot Matai is a beautiful shoe but be aware - this color is actually a bronze-tone (not silver like the picture) and has a distressed finish. Mine was quite blotchy. It also fell off my heel. I have returned them.

I was very excited for this shoe to arrive as I have pronation issues the deep heel bed sounded wonderful. It did not work for me; gaps on each side. The size was only a little large.

I love Naot sandals and wanted to love this shoe, but it's simply too wide, and felt "mushy" when I wore it. Alas, it's not for a low-volume foot, I'm afraid.

These shoes are incredibly comfortable. I have plantar fasciitis and the Clarks Wave that I was wearing before really bothered my condition. These shoes felt great on my feet. I could wear them for hours without any discomfort. They are not the most stylish shoes but they are better than most "orthopedic/comfort" shoes. I've only had them for 10 months and two things have happened. The velcro doesn't close right any more. It has come to the point where sometimes when I'm walking the velcro pops off. The suede part of the shoe has developed an ~1" horizontal hole in it. I just noticed it today. Who knows how long it's been there. I feel like I paid too much to have these types of problems with the shoe so soon.

My foot is narrow. Would not be able to wear these if it weren't for the hook/loop strap. I purchased two pair. The luggage brown color is as described. The pearl black leather does not look black and when I wore them with black slacks I could see a definite difference. If you are looking for black then purchase the black leather. The pearl black is closer to a deep cocoa brown and the suede accent is a burnt senna brown. Not satisfied with the color but I wore them so I'm stuck with shoes that do not look good with black slacks.

Orthaheel for support but their "leather" is plastic.

This shoe is super comfy and easy to put on and wear all day. Therefore, the leather is super soft and does not hold the foot in the shoe real well, even with the strap tight. My foot slid all around in it and out of it. If you do not need a structured shoe, this one may be for you.

Very much bigger than expected. My Naot sandals are true to size. These, even with velcro closures, were very large. And I ordered down as it was.

These shoes are cute but I have a problem with them staying on my foot properly because the strap is not straight across but at an angle and my foot kind of lifts up when I walk. The shoe is not too big just fits weird. I will keep them but not do a lot of walking.

I have a couple of pairs of Naots from the Koru Collection (Nau Mau and Rongo) and thought they would be my go to shoes from now on so I ordered this pair with high expectations. They were immediately super comfortable, as I expected, but within a week I found that the leather had stretched so much that I now have to wear them with thick socks, otherwise my feet swim in them. So now they have become my walking shoes for cold weather instead of shoes that I can wear to work or to social occasions. I was very disappointed.

More "shimmery" than they appear in photo. Seemed to run large, had to return anyway.

These are comfortable and plush but a little too artistic looking for me. I feel like I need to live in Santa Fe or Sedona to wear them. The photo is not very clear, but there us a silver trim running around the shoe which I do not love.

I'm a Naot groupie - do and would wear nothing but - if I could always find the style I need. That said, the Matai's I received fit...but when I walk, there's a gap by the heels. Truth is, most of my Naots are heel less, sandals and clogs so it could be my foot vis a vis Naot's shape. This won't keep me from being a Naot groupie... just this much money down the tube - ouch!

I have tiny feet (size 4). These were a little loose. Also the style did not work for dainty feet like mine. On the feet, the shoes look much more like clogs than the picture suggested.

I'm really sorry I got these shoes in a 36 and have worn them enough they can't be returned. I like the way they look and hoped they'd be comfortable. The metal hook on the top digs into my foot and makes me limp if I wear them for very long, even with the padding of socks, so this pretty much defeats the purpose of wearing them for comfort. This might be solved by putting a little strap of padding that could lie under the metal. I also think the shoe is simply too big. I normally wear a 6-6 1/2 and can sometimes go down to a 5 1/2 if they run wide. These shoes have at least a centimeter gap between my heel and the shoe, which may be the reason the metal digs into my foot. Perhaps a snugger fit would eliminate this problem, but honestly, I've never had to wear a size 4. After stretching out a bit, these flop around on my feet like big old boats. I'd either need a size 4 or probably just a whole different shoe. It's a shame since they were quite expensive.

I just received the Naot Matai yesterday, and I wore them today for work. I hesitated to size down as Naot suggests because of my experience with other Naot shoes. I'm glad I didn't as, while the shoe seems large, it really isn't. The top-to-bottom space in the forefoot of the shoe is fairly narrow, so a smaller size, at least for my feet, would have been a mistake. I was disappointed with the sole support. I walk over cement often at work, and I felt the cement more than I would have thought I should given the other reviews of this product. Yes, the shoes are very comfortable, but they are not as supportive as I would have expected for the price. Sadly, I am not even sure I like how they look on my feet. They are different (which I like), but, the pointy big toe area seems to detract from the overall appearance of the shoe. I am keeping them, but they are definitely not going to be my "go to" shoe.

I really wanted to love these shoes. I'm a size 7.5 and I got 2 styles in sizes 37 & 38 and neither size fit even after trying to wear in the smaller size around the house. They're really cute though!

Great fit and although it is somewhat comfortable, I feel that the toe box should have been deeper. I sized down as instructed because I am regularly 9½ and I do not know how the fit would have been if I tried one size up. I can only wear this sans socks, as wearing a pair of socks will leave no more wiggle room.

I have flat feet and overpronate. Have small bunions and started to develop hammertoes due to wearing slides and thongs, which I no longer do. This is a very cute shoe with good cushioning. The color combination will allow me to wear them with any color skirt or slacks. However, I am surprised at the lack of arch support after having read the other reviews. There is none. I will keep these shoes due to the style and color only, and replace the insole with a more supportive one. Will be very hesitant to purchase Naots in the future. Other brands offer more support. These will probably work better for someone who has custom orthotics they wish to use.
