These are, without doubt, the most wonderful pair of shoes I've ever owned. A variety of mobility and balance problems require careful shoe choice for me. The Naot Matai provides total comfort: ample toe room, superb arch support, excellent shock absorption. I walk with assurance now because my feet not only feel protected and comfortable, they are. Additionally, the shoe's design is timely, attractive, and well made. It is the first shoe I've ever had which I could simply put on and wear. I heartily recommend these shoes and Naot.

I just bought two pairs of this shoe, wore them all weekend, and am buying more. These are the most comfortable, well fitting shoes I have found in a long time. I have a high instep, narrow heel, wide front of foot, and need arch support. These shoes accommodate all of that. The shape of the front comfortably fits my foot and the strap keeps me from walking out of the shoe. The footbed is comfortably padded. I also have some knee pain from an old injury. It flares up occasionally, especially if I have to walk on concrete. This weekend I walked 12 long city blocks in NYC with no discomfort. I wore the black pair to dinner and got compliments. On the way back, I passed another woman wearing a pair and we gave each other a thumbs up. I packed up all my other shoes and don’t want to wear anything else. Your writeup says they run large, but on me they fit true to the size I usually get. Possibly it is my wide foot that fills them up more than a normal foot. It is a generous fit. I am usually a D, and this, while marked M, fits me comfortably. Maybe it is the natural foot shape. Whatever it is, this shoe is a real find for difficult to fit feet.

OMG - any second thoughts I had about the price of these have flown out the window. I ordered my usual European size and they are true to size. These are as cute as they look and fit like a glove, wonderful arch support (actually, full-foot). The velcro strap even works over my high arch. I want it in all colors (except maybe the white - but would definitely recommend those to anyone looking for a comfortable white shoe). I got the orange this time. The Zappos shoe fairy came through again - they were on my doorstep less than 24 hours after placing the order.

These shoes are excellent. They have a moderate arch support and a supportive heel cup. They felt comfortable from the moment I put them on. No need to break them in.

I own one pair of these, and they're wonderful. Very comfortable to walk in, without being too heavy and without causing any blisters. Not the most stylish shoe, but cute with trousers or a skirt and dark stockings.

So comfortable - great cushioning and good arch support. Plenty of room in the toe box, too. I would recommend these to a friend.

This shoe has been a life saver for me. I broke a bone in my foot early in the year and after the requested boot cast needed to find a good, supportive comfortable shoe! I believed Zappos when they directed me to a size small and as usual they were correct. I am still wearing them and although they look a bit 60's flower child...they are very comfortable and have gotten me healthy. Thanks Zappos! P.S. You really need to heed the size instructions as I did order a full size smaller than normal.

Very cute, very comfortable, stylish. I wanted a shoe that would enable me to walk comfortably around the streets of Europe this summer, but also provide a dressier look than the "outdoor" type shoes. I think this shoe will fit the bill very nicely. I have not walked a lot in them, but from what I can tell they will not rub blisters on my heels. The customer reviews were helpful when I ordered Matai. I usually wear a 7 1/2 or 8, but ordered 7.

I purchased this shoe to wear in Europe and Ireland over 2 years ago. I took a pair of sneakers with me on the 2 week trip... I never wore them. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They have a great arch support and look as good today as they did new. I highly recommend them. They look much better than sneakers and can be worn with skirts to sweats. Perfect for long vacations with lots of walking and they are light to pack. I will buy another when these get worn out.

This criticism is completely peculiar to me, though, and not a fault of the shoe. The arch support is fantastic and the toe box is wide. They do run big, though, so listen to the advice in the other reviews.

Very comfy--almost like a bedroom slipper--but with great arch support. Great style for such a comfortable shoe. I bought this style in three colors.

Great and unique style in a comfort shoe! The more you wear it, the more it conforms to your foot and gets even more comfortable. I get compliments whenever I wear them!

I agree with the gal who has the issue with shoes that fit her wide toes and high instep. I cannot find shoes to fit my little Dutch foot, until now. These shoes are amazing. They are so comfortable and sharp looking. Not clunky at all. I love the narrow band of gold where the leather uppers meet the side suede. I've already ordered the white and silver as well as the black and black. I will be making a stop at the Goodwill with all the shoes I have that don't fit! Please note I bought my own size (38) and can wear these with light socks or barefoot. Both in comfort! PS I usually buy a wide shoe to try and get them to fit.

I'm a devoted fan of Naot shoes. This is the second pair of Matai I've owned. My first pair is black and has been to 7 countries with me on my travels. These are very comfortable shoes right out of the box. The construction is very sturdy and they hold their shape very well, despite the beating I've given them. When my feet are just about done in at the end of a day, these shoes are what I slip into. Highly recommended.

These are absolutely the best shoes I have ever worn. The shape is perfect-sensible yet good looking -I have favorable comments on them. I am wearing them all the time, at home and out as they are so comfortable. The irritations that other shoes would give my feet are nonexistent. My big toe no longer is bending inward since these shoes have the pointy part where my toe is, not in the middle over my smaller middle toes. Don't ever stop making this style.

I am a hairdresser, so I am ALWAYS looking for comfortable shoes. I am also 27 so a lot of styles are out-dated and orthopedic looking. These shoes are amazing!!! Many colors to choose from, and I don't look like I'm a grandma! I bought the "metal" color and they will be great for many different outfits, and I am definitely going to buy a second pair!!! I wear an 8.5-9 and originally ordered a size 40 to be safe, sent them back and got a size 39. the whole return process took less than 4 days!! Incredible! Thank you Zappos!!!!

I bought the Naot Matai because of the reviews... and found them to be true! The arch support is superior, and that’s of primary importance to me since I have plantar fasciitis and tend to have pain if the support isn’t good enough. I ordered 1/2 size smaller, due to the reviews, and I find I cannot wear nylons and socks with them, so I’ll save them for a little warmer weather. I foresee ordering these same shoes in more than one color, since they are adorable, comfortable, and if they hold up as reviewed, well worth the price.

I first bought the black/hash version of this shoe. I was amazed. I have a hard time finding shoes that don’t rub my little toes, which are way down the side of my foot where shoe designers never thought they might be. The funny duckbill shape of the Matai seems to accommodate every toe in comfort. Plus, the slanted strap doesn’t rub on my [high] instep. Plus, they are almost ridiculously comfortable: padded yet strong and supportive. So now I am hooked, a Naot junkie. I bought the lime green, and would buy more if they were in colors that worked for me. I did try the larger size, as directed, but the 39, my normal size, worked better. Happy feet!

I love these shoes. I have arthritis in my feet and found walking, even a moderate distance, painful until I discovered NAOT Matai. They are more comfortable than going barefoot. I walked five miles this weekend with no problems. The cork lining molds to your feet. They run slightly wide giving your toes plenty of room. These are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. They're now the only shoes I wear.

This is my second pair of Naot Matai. They are extremely comfortable and cute. Literally, people have stopped me to ask where I got my shoes. Also Zappos delivery was super fast.

I have terrible feet and leg problems and am always searching for a comfortable shoe that also looks great. I saw a woman in a upscale department store wearing these and practically ran her down to find out who made them and where she got them. She said they were made by Naot so I went to Zappos to see if I could find them. Sure enough, there they were,called Matai. I ordered the metal and black and absolutely love them. They are comfortable to wear, supporting my feet in all the right places and I get tons of compliments when I wear them. And, of course, the service at Zappos can't be beat. Free shipping and stuff usually arrives within a day or two. Will probably order another pair for spring.

These are the most comfy shoes ever, I have 3 pair. The support is subtle, but surprisingly good. I took the insole out of one pair to improve a pair or Merril clogs. Wish you could just buy this Naot insole. I have orange, silver, and metallic plum, Wish they would do more exciting bright colors, the metallic is the best. These are nice barefoot or with socks because the natural suede insole breathes. Not a minute of breaking in is needed. The only negative is the loop part of the velcro gets fuzzed out so the hook part can’t grab well and it comes undone. I will sew a new velcro loop on eventually.

So close! I bought these shoes in black. The fit is good, the width is good, the look is great. However, I have bunions. This shoe is constructed so that the leather lining of the side of the shoe, comes together with the padding at the top of the toe of the shoe right at the point of my bunion. That seam rubs the bunion. I was so disappointed because they were as close as I have come to a good shoe that is comfortable and versatile. I'm going to try another style in the Naot line.

I'm always on the lookout for black shoes that will be comfortable when I stand for an hour, singing with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. My search is over! These Naot shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had on my feet. There was no break-in period at all. I can stand for an hour and feel no fatigue or pain in my feet afterwards. The woman who owns the Great Harvest Bakery franchise in Akron, and another singer in the chorus both have these shoes and have the same positive reaction. If you walk a lot with travel, or if you're on your feet all day, these are the shoes for you!
