This is a great pair of summer boots along with a pair of shorts or a skirt to add a little bit of an edge to your outfit; great with a light motorcycle jacket. Advice: These boots must be broken in before any attempts of prolonged use. When I first got the boots I couldn't wait to wear them, but the top part of the boot (the rim) kept hitting my calf all day and eventually end up with a bruised ring from repeated hits. Eventually I undid the lace, folded the top of the boot (like you would peel a banana) and left it untouched for a week. After the boots were finally broken, I love it!

Love them! They're the same boots I wore to death in the 1990s, but with better cushioning in the sole. I wore my old pair so long I must have forgotten about the killer pain of breaking them in. Don't do what I did in your excitement to get your feet in them. Take the time to slowly break them in. Your heels and lower calves will thank you.

I love this shoe! I have to say, I'm nothing but pleased with my purchase of this product! At first I was nervous about how painful they would be to break in. I've heard a lot of horror stories, but it really wasn't too bad. The first week is a little uncomfortable, but not unbearable. My advice is to wear thick socks and don't tie them too tight. They look pretty great on, and they feel super durable.

Doc Martens - the best - This shoe definitely runs smaller than most Docs. But as with every Doc I have, I love them and they are so very comfortable!

Super comfortable and light! The black nappa 1460W are super comfortable the moment you put them on. They're really light, and the leather is soft. Of course, the soles are nice and bouncy, as we have come to expect from Dr. Martens.

If you're female... get the 1460W!!! I wore these 20 years ago all through college and grad school... decided I missed the comfort and cool styling, bought the unisex 1460s and thought, "I WORE these?" The fit was huge, the leather so stiff I could barely walk. I tried the 1460s in the "W" model in black napa and it was as if I'd owned them all my life right out of the box. What a difference! Better fit, MUCH more comfortable... I'm an 8 1/2 - 9 M and the 9 fit me perfectly with crew socks. No wearing ace bandages to break them in! If you have an average woman's size, go for the "W" and NOT THE UNISEX!!!

I'm typically a size 8.5 or 9. I bought the 8's and they were so tight that they made my feet numb. After reading reviews online, I decided to take out the soles and I wore them around with thick socks for about a week. I'm so glad I stuck it out and stretched them out- now, these boots fit like a glove and are so comfortable. The compliments don't hurt either!

I so wanted these to work! I bought the size 8, they were too small and way too snug. I bought the 9 and they were way too big. I guess my feet are not for these boots! If you love purple, you will adore this violet color! They are gorgeous boots! I was very sorry to have to send them back! Zappos customer service is A++. They were helpful to me and I am still looking for my boots that I can wear in the winter and in the barn. My daughter wears Dr. Martens and loves them! So it must be my foot!

Very painful to break in, my heels and the top of my foot really hurt after the first few wears. However it was well worh the pain, as these are very confortable now. I love how they add an edge to my outfit.The quality is fantastic.I am usually a size 5 or 5 1/2 so I bought the 5 and they fit perfectly.

Color good but prefer softer material - Love Docs and love the red color --- unlike other red Docs I ordered which ended up looking more like hot pink to my eyes --- but I prefer the softer nappa type leather to the smooth type. The smooth is rather stiff and uncomfortable and I only buy the non-smooth materials these days.

Commit to breaking these in - Have already worn these a few times. Like how they look, but boy are they stiff. By the end of the day my feet feel kind of numb. I suspect these will take a year to break in fully, but I'm up for the commitment. The plus side is they will probably last 10 years. The blue is a little more subdued than shown on my computer monitor, but still nice.

Comfortable, classic, classy - My fourteen year old daughter wears her red 1460 with comfort and pride. Orthotics fit nicely. The leather was a little stiff initially and softened nicely after a couple of wearings. To quote her "My friends say the boots are cool."

I ordered these boots after realizing sadly that the very old Dr. Martens that I used to wear were now too small after having kids. Since I've gone up a size after having my two kids that's the perfect excuse for buying new shoes I guess. Anyway, the old boots, which I've had forever, were worn down and too tight. The new boots, which I ordered in a size 11, arrived overnight and as soon as I put them on I was happy, the leather is softer than my old boots, even after so many years of wear. They go up higher as well, my old boots stopped at my ankle, these go up a bit higher past my ankle, which I love the look of. They are softer, more flexible when I walk, which will probably make the break in period easier. You still have to break in ALL Dr. Martens, I think, even if the leather is advertised as softer. But there will be a lot less tears with breaking in the Nappa Leather. I'm very pleased with these boots.

I've been wearing Doc Martens for two decades now and have always had this style in black, but this time I got them in red. They still have all the great features of Doc Martens – sturdy, comfortable, and excellent ankle support, but are about 100% cuter in red! I wear them with pretty much everything (the exception- not good with business suits) and pretty much everywhere, including to work. Like all Docs, expect a break-in period (this is the price you pay for sturdiness- my last pair of Docs in this style lasted 8 years), and order a size larger than you would with other brands of shoes because they always seem to run large. If like me, you are a classic black Doc Marten wearer, try one of the colors this time! And as always, great service from Zappos- after finding Zappos, I do not buy shoes anywhere else. They cannot be beat for customer service, convenience and selection.

Dr. Martens's Classics 1460 W-8 Eye Boot - These shoes are super comfortable as well as stylish. Required no breaking in, the Napa Leather was soft already. Seems good quality and durable. I am usually an 8 1/2 American and I ordered an 8, which fits perfectly.

Great Boots - I was looking for a good boot to wear while riding a motorcycle and these are prefect. Zappos was easy to use and the delivery was very fast.

Classic Footwear - I used to own a pair way back when. They are just as comfortable and all purpose now that I am older...

These boots rock! No break-in time needed, they were comfortable from day one. I've worn them almost exclusively since I got them. I wore them to a job interview - in a manufacturing plant - with a pin stripe suit. I got the job.

Docs rock - My first pair of classic Doc boots. They fit great out of the box. I bought the nappa leather, so they are much softer leather than is typical in Doc Martens. The softer leather makes the top part of the boots flex when I walk and even when driving. I walked all day with no problems. They go great with jeans and you can dress them up with a crisp pressing on your jeans.

Great Boots! These boots fit great! At first they felt a bit tight across the toes. I was worried they'd be too tight so I bought the men’s equivalent. The men's were very loose in the toes and would've stretched out to be too big. I decided to take a chance on the 1460 W and I am glad I did. They stretched and conformed to my feet quickly and I've worn my new Doc's everyday since I purchased them. I love them!

Love this shoe! Great shoe! I had a pair of Docs in high school and they were so incredibly durable. I had the steel toe ones and they were so comfy. I have the boots now and I live in the Northeast and they are great for the snow and winter. I love them then and I love them now.

Violet 1460 W - Awesome shoe! I got the violet type, love it to the max. I saw most other people thought that it was true to fit, but I’m a 39/8.5 Womens and found that getting the UK 6 fits just fine! Thanks Zappos! Excellent and fast delivery!

Love!!!! I love the Violet color! I'd describe it as a beautiful garnet shade which makes these a little more femme than my 'greasy black' Docs I wore 15 years ago but still edgy and cool. Did not find these any different in size than the original black leather (read they run a bit narrow and small but I did not find that to be the case for me and I do not have teeny feet. Fit great out of the box but expect them to get even better with a bit more wear. Wish the arch support was a bit better but padded insoles made 'em perfect.

looks awesome - the first time I put them on I knew that they were going to be awesome..fit, style and comfort all in one...I love this boot and the violet color rocks.
