No arch support, unflattering shoe - This shoe is quite different from the 843 which it replaced! The colors and materials are the same, but the overall look is much less attractive and most important to me, there is practically no arch support! While still a comfortable shoe, one which is made specifically for walking should definitely have adequate arch support! Bring back the 843 - it's an infinitely better quality shoe.

Not your 843s! I could put on my 843s and be comfortable for twenty hours - these stress my feet. Not sure what the problem might be, but I'm changing brands.

This is not as comfortable as the shoe it replaced (843)! It looks the same in the picture, but the construction is not comfortable for the top and sides of the foot. This is due to heavy seams where your foot flexes.

Different shoe different color - I wanted the good arch support NB provides and light color for summer so ordered the blue & white pair. Despite having the same model number, 844, these blue/white shoes do not fit the same as the black color. I could see a good half inch more of elastic on the top back heel which makes the black ones more comfortable. I even called New Balance: a customer service rep insisted that there was no difference in style. There is. I have finally gotten used to these and don't have to wear a Band-Aid on my heels anymore. I am not fond of the pink ribbon embroidered on the tongue. My next order will be another pair of black. I will also try other brands now.

Ouch! Not like its predecessors! I have been wearing the New Balance 840 series for years: for work, recreation, exercise. I loved the 843s, but the 844s are very different. First, they are clearly shorter. I ordered the same size and my toe hits the end of the shoe. The 843s didn't require breaking in; these are very uncomfortable as I walk around the house with them and I expect I will return them. They also appear to have been cheapened.

Not as good as the old model! The older model of this sneaker fit me better and provided better support. I wear a 10N and this is a bit too wide for me.

New Balance WW844 - I have worn the New Balance WW843 for several years for now as I am a serious fitness walker and I have really enjoyed the 843. I needed to replace my shoes and tried to order the 843 but it's no longer available as the 844 is now the new model. I am a little disappointed with the 844 as it looks and feels bulkier than the 843. The shoe also rubs against the side of my foot whereas the 843 never did that. I ordered the same size as before (7.5) but I am willing to give the 844 a chance as I know new shoes usually need to be broken in yet with the 843 I didn't need a breaking in period as the shoe fit perfectly and felt incredible the very 1st day I wore them. Definitely order a 1/2 size up as my normal street shoe size is a 7 but you want room for thicker workout socks so I ordered a 7.5. I just hope that the 844 shoes will eventually be as comfortable as the 843 were. Why did New Balance have to change this shoe anyway??!!

Surprisingly, not wide enough - I've bought New Balance "2E" width walking shoes for years and years. They've always been perfect - no break in time at all. However, these shoes are not comfortable, even after several wearings. The left shoe is very tight in the area where the toes meet the foot. Flexing my toes actually hurts in these shoes. I'm still trying to break them in. I won't give up on New Balance so quickly, but I am disappointed in this particular style.

Small shoe - When ordering this shoe order a full size bigger. However, this shoe was not only small, but very narrow. The arch support was not as good as some of their other shoes. On the plus side, it is all leather and a nice looking shoe in the white with a little blue trim.

Needed good walking shoe - I was impressed with the advertising of this shoe which states that it is cushioned well for walking. I do find that it is well cushioned however, I found that the size 10 (I normally wear a size 9 l/2) is a little short. I do appreciate the fact that the shoe is narrow. (narrows are very hard to find). The shoe is too stiff and I hope that with some more wear it will soften up.

Acceptable - This shoe was not nearly as comfortable as the 992 I purchased. It was the actual style or make of the shoe. It was tight around the top of the toe box and beginning of the laces.

New Balance made unfortunate changes to a great shoe - I have worn New Balance 840 series for years. I particularly liked the 843. I adapted to the changes in the past--some were improvements-- but this change is dysfunctional for me and I have changed brands. It is just for me a generally uncomfortable shoe which will not break in. It seems to have less padding and cuts into the top of my foot just beyond the toes; Sizing is the same as always.

WW844 - The sneakers looked great, but were too big. Felt a half size larger than marked. I was disappointed. I had bought the 843 sneaker last year and loved it. I got a blister on the bottom of my foot wearing these sneakers. I should have stayed with the 843. Thanks.

Disappointing - Bought at a shoe store with 'expert' recommendation and spent the money. Liked narrow width and comfort on the 'try on.' Once I walked in them in the real world, they were the most uncomfortable shoes I have owned. No arch support, my feet burned and I can't return them...Feel like my feet are strapped to blocks.
