NB-elievable comfort - I've worn walking shoes (2-3 prs/year) for over 10 years and this is by far the most comfortable one yet. It is so weightless yet strong and supportive. If you are sick of trying shoe after shoe and are willing to pay a little bit more, this is the one for you! I've bought two pair; one for home and one for the office. Simply the best!!

I walk 4 miles/day and find that these are great shoes. The only problem, they are new and I have blisters on the heel (even with band aids) so walking is limited at present. I like the toe space and find them generally comfortable. I like that I can get them snug enough for the heel and that they stay that way throughout my walk. I will stick with NB from here on.

844 new balance walk shoe - I have 843, an excellent shoe with good support, which is worn out and it's "replacement 844 8 1/2 w...which does not have as good support or comfort as 843...I purchased 844 9w to see if it was the size, not the support...844 9w actually has less support than 8 1/2 W, which makes me believe it was made in china...as most of their shoes do not run equal to our American sizes...It is barely ok for walking...surely, not ok for any heavy duty walking, such as travel. I had to pad the heel as it was too loose and the tongue...same reason, which was odd as the other shoe was fine in the heel and front. I can imagine a slight difference in 1/2 size...but this was more than slight...it will do with heavier socks...but certainly not the best shoe I have ever had...too bad. I now need to look for a better walking shoe as I do a lot of walking!

I think New Balance 843 felt better on your feet. The back of the heel is too low. Could be a thicker sole and a better arch support.

Great shoe after breaking them in - These gave me blisters on my heels. I really liked the way the feel when walking though because they have great support. If you are to buy these, I'd recommend doing short walks until you feel they are broken in.

NB844 - I've had NB before and love the wider toe box. I did not feel the 844 had as much arch support as the 843's, so I have to wear an insert with these. Also, there is some difficulty w/seam placement on the back of the ankle, it digs and causes severe blister, however w/the arch support it has provided the lift to alleviate that problem. Order 1/2 size bigger! Happy walking.

New Balance 844 - 844s are the new 843s. Somewhat less cushion than in the 843s and a bit wider in appearance (i.e. clumsier looking). Otherwise quite comfortable.

New Balance 844 - Have gotten used to ordering the NB shoes 1/2 size larger than I normally take. Shoe is nicely cushioned with room in toe box to wiggle toes. Sales person on phone was extremely helpful and expedited shipment so I could have it for a school trip where we do massive amounts of walking.

Decent Black Sneaker - I needed a black sneaker for work and after searching all over, the 844 seemed the best choice. While it is pretty comfortable, my heels slip in them and I'm constantly pulling my socks up! I took others' advice and bought it a size larger, which may have been a mistake. I think I should have bought a half size larger instead.

I prefer the look and feel of the 843 much better than the 844. I wish the 843 had not been discontinued.

Walking Shoes - The NB SL2 last of the 844 is perfect for my foot. I walk four miles a day. Love them!

Great walking shoe - I tried on several different walking shoes before settling on this one. The tongue is interesting - it has elastic on the inside - makes it very easy to get the shoe on and off. The SL-2 last has a narrow heel and wide toe box, that works for me narrow foot with long toes. It runs small, I usually wear an 8.5 - I have to wear a 9.5 in all New Balance shoes. It was comfortable from the moment I put it on. The shoe laces were way too long, I had to replace them. I wish it were more stylist - but at 7:00 in the morning no one really notices my shoes when I'm doing my workout.

A Comfortable Walker - The New Balance 844 is nothing like its predecessor the 843. It is shorter and wider than the 843, which ran more true to size. It still has the excellent cushioning and support of a high-end New Balance walker.

I like this shoe and will buy it again. The comfort is really great. I have arthritis in my heels and this shoe is so comfortable that I can enjoy my walks and work all day with minimum discomfort.

Great for wide feet - This shoe replaced the 843 which was better, but the 844 will be OK and seems to be a good fit for my wide feet.

Why change a good thing? I have bought 11 pairs of NB 843s. Three pair for my mother and the rest for me. I loved the NB843 shoe. My mother and I have flat feet and narrow heels. I also wear orthotics. I was upset when the NB844s came out. The heels are almost an inch lower down from my ankle and my feet continually feel like they're slipping out. I have a year to return, so I will be looking for a replacement. Why did they change? New Balance dropped the ball on this one!

NB WW844 works for me... The NB WW844 is not the cutest shoe. I bought them for work and chose them over a heavier leather NB walking shoe. I like the mesh, they're light weight and my feet don't get hot. Good support, no complaints from my feet after wearing them 12 hours. I'll probably buy another pair to rotate.

Podiatrist recommended - Not the most stylish sneaker, but serves its purpose for providing necessary support and can be worn with custom orthotics. Should be tried on as sizing runs smaller. I measure size 8 ½, but had to buy one size larger. I researched the different New Balance styles and found these to be rated the best for support and comfort. I had major foot surgery and needed these for their support for healing and recovery. I would like to see a supportive shoe with more style, but this will have to do.

Excellent comfort but pretty ugly! I bought several other New Balances and returned them before finding these. My feet are very wide and I was having problems with blisters. With these I was able to get the correct length AND width. They are very comfortable. I was able to wear them the first day I got them on my 3 mile walk, with no problems!

New Balance WW844 - Remarks – 1. Good comfort. 2. Good width. 3. Good arch support. 4. Roomy toe box. Complaints- 1. The back of the shoe (flap) collapses while inserting foot. 2. Heel area is a bit too roomy.

They work. Fairly comfortable - could be a bit wider across the forefoot. Heel works on my narrow heel - this is extremely important. This shoe not as stabilizing as my Saucony Hurricanes with flaring soles.

New Balance 843 - The shoe is actually New Balance 843 and not 844(which was the model marked on the box) — but it felt really good when I tried it on. So why bother to return it for #844 (which was what I ordered) when it seemed to work. So far it has been very comfortable for NYC and country walking (3-4mi). Though the right shoe seems to fit much smaller than the left, so far it hasn't caused me any problems. I would order it again.

This shoe was an immediate, comfortable fit. Ready to do its job and walk where ever I wanted to go.

These are SL-2, not SL-1 - I love the New Balance SL-1 fit, but this is SL-2 (note error in description). Overall, they appear to be good shoes. I prefer more arch support and cushioning (I think these are intended as more of a "stability" than cushioning shoe). Like all New Balance, order up in size.

Replacing the 843 - NB made a mistake by replacing the 843. This shoe is definitely not an improvement! I have purchased and worn 843s for approximately 6 years, buying 3 to 4 pair annually from a variety of sources and the 844 doesn't compare for comfort or support. It's stiff and uncomfortable. I feel fortunate to have been able to locate 3 pair of 843s in my size. I don't know what I'll do when they're gone!
