Felt 1/2 size too small. Love the look and when tried on they were very comfortable. Returning for the next size up.

Based on so many reviews on this site saying that the shoe runs small, I ordered half a size up - guess I must be in the minority because it was too big! The shoe also felt kind of stiff around my ankles. Would've probably been ok with some serious breaking in, if it had been the right size.

Was a little tight, but a half size larger would have been too big. Felt pretty stiff and not as comfortable as my boots. Does feel very much like a good hiking boot.

Bought these to replace another pair of Keen hiking shoes that are no longer made. I mainly use them to walk in, but I do use them to hike several times per year. I have plantar fasciitis and fallen arches and have found that a very stiff sole with an orthotic insert works best for me. If you're looking for a flexible shoe, this isn't for you. The arch support isn't enough for my issues, but I would say it's excellent if you don't have my foot problems. The Keen sandals for light walking have always had enough support, but for some reason the lace up shoes lack enough arch support for me. I always buy those in 1/2 size larger and add my own orthotic with a good arch. I like the shoe a lot, but the fit is a bit odd. I purchased 1/2 size larger as recommended. They fit fine in length, but feel a bit wide to me. That would be fine if I could cinch the laces tighter, but tightening them is limited with the structure of the shoe. They slide off my heels a tad when I walk and I've been using thick socks with them. I like them and will use them, but would I purchase these exact shoes again? Probably not. Like all of my Keens, they'll last a while and I'll definitely use them, but their not ideal for me. I would imagine that if you need a wide shoe, that you could buy 1/2 size bigger and they would be perfect for you. This is the first pair of Keens that I've owned, (and I've owned a lot,) that have had a sizing issue for me. They are usually spot on with sizing.

This shoe is spacious in the toe box which I like and appreciate. However, it is lower cut than is comfortable for my arthritic foot. Also, it has a somewhat abrasive stanchion on the inner heel area that seems to cut into my foot through the fabric. I do have significant neuropathy in my feet from spinal cord injury... so this hyper sensitivity could be just me and you might not even notice it. It is a nice shoe to consider.

Very comfortable in the toe area and wonderfully waterproof, but the heel area was loose and causing slippage. No option for different threading of the shoe lace. I bought the larger size, which I would recommend.

So, these. They are on my feet, took them out of the box a half hour ago. They really are instantly comfortable on my slightly wide, pre-buniony 53 year old feet. I wanted something that could go from bumming around Boston doing errands to light hiking. My first impression is that they are heavy. Somehow, I thought they would be much lighter than they are. But this speaks to the construction, which looks very, very good. There is no toe pressure and there is plenty of room for them without feeling like too much room. I haven't taken them out of the house on the street yet, and will update my review after I've actually put them to work. For now, I will keep them for the hiking aspect. The bumming around town, well, I'm still looking for something less "substantial."

I love Keen. They are the only hiking shoes I buy. This is my first pair with the Keen Dry. Compared to the others these are a bit bulkier. As usual with Keens I always have to go up 1/2 a size, but these are a full size up. Thankful for the reviews that stated this. So I wear a 9, normally buy 9 1/2 in most Keens, and this style is a 10. Make sure to read the reviews and sizing chart. I love the look and comfort. Again as with others it takes awhile to get the lacing right, once they stretch a bit it does get easier. I almost returned these because I could not get them tight enough but finally just cranked on the laces and they finally moved. I'm not as happy with these as the other styles, only because they are heavier/bulkier/more stiff, but still far better than any other brands I've tried. The walk ready comfort is always there.

Bummed that I went with the advice to size up 1/2 size. I was swimming in these! I guess not all feet are created equal when it comes to the fit of this shoe. Will try for my standard size and see what happens. Seems like a nice supportive shoe for hiking trails in Hawaii!

The shoe is great for rocky and unlevel areas which is what I needed. Zappos has very friendly and nice people to work with when calling.

I ordered a half size bigger than I normally wear but it is too big. I love the shoes but I need to exchange them. Of course, they currently do not have my size. I am going to wait a couple days to see if they get my size in.

I returned these. Thanks Zappos for your generous return policy. Usually I can wear Keen shoes right out of the box. Very little break in period. These shoes were hard as rocks. They were very nice looking though. My feet would not be able to take the break in period. I re-ordered the Voyageur. I'm hoping Keen hasn't changed those. My old ones were great. Overall I would give them 2 stars - not the 4 that I clicked on. It wouldn't let me unclick stars.

These shoes look and fit great until I started to walk in them. They do fit true to size. I wear an 8 and even with athletic socks on the size 8 shoe fit perfect. I just found them to feel like a brick on my foot when I would lift my foot off the ground to walk. The shoe itself is also very stiff compared to other tennis shoes. I am not sure if they are waterproof because I didn't test them on a rainy day.

I wear size 4 and it is very difficult to find shoes in size 4. Please, zappos, do not stop selling size 4s! I purchased Keen Targhee II after reading reviews that claimed it runs a half size smaller. It is smaller than a true size 5 therefore, it fits if I wear very thick socks. It's quite comfortable after walking around the house all day but can not say how it will feel on outdoor walks.

I normally wear 8.5's in Keens and ordered this in 9.5 as advised, but it was too short in the toe box, so I had to return it.

Awesomely waterproof and grippy-sole shoes, with nice room for toes. However, my mid-weight wool socks feel soaked with sweat when I wear them at work in size 6 (bare feet a size 5 and 1/2). Tried thick merino wool socks which require a 6 and 1/2 size to soak up more sweat, but then the heel slips too much. Wish these shoes wicked sweat in the sole. Wool sole insert substitution doesn't work because not enough room. Anyways, at work I take off the size 6's around mid-day for the sweat to evaporate from my socks and the inner soles of the shoe. But I have to return the 6.5's because unfortunately slipping heels doesn't work.

These shoes are clunky in appearance, making me initially think they were too big. But in actuality, the length (ordered a half size up from my usual size) was actually fine. The makers suggest sizing a half size up and I found this to be true in my case. It's just wide and not flattering. My heels were sliding out, but when I figured out how to tie the lace through the last loop on the tongue, the sliding was greatly diminished. You need to thread the laces through that last loop! The shoes are comfortable. I haven't had a chance to actually try them on a real hike, but they feel pretty sturdy. I just don't think they're attractive. But I'm going to give them a try as I've never owned Keen shoes before.

I have worn Keens for years. They always fit my wide feet and high arches! These Targhee II Keens fit well but are not as comfortable as past models. They slip on my feet unless I tie them really tight. I even bought a new pair of insoles to see if that would help with the slip and lack of cushion. I resent spending well over this much on shoes and then buying insoles too!! And in the end it didn't make much difference.

I ordered the Keen Targhee II as well as the Merrell Moab in order to have a waterproof shoe for rainy days and traveling. For the Keens: Pros: - Felt rugged enough that I believe my feet wouldn't get wet (although I did not test this out). - Wide toe box, particularly nice when wearing thick socks. - Decent styling, colors are nice. Cons: - Difficult to cinch the laces for a tight fit. - I don't have a narrow heel, but it kept slipping - unusual for me. - When wearing, it felt like the laces were constantly coming untied, when in reality they weren't. I ended up returning the Keens and going with the Merrells, for much of these reasons. I really wanted to like the Keens (as my husband loves his!), but I simply couldn't get them to fit right. Too bad.

I absolutly loved these shoes but unfortunatly they just did not work for me. I ordered the half size bigger which was correct for the length however it then made my heel slip. Even with my inserts and tied snug my heel still slipped. Boy I sure wish this would have worked for me. I loved how they looked on.

I'm writing this review to maybe help others with fit. I ordered the Black Olive color in an 8 and 8.5. The 8 was too short and the 8.5 much to long. So I ordered a second 8.5 in hopes that it was a defect but it was also too long. So I tried a different color, an 8.5 in the Magnet and they were a perfect fit. My advice is to try a different color if the first one doesn't work out. This is why I only gave this shoe four stars, because of size quality control. I just spent a week hiking and the shoes performed great. The heel slipped a little but got better with wear. I own several pairs of Keen shoes and ranging in sizes from 7.5 to 8.5 so fit is trial and error. Thanks Zappos for the free shipping.

I bought these for walking in the winter on snow covered streets and they work well for that. They give quite a bit of traction and I feel stable when walking in them. In terms of comfort, they are moderately comfortable. This is my first hiking shoe I am not sure how other shoes might compare. This shoe performed they way I expected. As mentioned by others, the toe box is quite roomy.

These shoes are extremely comfortable. This what the first time I was buying hiking shoes and I did a lot of research online. I think this is the most affordable shoe you can get for the kind of comfort and quality they provide. What I was most concerned about was the grip on steep hikes and the shoes provided good support!

I got these because of the positive reviews and because someone used them to go to Machu Picchu which is where I'll be in a few months. I was really wanted to keep them. I used them for a while around the house but unfortunately for me, my right foot was too tight. Without socks, with socks, there was no relief especially after walking alot. But they're great shoes - great traction on wet surfaces - yes, I deliberately spilled water to try this out. I have a pair of North Face which are great for uneven surfaces but not wet, even surfaces and Keen did design a good pair. I was surprised that this model of shoe was not was wide as others were. These went back to Zappos even though I wish I could keep them. I'm trying out a different pair and will see how that goes.
