My last pair of these shoes lasted for six years. I wore them non-stop. The only reason they were replaced is because they looked so bad. Nothing physically wrong with them - the sole was still great, the shoe was in one piece - no holes at all. They just looked tired. But after miles of hiking through woods, water, and rocks - I guess they should. These are the best hiking shoes that I have ever owned.

Other reviewers found this shoe/boot a size smaller than Keens usually run, but, mine were fine (in my usual size 8), and I have wide feet. Unfortunately, my heel is not as wide, and, no matter how I tied them, my heel felt like it might come right out of the shoe when I walked. I'm so sorry, because they're just what I need for winter walking.

I received the shoe the other day and have worn it around town since then. Very comfortable, as are all my Keens, with no break-in time. I usually take a 9 in a Keen, but ordered a half size up and am glad I did. Fits perfectly. The waterproof feature may contribute to a little foot sweating on warmer days...

Other reviews stating this style runs a half size small are absolutely correct in my opinion. I'm slightly disappointed in Keens new fabric tongue which these shoes have. I can feel them wrinkled on the top of my feet when the shoes are laced. That said I'm seriously considering keeping this pair. The toe box is typically Keen, nice and wide and the shoes are basically comfortable on my surgically altered sore aging feet! Zappos is always a GREAT shopping experience.

Absolutely love these shoes! Bought them for cold wet weather in Alaska and they did not disappoint. I wore them three days in a row, all day without breaking them in first and could not believe how comfortable they were. I will be using these a lot for any outdoor adventures. Make sure to order 1/2 size larger. I had to return my first pair and Zappos made it extremely easy. I received my new pair the very next day and was able to ship back the first pair for free. A+ on customer service!

I've been wearing this Keen model for probably 8 years! My husband wears the Targhee, my two children are in Keen hikers...they are just the best!

This is a great shoe. I walk 3 miles in it everyday and this is my second pair of Keen Targhee II's the other ones wore out after walking in them I figure about 3000 miles. I love the dark green color and have to say there was no break in period. They were comfortable the very first day. I usually wear a 7 1/2 but with Keen's I always wear a size 8. They're fabulous!

This is a very comfortable, supportive and great-looking shoe. I have used them in several BIG rainstorms and even on water rides in an amusement park and my feet stayed 100% dry and warm! I have moderately high arches and my feet feel great wearing these shoes. I did not have to break them in at all. I could wear them for over 12 hours from day 1 of owning them. I bought these for practical shoes for moving to Sweden and I feel completely prepared. These are worth the money!

These were bulky - they had support though but the inside was lumpy - couldn't figure out why. I took the insole out and felt inside. It was weird and they made my left foot numb that I had to take them off immediately after trying them on. It is a bummer - they look like very nice shoes!

I did a fair amount of searching for a low hiking boot and came across these. No breaking in needed. Hiked extensively in Southwest hills. Feet were comfortable, no rubbing. Toe box is wide, heel was snug, no slipping on downhill, I love these shoes. I think they look good too. I could not be happier. Thank you Keen.

These are my favorite shoes, ever. I bought these seven years ago, never having had a real pair of hiking shoes before. I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I put them on, I was in love. I have worn these shoes hard and through all kinds of terrain and activity. They are the most comfortable, durable, and kickass shoes you will ever have. Seven years later, I still wear mine every week, although it's time for a new pair. Of course, I'm getting these again.

I got the Keen Targhee II for a hiking trip in Arches/Canyonlands. I was very happy with them. Thankfully there was no "breaking in" needed (ie. sore spots); they were comfortable from the start. The traction was excellent, great for up and downhill on rock. I will say that it is true (I'd read this in other reviews) the heel tends to move. The heel area must be extra wide. This can be somewhat overcome by tying it extra tight. There are also secret things that can be done with the laces that only shoe-store people seem to understand -- wish I were clued in. But the heel thing didn't bother me or impact my comfort at all as I soon got used to it. I was also happy to be able to walk through several inches of water and still have dry feet! By the way, I usually wear an 8 but got 8 1/2 and it fit very well.

not Merrils - they develop a weird smell (it's the shoe, not my feet)

I've been wearing Targhee IIs for years now and can't imagine wearing a different shoe for daily walking. They're super comfortable and supportive. I can be on my feet all day without them hurting. I love the new greenbriar color!

Targhee II shoes are what I've worn every day for two years, mid-height for trail walking, low for home use. The first pair Zappos sent were too narrow in the toe box. I exchanged for a second pair that were fine, though still narrower than the two pairs I've almost worn out. Maybe Keen makes them narrower now, though all other aspects of fit seem the same, very comfortable and supportive.

These shoes feel like they were made for my feet! I have relatively high arches and very small, square feet and because of this I have a really hard time finding comfortable shoes. I actually bought a different pair of keens and had to return them because they were high tops and they hurt my ankles, but they were so comfortable in every other way that I had to try another pair so I got these and I LOVE them. These are quite possibly the best shoes I've ever owned. (Of course, I say this having just got them, so I hope I still love them in a few weeks!) And I think they're cute too. (I got the Java/Goat color.) I'd say the only downside is they seem to make my feet sweat. But in the shoes defense I've been drinking a lot of coffee lately and the weather just warmed up here and I normally wear very breathable running shoes. I'd like to note that I've been having a really hard time finding shoes that are for "normal" feet. I bought six pairs of shoes on Zappos and THREE of them were for "overpronation." (Basically there's a tilt to the sole of the shoe to make up for having a crooked ankle/heel.) My feet don't overpronate AT ALL, so this is a problem for me. These shoes are seriously perfect. If your feet are anything like mine, I highly recommend giving them a try. I wear a 6.5 and I ordered the 6.5 and with socks of medium thickness they fit PERFECTLY. If my feet were even a teeny-tiny bit bigger these might not fit at all. I also have pretty wide feet and I got the B, which is medium-wide, and it's juuuuust right. Sometimes with B I don't quite have enough room across the toe box but with these I do. And the arch support is great. I don't have the highest arches in the world, but my arches are high enough that most shoes don't cut it, but these felt just right from the moment I put them on. They only thing I would change, besides making them a little more breathable, would probably be making them lace a little higher, because when I walk the shoes doesn't stay with my heel. I get a slight flip-flop effect. Tying it through the loop on the tongue helps a lot, but it's still there just a little bit on my left foot which is slightly smaller than my right. This would probably go away with thicker socks, but I'm not sure I can wear thicker socks, haha. Anyway, I highly recommend these if you have high arches, wide, square feet, and straight ankles/heels.

What great support! This is my second pair. Hiked the first one to death. They are a bit stiff at first, but when broken in, they are the best. I stepped up 1/2 size for best fit.

I loved my first pair of Keen Targhee IIs so much, that when they wore out, I bought another pair. They are stylish. They don't weigh as much as other hiking style/waterpoof shoes I've tried. They work wonderfully in mud, on slick sidewalks, on uneven gravel roads, and in the grocery store. The shoe held up to year's worth of hard use.

I have a high arch and wide toe-box, and this shoe supports both. This is my second pair, I'll never buy another hiking shoe. The only negative is the lacing system comes loose often, but the comfort across all terrains outweighs negative.

I've always heard great things about Keen shoes and there's a reason! After a move to an area where I knew I'd be doing a lot of dog walking, I wanted a shoe that was supportive for walking on uneven trail surfaces, could handle puddles/rain, wasn't super heavy like my Asolo hiking boots, and were stylish enough that I could wear them out and about without feeling like a mountain woman. I read the reviews carefully before my purchase and did elect to go up 1/2 a size for toe box/width comfort. I am glad that I did. However, due to some heel slippage, it's pretty imperative that I wear thicker socks. The lacing system doesn't really do much for securing the heel. I have been walking about 10 miles a day in these and wearing them 24/7 for about a month and a half--only swapping them out for an occasional pair of heels. They are very comfortable. They're also easy to clean which is helpful as I've encountered quite a bit of mud. Note: the tread design is great for gripping terrain but I do collect rocks in it and it's a bear to get thick mud out of. Overall, I love these shoes!

These shoes felt great right out of the box! I wear them every day for ranch chores and walking the dog. The fact that they are waterproof allows me to rinse the bottoms easily without getting my feet wet. Love the color too, but I had to order a nine to wear with my socks...a half size larger than my other Keens.

Liked these but decided to get the Targhee II mid for more stability. They do run about 1/2 size too large. The best arch support of everything I tried, and I tried quite a few, but I will probably still use an orthotic insert, and the good news is that even sizing down there is still room.

These are great shoes! I've bought at least 4 pairs for me and at least that many for my husband. Hubby says they have nice support, are comfortable right out of the box and they wear like iron! A bit pricey but worth it!

Following the advice of a member of the Zappos Customer Loyalty Team, I purchased the Keen Targhee II to be worn during an upcoming trip to Israel and a hike up Mount Sinai. I have been wearing them for my daily walk in an effort to break them in. Fortunately, there is not too much breaking in to it. These shoes are so comfortable and provide the support an old soul (aged 76) like myself requires. Thank you, Zappos. With your expertise and abundantly happy staff, I am a satisfied customer.

Found these to be true to size. Have old Targhee's that ran 1/2 large - these did not. Same sizing as Keen Newport H2 sandals for me. True to width for Keens - always runs wider than most shoes.
