Style is basic boot, classic. Nothing striking. Would make a good boot for an Imperial uniform. My calves aren't wide but I can't wear these with leggings or even knee high socks, it fits tight so it's going back. Anyone with narrow calves would really like this.

Shaft height of this shoe is 16"! Not 15" as indicated in the description. Otherwise it would have been perfect. But it's too high for me.

Honestly, when I first saw these boots online, I wondered whether the heel was too chunky (too 1990s), but I took the plunge and ordered a pair. When I pulled them out of the box, I was relieved to see that this really is a petite boot with a classy/well-proportioned silhouette. Hurray! The best thing about these is you can dress them up with skirts or down with jeans, and they work well in either case. A truly middle-of-the-road, versatile boot. If you want high-quality leather, clean lines, and comfort all in one, buy these!

The leather is beautiful. It is very comfortable. I was so excited but I had to return them. My calf measure about 13 and the Passion boots say 14 1/2 but when I measured them the calf size was closer to 15 1/2 and at the top part 16 inches. I hope they make this boot next year with a smaller calf because they are so simple and classic boot. I wear a size 11 but I have nice legs, not big fat legs. Just because you wear an eleven doesn't mean you have heavy calf. I ended up buying the last pair out there style Sonya in Black. The calf fits me much better. They are a little shorter than passion and since I am tall, 5' 9", I could of use the extra height as the Passion. But I had to compromise the height of the boot for the correct calf size. I really wanted Brown but they did not have them.

Not quite right - Very comfy boot but they scrunch down instead of staying up on my calves (and they are snug at the calf).

The leather is very stiff and digs into my leg along the zipper. While they might wear in, I am afraid to take a chance.

NOT A WW!!!! Lies! these boots are beautiful. They are NOT wide. I have a ballerina bunion that makes my foot wide across the metatarsals. That and a high arch makes boots hard to find. I had a pair of La Canadiennes before, and they fit well and lasted ten years, so it seemed worth the splurge, but alas, they are too narrow and I'm returning then. Le sigh.

These boots fit well and were very comfortable, but I just didn't find them very attractive in person, especially for the price.

These boots are nice for the right fit. I was surprised that the 9.5 wide was really too big for me and the shaft was too wide. I could have worn a regular 9 even though I have wide feet. La Canadienne usually run small, but this style is big.

+ Style is nice enough, lining is soft and warm, tread is great but still subtle - Even with my extremely flat feet, these shoes had absolutely no arch support. I tried putting insoles in - they just made the heel a little comfier but still did not provide sufficient support (the side of the shoe by the insole is softish, so even with the liners there was not enough support to the middle of the foot.) I got the impression these would kill my feet if I walked around all day. Oddly, my right pinky toe also rubbed the edge a bit, which feels like it would make blisters there (my feet are moderately narrow). And the left boot came with 2 large scuff marks. For over $500, all of this was a no-go. I returned them.

I wear a 7 1/2 - 8 M in a running shoe. I tried to order this boot accordingly - and it was way too large. Too wide. Too big period. Even with socks. Not enough arch support. And the circumference was much wider even over jeans than I had hoped for. I am still not certain what size to order in LaCanadienne to get a decent fit.

Footbed, arch, width very comfortable. Beautiful leather. Shaft was much more snug fitting than other boots of this brand. This would have been my 4th pair:(

I really wanted to love these boots. They're lightweight, have a great design that will look good for years (and should considering the investment) but my calves are just too big. I have muscular calves and unfortunately these boots cut off all blood circulation once zipped. If only La Canadienne could make this boot for an extended calf size it would be perfect.

These boots had incredibly positive reviews and based on that, I had high expectations. They're very nice-looking, but not as comfortable as I hoped. My feet are on the wide side of normal; wide sizes are generally too big, even when the "regular" size of a particular shoe is a bit narrow. Based on all the positive Zappos feedback, I thought these would be good. They're not the worst I've had, but far from great. When I walk any further than about a block, my small toes start to hurt, as they're being pinched. They're comfortable enough for just sitting around. I haven't walked further in them than a few blocks out to lunch; I'd say if I did, I'd be in real pain. Also, the soles aren't as thick as I'd like. E.g., if you walk over some bumps or gravel, you can feel it. And while they're described as having "gel" insoles, those are very thin. In addition, as others have described, you don't want to buy these boots if you have wide calves. Mine are on the thin side, and these boots are just right with hose and a skirt. I think they'd be a bit on the snug side with pants tucked in. Having said all that, if your feet are on the narrow side, and you're not looking for soles with a great deal of protection, these are definitely a nice-looking boot. The leather is soft and appealing. Still, comfort is highly important to me, so I'm glad I got these on sale, or else I'd be feeling ripped off!

Gorgeous, but within four months, the leather is separating from the base. Certainly frustrating given the price point.

Attractive boot and well constructed. Unfortunately it felt more like a B width than a Wide.

I have to agree with other reviewers, the leather in the brown boot looks/feels lighter and less yummy than I would expect. My hope was that they would break in with a nice worn look in some sort of lovely, keep-for-10-years way. But so far they haven't...I've been wearing them for about a month and I'm finding myself wishing the leather were thicker, and maybe less glossy. On the other hand, they are comfortable right out of the box (thin leather, nice sole construction, well balanced). The fit is about a 1/2 size too big...I always wear an 8 1/2, never a 9 and only occasionally an 8. I bought the wide boot and it feels more like a 9. I have a squarish foot (wide through the ball of the foot) with a high arch. The arch support is inadequate, and I have been experimenting with insoles, but I have this trouble with almost all shoes. I considered sending these back for an 8 wide, or an 8 1/2 regular width because the boot felt a little sloppy, but at the time Zappos was out of stock and it looked like they might not get any more in this season, so I kept them. (They did wind up getting more in.) I have one more complaint, which is the left boot feels a little crooked on the heel, like my heel is sitting off to the side a bit...just enough to be noticeable...bit. From a small company with a handmade product it's possible...and I may send them back. Overall I have to say, spending this much on a pair of shoes is not something I take lightly or do regularly. For the money, I wanted to have none of these complaints, and to absolutely love them. I wanted them to be like a leather bag that just gets better and better the more you thrash it. Instead, I think they're going to wear pretty fast, and they look a little plain, like something I could have gotten for much, much less. I'm almost impressed, and they're fine, but for the money wanted to be in love.

The calves on this boot were too big for me, but I have really narrow calves. The boot itself looked ok, but it wasn\\\'t anything that I loved. In person it just wasn\\\'t as awesome as I thought it would be.

Narrower in calf than description indicates - This boot is fairly nice looking and felt comfortable, but the calf was too narrow for me to get zipped up. I did measure before ordering, and my calf circumference is just below the circumference indicated and the description. Unfortunately, the pair I received did not even come close to fitting, even with the elastic gore. Not sure if there is variation from pair to pair, but I'd suggest you measure, and allow at least an inch or maybe two between your calf circumference and the description.

I wanted to love these boots and hoped that a wide would fit my calves. The 9 was too big but the calf fit. So, returned for 8.5 which fit great in the foot but could not zip up. Not sure why La Canadienne would shrink the calf so much going down a half size. Too bad, these are beautiful, well made boots but they are going back.

These fit baggy in the calf and really baggy in the ankles. Also, the zipper tape chafes around the inner ankle.

These boots felt comfortable at first but ended up not being 100% comfortable upon actual several day use (I walk to work, 30-40 minutes). What's worse, the heel started falling apart after just one week! Luckily, Zappos was very responsive and refunded them immediately. As for La Canadinenne, it is not clear to me how $400 boots can start falling apart so fast.

These would be the best boots in the world, but they have a major design flaw that others have mentioned, and which were a deal breaker for me. They go in and make a lump around the ankles new out of the box, which makes them unattractive. I have seen this happen with older well worn boots, but never with new ones. For a company with such a great reputation, this is a major design flaw. It's a shame, too because these boots have a lot going for them. They are a good height, not too tall like many of the other boots. I am 5'1" and shortest from knee to ankle, and these were a perfect height. They are super comfy and not too loose around the calves. I ended up choosing the Paul Green Odessa because of this. Had the line been clean I would have kept these instead

This is a beautiful boot, however, there is a nail tip under the heel that can be felt when worn. I will be returning and requesting a replacement pair.
