This is a really great boot, but in attempting to get the sizing right, I think I read every review -- whew -- and I still got it wrong. I ordered the wide because after 3 kids, including a set of twins, my feet are not the narrow ones I used to have. Not quite a wide, but some regular widths are too tight on me now. I also ordered the size I wear for running shoes (1/2 size up). The wides felt way too big, especially around the ankles, where they gapped a lot and not in a good way. It was probably not such a good idea to order a half size up and a wide boot. It was a very roomy fit. And when I walked up my carpeted stairs, I felt something a little painful, like the excess leather from the wide width catch at the back of my heel, something I've never felt before. I am planning on ordering the regular width and hope that my running shoe size will be okay. The boots seem true to size but I imagine that I will be wearing heavier socks in the winter and possibly an insert to add some arch support (which seemed okay but not great and I have high arches). I did not think that the leather looked cheap, and it is a lightweight, incredibly comfortable fit. I so want these to fit because they seem extremely versatile, classic and well made.

I sent for and tried out quite a number of boots before settling on this pair of La Canadienne Passion. I had read a lot of the reviews for different La Canadienne boots and the majority seemed to indicate that they were comfortable, which was my main requirement. I have to agree. These are a really nice looking pair of leather boots and they are the most comfortable pair of boots that I have ever owned. I can wear them all day and not have any foot pain when I take them off. I love that they are waterproof. I will definitely look at this brand when I next need a pair of boots.

Best tall boots ever! I have been on a quest for comfortable and elegant tall leather boots. I require simplicity, a trim-fitting ankle area, supple elegant leather, and a low comfortable heel. I got these yesterday in brown and was able to wear them all day today, a first! I have returned at least four other boots due to discomfort. These are fantastic. Now I will try them in black.

Classic. This is a perfect riding boot, but one which adapts to a lot of different clothing styles. I ordered the Zahra boot at the same time, intending to keep only one, but I loved them both and now have two pairs of black boots, each of which have their own best uses.

La Canadienne Passion - Gorgeous boots. Very thick, soft leather. They fit a little big in the calf and are a little slouchy around the ankle but otherwise perfect! Very stable to walk in and very warm. Love them!

Best boot ever! The most comfortable boot I have ever worn. Perfect fit, perfect shank height. Looks great. I get many compliments on them every time I wear them. Zappos customer service is the best, too!

Fits like a glove - I just returned home after buying these boots. I could have walked right out of the store with them on. The fit is perfect: comfortable in every way, dressy and casual at the same time, and warm without being overwhelmingly so. I can’t wait to wear them. I have been wearing a boot I bought in Florence, Italy almost 25 years ago! It is still a beautiful boot, but it was time to retire them. I just found a perfect replacement. Wish I could afford to buy a couple of others. Maybe next year. Thanks for a quality boot I think my feet will enjoy for several years!

Almost the perfect boot - This is the most perfectly classic boot I've found. The only thing that kept me from buying it is the cut at the very top of the boot. The top is an angle cut: slightly higher on the outside of the boot. This part made the boot stick out too much at top, which wasn't the look I wanted. To me, it looked funny with skinny jeans tucked into them. Otherwise, the boot is stylish, well-made, and very comfortable.

Great boot! Super comfortable, stylish classic boot. The fit is amazing and the color goes with everything. If you are looking for a serious cold weather boot for city that you can walk in for hours and hours, this is it. It would not work for someone with a large calf, however. The inside has some kind of memory foam, but the layer is so thin, it does not provide a lot of arch support. If you need an orthotic consider the Wide.

Elegant and comfortable - Had many compliments on this sporty boot and was able to wear it in comfort all day the first day of use.

I love these boots! At first I was disappointed, and almost sent them back, because I have thinner calves, and they sort of bulge out at the back, but I showed them to my very trendy 25 year old daughter and she liked them a lot, and told me to keep them. I'm glad she did, because they are extremely comfortable! I am a teacher and I walk and stand all day, so comfort is essential, and living in the Pacific Northwest, I need boots that can stand the rain and snow. These boots do it all, and they look great too!

These boots are perfect - I love them. They are the perfect height-just below the knee. They are waterproof (for this winter at least). They have a round toe. They come in wide sizes and don't cause pain for my bunions. They have a simple look-no fussy buckles or straps. The heel is nice and low, but not flat. They are slim fitting in the calf. They are definitely NOT for those with wide calves. But if you have slim or medium calves they look great. I hate boots that are too loose in the calves-gives you that puss n boots look. These are worth the money.

Pleased in Ohio - Classic leather boot and extremely comfortable. I wore them for the first time all day shopping downtown Chicago (w/jeans) and then to dinner (w/dressy skinny pants). My feet felt great! I have them in brown and received several compliments. Perfect for those with smaller calves. A definite "must have" for Midwest winters when you prefer not to look like Nanook of the North yet desire fashionable, warm, dry feet.

GREAT BOOTS! Super comfortable, easy to put on and take off, light weight, classically attractive.

Comfort and Style - I LOVE these boots! I have a bad back and thought I could never wear boots again, but I found these and they are soooo comfortable and look great that I wear them with everything...and look Great! Only one word is needed to describe these boots: Perfect! Definitely a worthy investment.

Sleek waterproof boot! This is perfect for NYC, especially since it has been raining a lot. It keeps my feet dry, and I don't have to worry about ruining them. They are extremely comfortable to walk in, and I've been able to trudge around the city all day without any issues. The zipper area right above my ankles was bruising my legs when I first put it on, but it seems to have adjusted itself and isn't an issue now. The only concern I have is I recall seeing something in small print that said "Waterproof up to 6 months" which worries me but I'll deal with it when my toes start feeling damp. In terms of look, it is a basic brown knee-high leather boot. Versatile, looks good with anything, really.

Love these boots! Have been a fan of La Canadienne for a few years and past pairs of boots lasted about three New York City winters of constant wear and survived winters in Afghanistan and Russia. These are waterproof, tall, round toed (which I prefer) and I wore them right out of the box to a cocktail party. Looks sexy without the silliness of impractical heels that get caught in subway grates and pointy toes that squish. Very nice leather and waterproof. Expensive but with care will last you a few seasons.

Amazingly comfy boots! I test drove them during a long day of shopping with my sister and was shocked that they didn't rub me the wrong way in any respect. The brown is a warm, chocolate-y color and the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 for look is b/c I personally prefer a squared toe...but otherwise, these are a big hit...and if they're waterproof, too, (haven't worn them in rain/snow yet) then they're worth the investment!

These very good looking boots unfortunately came with a damaged right zipper. It appears many items are returned and then reshipped without checking for damages other than wear. I don’t know if it’s the fact that the leather is considered weather repellent, but it does not have the usual sheen that I associate with black leather Canadian boots.

Does not feel like WW width. Beautiful boot though!

The leather is excellent. The calf circumference is just right with the WW foot, but the foot length feels about a half-size too long. I ordered my regular size of 8.5/WW but maybe an 8/WW would have fit better. They do allow room for socks. I am keeping the boots, but I do feel they are a bit over-priced for having such a plain look to them.

Very nice pair of boots, but they sort of sag a bit around the calf. The material is really soft so not as upright/stiff as I had hoped. For the very expensive price, not worth keeping for what I'm looking for.

These boots are gorgeous - exactly what I had been looking for: reliable brand, black suede, comfortable and warm. The medium sized heel made it both stylish and practical since I do a lot of walking in Manhattan. They were originally too pricey for me so I was thrilled when they went on sale - still close to $400 with tax, but based on what I know of Canadienne, I planned on getting a few good years out of them. I had to return them because the calf circumference was too big. It measures 14 1/2". My physical therapist tells me I have average sized calves which is between 13" and 14". Bottom line - measure your calf before purchasing!

I hesitated before shelling out for these expensive boots but having worn them once, I'm pretty sure I'll be glad I bought them. The waterproofing is a definite plus for Wisconsin winters. I have hard-to-fit feet so I experimented with a half-orthotic for more heel cushioning and that seems to work. The fit is quite comfortable right out of the box. I sized up 1/2 since I plan to wear socks, not tights, with these boots. I got the same size I use for athletic shoes. I am 5'6" and they don't quite come up to the bottom of my knees; wish they were about an inch taller.
