I really wanted these to work for me!! For over 10 years I have worn Birkenstock sandals in the summer and Dansko clogs in the winter. I live in a city and I do a lot of walking and it is starting to catch up with me - plantar fasciitis and bunions. My feet are much happier in Birks in the summer - Danskos are starting to be too stiff for me. So, I have set out to find a new winter shoe, and I am hoping it will be a Birkenstock! I tried two sizes of the Birkenstock London and unfortunately they are just a tad narrow for my problem foot. I wear a 37 in Birkenstock sandals, so I tried both 38 and 37. 38 was too definitely too big for me. I also found this style of shoe a bit difficult to slip on and off and I don't think I have the patience for that. I do wonder if all this would be alleviated after the breaking-in period, but I don't want to risk it. I am leaning toward Birkenstock Boston Super Grip, they don't feel like they are going to aggravate my bunions and are super easy to slip on and off.

Love these in the suede version. The oiled leather was too stiff for me. I hope they make these in black and mocha suede soon.

These shoes are super cute and comfortable. After reading other reviews I went up a size to a 39 narrow and they fit perfectly. I normally wear a 38 narrow in open toed birks, but they were too short in this style. They will not disappoint!

My flat feet live these! I was having some hip and back pain. I read that when you have flat feet this pain can be caused by improper alignment. These shoes have corrected my problem. I have already purchased another pair in Hunter black with the soft footbed. They do take time to break in but don’t let that dissuade you from buying them. Your feet will thank you.

I have worn this exact style shoe for many years, ordered the exact size I have always worn - however could not get my foot in the shoe. I am returning and ordering one size larger and hoping that they will fit. Birkenstock London is my favorite shoe, but I was surprised by the sizing difference.

Unfortunately, Birkenstock is making their Regular Width shoes more narrow and they don't fit a truly wide width with thick instep the way they did in the past. Too bad because Birkenstock was one of the few shoe manufacturers which made shoes wide enough for my feet. Some folks have extra wide feet because we were born with them, not because we are overweight. We get left out 95% of the time by shoe manufacturers.

Love Love Love these shoes. They are soo comfortable. I have several pair of Birkenstocks, including these in another color too. They are my go to when my feet are aching. So comfortable and look good too. I have had these for over a year and they are still good as new! A++

Great... still need to break in... but shoes and Zappo service is terrific.

The fit was challenging. I wear a 39 narrow in sandals but had to go with a 39 regular in closed toe Londons! My second toe is longer than my big toe and it was hitting the end of the 39narrow and the 40 narrow shoe was too big and sloppy on my foot. Going to a regular width in the 39 gave me a little extra toe room. Although the shoe is a bit wide, I can live with it for a little extra toe space.

I have on 7.11.18 ordered 2 pairs of Birkenstock shoes and as per today, I am still waiting to get them delivered. The order was made online. As per the information given by customer service, my two orders were attempted to be unsuccessfully delivered on 3 different occasions. No delivery ticket was left to inform me about the delivery! When I called their customer service they were not sure where the items are. It will soon be a month since I made a purchase and I have not received my order nor a refund. Yes, Birkenstock product are highly rated for their quality, however, when it comes to delivering a great customer service, Birkenstock is failing on the entire front! I won't be ordering from them in the future.

I ordered the London in this lovely brown in a 40 narrow, it felt great on and I loved the look. So why am I returning it? Perhaps it is just me, but I can't buckle the shoe after I get it on. The tongue is very stiff and i simply cannot get it through the buckle. I wish it had a decorative buckle and velcro underneath, needless to say I am disappointed as I really wanted it.

Handsome and comfortable. Black is actually like a slate blue, very dark. I'm new to Birkenstocks. Glad I switched because the arch support is fantastic, but I hope the sole holds up to regular use.

Disappointed that Birk is making these in Portugal instead of ze Germany now. Quality still very high though. I’ve had the soft footbed version - way more comfortable to me. Unfortunately those only come in black and light brown. I like dark brown but not the standard footbed. If you are looking for excellent arch support and a shoe that puts your feet in ecstasy after a long day, or something that really helps with plantar fasciitis, any Birkenstock is your shoe!

I live in the Northeast. I recently purchased the London because the cork is protected with leather. I will be able to wear this shoe in all types of fall and winter weather wet weather conditions. I had to purchase a size larger than the size I wear for the clogs. I noticed my heel does rub against the back of both shoe, hopefully with wear the back will soften up to eliminate that issue. I use a shoe horn to put the shoe on without unbuckling the shoe. I prefer the traditional footbed over the soft foot bed.I wish the shoe was more stylish. Overall, I am very happy with the London.

This is my 2nd pair of Londons (I wanted black), and the 10th pair of Birks in my closet. The oiled leather is fairly thick, so does take some breaking-in (as many others have mentioned). They're initially as stiff in the upper as the footbed. Wear them for a few hours each day, it might take a week or two to get them to "give." I use a shoehorn to slide my buckled Londons on, otherwise over time you can get some unsightly creases in the heel area. By using a shoehorn, my first pair look brand new (even though they're over five years old). I use leather soap on all my Birks, keeps them clean, supple.

I loved these shoes and they would have worked perfectly if I had not broken my ankle and have screws along the seam line. I have several of this brand shoes and love the slipons now. I had to return these shoes and the customer service people were great. I printed off the shipping label and sealed up the box. UPS came the next day and picked them up. I was credited back for the cost in two days. Thank you! Will continue to use your site to shop for shoes.

You either love 'em or your hate 'em, style-wise. I have some Birk sandals that I like (but not as much as I love my Chacos), but these were just wrong for my feet! The arch was in the wrong place for me, so that was that!

Very comfortable to wear all day but need to be softened by wearing several 2hour periods.

I have two other pairs of London shoes in size 40 regular and the fit and feel great! I could barely get my foot into this shoe with a very thin sock on. These shoes DO NOT have toe bars and both of my other pairs do. There is something just not right about this pair of Londons. Very sad to be sending them back.

It's winter in Montana and I needed something besides sandals (and I admit I was starting to wear socks with my sandals so my toes wouldn't get cold.). I wanted shoes I could wear around the house, to the mailbox, in the shop, taking the dog for a walk, and were easy to get on and off. I love Birks and I love these. I expect I will be wearing them a long time. I won't be posting pictures because I've already beat them up quite a bit in the 2 weeks I've had them, but that's what I bought them for. I'm watching for the Birkenstock Montana shoe to come back in a narrow and I will be getting those as my "going to town" shoe.
