This is my third pair of Targhee Mids. I have one pair for summer hiking (they are AWESOME) and another for daily wear (I work in academia) that I recently wore out after about 5 years. Of course I bought another pair to replace them! Comfortable out of the box, these waterproof boots are perfect for New England's wet weather. I can't say enough about how amazing these boots are.

These are great shoes: supportive, well-built, waterproof, and good-looking. I have had these for about a month and have taken them on several long hikes, including in the rain. During a hike, I attempted a jump across a stream but missed and dunked my foot in the water. The boots were dry and I stayed warm the entire hike. I do use a more supportive insole with as I the Keen insoles are not quite enough for my high arches. These are the fourth pair of Keens I own, I am very happy with them and plan to buy more in the future!

These shoes rock! Keep my feet warm and dry, even in the pouring rain! They are also great in the snow...keeping your feet warm and dry without the bulk. Comfortable from day 1!

I work at a camp, so I am outside all day every day. These shoes are very comfortable and supportive right out of the box. I did order a half size larger after reading other reviews, and they fit perfectly (although I wear an 8.5 in Merrells and a 9.5 in this shoe). The only issue I've had so far is that some water seems to be leaking in through the toe. My feet stay dry, but if I reach into the shoe I can feel that right up against the toe is wet. Other than the waterproofing issue I wholeheartedly recommend these shoes.

These boots are awesome. I bought the low cut style and liked them so much, I purchased the mid height. Right out of the box, these boots felt like I had worn them for months.

Not sure what I can add to the 300+ reviews before me, but I can say that I love these boots! This is my second pair. I bought these because I was worried that my older pair would wear out and that I wouldn't be able to replace them with a similar pair.
Whats so great about these? Comfortable as heck, right out of the box. I wore them around one day, just in case there was a problem, and there were none. Took them on a strenuous but short hike the next day, and they performed beautifully. My six year old pair is still going strong; they just got me up and down Mount Monadnock in somewhat slippery conditions, so if you're concerned about them losing their grippiness, no worries there! I just wish they made a plain black pair!

These are great boots; they're very comfortable, right out of the box! The toe box is big with plenty of wiggle room. Other reviews said the shoes ran small, so I ordered 1/2 size larger. I'm not sure if this was necessary. The bottom line is these are great boots!

Boots were comfortable right out of the box, and I love the roomy space for the toes. Very lightweight, and perfect for the fall weather in the North East. My 3 year old daughter wants a matching pair!!

I would highly recommend these shoes. They are very comfortable. I usually wear a size 6-6.5, but ordered a size 7 and they fit perfectly.

I waited for my review until I hiked enough miles to test these Keen Targhee II mid boots. It's true there is no break-in period needed and that's because these boots are not a stiff backpack style boot, which offers serious ankle support. They are softer and less stiff from the start and that works for me, a hiker carrying only a day pack. Although I do often hike in very rocky areas, and feel there is good ankle protection, but not a lot of firm support from twisting. I usually wear a 9 or 9 1/2 wide in street shoes, and ended up keeping the size 10. Perfect fit with plenty of toe room and width for both a liner and wool hiking sock. On my most recent hike up Mt Marcy NY through lots of mud and very wet areas my feet remained dry. I really like the laces and how they are ridged causing the bow to stick without even having to double knot it. Also I like the topmost lace hook since it's made to lock the lace in place. The only negative is that the insole is not terribly cushioned. Since I have an issue with pain on the bottom of one foot after a couple of miles, I decided to replace the insole with Spenco Total Support insoles before the last big hike, and I was glad I did. I had no foot pain at all on the 15 mile hike. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend these if you need a good day hiking boot with plenty of toe room.

These are more comfortable than my sneakers. And when hiking over slippery rocks, they did a great job keeping me from falling. Love the color, too. I usually wear 7.5 in ladies but had to go up a full size to 8.5. There's room enough to put a cushy Dr. Scholl's gel insert with arch support and room enough to move my toes a little, yet the fit around the heel and ankle is snug enough for support. As long as they keep making these, my husband and I will never buy another boot.

No break in period required. Comfortable from day one. Hiked up mountain trails - some covered with snow.

Love these boots. Lightweight and sturdy; however, I usually wear a 7 1/2 and these were short and I ordered the 8. I might have been better off with the 8 1/2. Still love them.

Awesome boots! I use them mainly for riding my motorcycle but I can wear them anywhere and they are comfortable. Love them! In the past using motorcycle boots, it was always a chore to hike around when we stopped to enjoy the scenery. Now I can climb or hike anywhere in comfort.

Great waterproof hiking boots. They're pretty stiff and rub against my ankles, but I'm hoping it will soften the more I wear them. Wide enough for my wide feet, and has good arch support which I need!

I love these boots. They look great, are comfortable, and lightweight. I bought half a size larger than shoe size as recommended by other reviewers and am glad I did. The reviews really helped me decide to buy these boots.

Tried this boot along with the Keen Voyageur Mid and the Merrell Cham Arc 2 Mid. The Keen boots were great looking but a little large in the toe box and stiff around the ankles. Also, the foot bed seemed hard. I went with the Merrell. For me, it fit perfectly and was cushioned in all the right places. Also, had to order 1/2 size up for all 3 boots. The Keen boots are well-rated so it probably depends on the fit for your foot and individual preferences.

On my second pair of these shoes and find them to be so-so comfortable, durable, sturdy, yet not binding. I highly recommend these Keen shoes.

These shoes were comfortable and ready to go right out of the box. I have foot issues and was ecstatic to find a good, supportive shoe without complicated lacing options. I would have preferred a metal speed lace, the plastic one is not speedy, but does hold the lace should it untie. I use these for barn work and so far they are holding up to the task and still look and feel good. It's been really hot and humid. I recommend an odor canceling insole for summer use if you live where it's humid. Your friends will compliment these cool-looking shoes.

A good part of my job is hiking the trails. I had purchased Keen Sandals before for kayaking and decided to give their hiking boots a try. They were amazing and comfortable from the minute I stepped into them. I wear them daily and have not one complaint.

These boots were great! I barely had time to wear them around the house before setting off on our vacation and yet, they fit like I had always had them. I'm 6 months pregnant and I even had less back pain while hiking in these boots! I ordered a size up (as recommended) and was happy with my purchase.

Following the other reviews, I bought this a half size up from what I usually wear. I was a bit nervous about this, because at first the shoes felt too big. But I wore them with hiking socks, and after a day of hiking my feet swelled a little bit, they were perfect and I knew I picked the right size and the right size. So order at least half a size up.

After finally figuring out that I have to go up from my normal size 9 to a 10.5 in these in order to not have my toes hits, I pulled my new pair out of the box and went hiking on a slippery hilly trail. The traction was fabulous. I couldn't believe how stable I was on some super slippery hills that had my hubby grabbing for trees. I have a wide forefoot and a narrow heel and these fit me great. I like the mid rise as it keeps my ankles super steady. They look like they'd be heavy to wear but they are amazingly light. Definitely my new fave heavy duty hiking shoe.

Good looking hiking boot. Felt sturdy wearing it around the house. However, it was too narrow for my foot so I'm sending it back. Keen is usually very high quality - I've had a pair of Keens before - so I'm disappointed these didn't work out.

I bought these shoes in May '09, and wear them frequently for walking/hiking on rough terrain. I expect these to last a third summer season - they are still very water resistant (no leaks around the toes or sides), they're a little beat up but take it like a pro. I've never owned a more comfortable hiking shoe, even after several miles I never got blisters. I have a fairly narrow foot with a high arch and like hiking with thin socks, so my 6.5 was true to size for me. Since buying these, I keep buying more Keens.
