Great looking shoe, but not practical for tennis play - The shoe's comfortable and looks great. But the sole doesn't have a lot of tack and on some surfaces feels very slick. You may be able to play tennis in these, but I wouldn't recommend it. Overall, a very nice casual shoe.

Awesome! You can’t go wrong with these. Look good, feel good. Light weight. They do get dirty easily, but hey, they are white. I work on my feet all day. I also have Dansko, Birkenstock. I wear the Rod Lavers 99% of the time they are so comfortable. Also I’ve had plantar fasciitis and it has gone away since I got these shoes (go figure?). I put some arch inserts in them too.

Nice shoes... I purchased these for my 15 year old son. He was very pleased with them and says there very comfortable.

My Second Pair of Rod Lavers! This is my second pair of Rod Lavers. They are light and quite breathable for spring/summer shoes.

Finally Got 'Em - I have loved this style from afar since I was a little kid. Somehow the kid still in me rebelled against my now adult self and I finally bought these shoes and I am loving them! Practically speaking, a lightweight, white and flat soled tennis shoe does not fit in my life of gardening, working outside every day and having to wear orthotics all the time. However, I decided I only have one life and I had to have them. Surprisingly, they are so much more comfortable than I thought they'd be! Indeed they are not very supportive, but the lightweight foam sole is pretty cushiony and I don't stress out the bunions I'm always trying to cradle with orthotics. The sole is a bit stiff and I'm still breaking them in. They're slippery like others have said. But the style is what it's all about with this shoe.

Perfect shoe - Love this shoe. I have them in 4 colors now. I am a pretty true women's 7 and I ordered a 4.5 and they fit great.

Great comfort without all the bells and whistles - I love these sneakers. They are like what I used to wear. It's so hard to find this type of thing now. Comfy, simple, basic white that looks great with everything. So many sneakers have too much now - and so many colors I get dizzy. If you're looking for something to just walk in, play tennis, go shopping – whatever. These are great! If you want to run a marathon - THEN go get the fancy jogging sneaks!

Great shoe - I would recommend buying a half size larger than you think you need. Mine squeeze my toes just enough to make it slightly uncomfortable. If I had gotten a 9 instead of an 8.5 I doubt I'd have this problem. Otherwise they're great. And so good looking!

Total customer satisfaction - My mom picked these out for me. I liked the way they looked in the picture. She said they would be cooler in the summer too because of their construction. She was right. I love my sneakers. They look great with shorts. (We bought socks that fit below the ankle.)

Awesome shoe, awesome service - I ordered a pair on Friday afternoon and they arrived on Monday afternoon at no additional shipping charge. The shoes look really cool and are very comfortable. Order a size or half-size up, though, as they do run a big small. For the price, these are a bargain.

Classic looks but very uncomfortable - These shoes look great just like they always did but I don't remember them being so uncomfortable. After wearing them for about an hour my feet start to burn. Honestly, I can't wear these for any great length of time. Oh well, maybe they just need a good long break-in period.

Classic cool look, slick sole - I really like the classic look and style of the shoe, the only down side is the sole of the shoe, I feel like I am walking on slick plastic instead of rubber with some traction. Let's face it I bought them for the retro look and occasional wear, not everyday, so they meet the need.

Rod Laver is an awesome shoe - This shoe, like every other Adidas I have… from the classic shelltoes to the Nastases are some of the most comfortable & easy to clean shoes out there. You can actually just put some fresh new white laces on & give them a wipe down & they look brand new. I wear all kinds of Adidas throughout spring, summer & fall. I buy a couple of pairs of each color every season from Zappos & I have never had any issues. Shipping is always quick & the product is always in perfect condition when it arrives. Zappos is awesome with a sick level of customer service.

Surprisingly comfortable - I love the look. Thought I was going to only be able to wear for short periods of time as I have plantar fasciitis. But they feel great and I can wear them all day.

Hard to keep clean! These shoes are quite comfortable. I have no qualms there. However, they have proven to be very hard to keep clean. The laces become blackened by the metal eyelets and the mesh fabric accumulates dirt and grime very easily. In addition, the sole is comprised of a more lightweight foam rubber than is traditionally used in athletic shoes. As a result the sole will tear up easily. These shoes are only for casual wear and not for actual competitive tennis!

Good shoes and great service - I haven’t worn sneakers in a while and decided to by some Lavers. Nice, comfortable, light shoe. I had to return the 8.5 and get a 9. Seriously, order a half size up. The Zappos staff was great and the shipping was very fast.

These are (as everyone else attests) an awesome trainer. I was pretty surprised how comfy they were as I'd tried on a pair of my mates a few years ago and they felt horrible. The worst part though is that the nylon mesh fabric has become soaked with disco fudge and they just look really patchy and dirty.

Great shoes, but not for tennis - I bought these shoes because I wanted a comfortable pair of shoes that I could wear everyday, and occasionally use on the tennis court. They are really comfortable and feel great, however they are most definitely not tennis shoes. I used them once on the court and already wore through the green coloring on the front and I am kind of worried that a few more tennis matches might put a hole in them. If you are thinking about buying these with tennis in mind especially frequent use on the court look somewhere else. If you are buying them for style and comfort then they are great.

Great shoe!!! When the summer comes around nothing like a canvas shoe. Thicker sole provides more comfort that other more trendy brands and they can be washed. My Dad wore these when was young and they are still around. Nuff said!!

Uncomfortable, cheap materials - I have never owned a pair of Adidas shoes before. I have heard good things, so I thought I would give them a shot. The Rod Lavers were uncomfortable and I thought the materials used were sub-par. I broke my ankle and had to have surgery a couple years ago, so I have been wearing really supportive New Balances ever since. I experience no pain in my ankle and haven't for some time. However, after walking around in these shoes for 10-15 minutes, my ankle started to hurt. I went ahead and exchanged them, decided to give Adidas another shot and go with the Superstar IIs. That is a nice shoe... comfy and the materials are what I would have expected. More stylish than the Lavers, too, in my opinion.

Amazing, after all these years - Bought my first pair 30 years ago. I have been buying them, on and off since then. They never wear out. I still get compliments on them. They stay white and bright for a long time. They do every thing very well, probably the best athletic shoe ever made...

Nothing unexpected - Shoes took a little while to break in, now they are comfortable. I wouldn’t play too many 5 setters at Roland Garros in these guys, but they are perfect alternatives to Purcells. Zappos is amazing and I will do all that I can to buy from them in the future.
