I normally wear a 9 1/2 wide but decided to get these in a 10 regular because I loved the tooled effect on the leather. I took these out of the box and wore them to the state fair and walked around for hours. My legs were sore from all the walking but my feet felt fine! You want to have them a little bigger than you'd normally wear so you can wear them with socks and they have that give on the back of your heel. I will be ordering the knitted looking ones, someone save me a 41!

If you like clogs, the premium choice is a Dansko. This said, the quality of construction on these shoes has slipped in this version of the model. I own four pairs of this model in various vintages so it is easy to compare. The most visible difference is that the leather is attached to the mid-sole with staples that are completely visible. In previous years those staples were protected with a covering and waterproof 'welt' or seam. The second major change is that treaded part of the sole used to be made of a very durable synthetic rubber which was bonded into the sole. Now this treaded part is simply the other skin of the cast foam mid-sole and is no where near so durable. This is still the best clog you can buy, but this version of the Dansko Professional is now built like a knock off of the original. Perhaps if enough people comment on the changes, Dankso will bring back the superb shoes which they used to make.

Overall, if you're looking for excellent arch support and if you need to stand on your feet for several hours, Dansko shoes are the way to go, hands down. From January 2012 to May 2012, I wore my Dansko Professional shoes practically every day for work, where I stood on my feet for 5-6 hours a day. These shoes are also wonderful for long shopping trips! However, even though the shoes have given me great support for my feet, I do have some gripes about them. First, the sizing of these shoes are inconsistent. I purchased 2 Dansko professional shoes -- one in black cabrio leather and one in cordovan cabrio leather -- in a size 37 B (medium). (I'm usually a size 7 medium in women's shoes.) The black pair are about 1/2 inch too big and the cordovan pair are tight. My aunt, who usually wears a size 7.5 B (medium), bought a size 38, and she says that her Dansko Professionals fit nicely. So, her pair was true-to-size and both of mine were off? I just don't know what to think about the sizes. Second, these Danskos do not have padding -- at all. So if you're looking for a cushy shoe, this is not it. Third, if you're not used to a high-arch shoe, this shoe does take getting used to. I have flatter feet, so I feel minor discomfort in the arches of my feet when I wear the shoes. However, the discomfort does not last for long. Despite my issues with these shoes, the shoes are still wonderful for standing on your feet for extended periods of time. That's why I gave these shoes 4 stars. These shoes are definitely worth a try!

The shoe is beautiful but there's a problem with the fit. The band across the top is VERY tight. I've been trying to break them in for about a month and they still haven't given at all. I've been to two Dansko merchants locally and a shoe repair shop and no one will attempt to stretch it because they say the staples on the sides will snap. I'm still hopeful that they may stretch enough with continued use, but unless you have a narrow foot and/or a low instep, I wouldn't recommend these.

I am a nurse work 12 hour shifts. The first time I wore them I ended up running errands using public transportation, after working 7pm to 7am,and running errands I finally reached home at 12 noon and my feet were fine. The only others shoes I have worn more comfortable are MBTs at a much higher price. Dansko clogs are cute and supportive excellent for price. Bought size 40 slips a little in the back but I never feel like they will come off. Maybe that's part of the design. I usually wear size 9 but judged on the 40s the 39s might be tight. They look stylish, tooled leather easy to wipe off, heels gives nice lift to wear with longer scrubs. I gave overall 4 because I have been spoiled by MBTs but these are more comfortable than any higher priced sneaker I have tried and I have been a nurse for 15 years.

I have 2 nieces that are on their feet all day and wear Danskos. I am a substitute teacher and need good shoes, so I finally took the plunge. First ones I bought, I wore around the house to break them in...but no luck. So I asked a friend how long it took her to break hers in. She replied "You shouldn't need to 'break in' Danskos - return them and get re-fitted." So I went back to the store, told them the truth and they found me another pair in the same style and I had much better luck! But I don't wear socks in them. When I wear socks, they bother me at the end of the day...the socks. Not the shoes. So I started wearing them barefoot. But living in Minnesota, I don't know how long I'll be able to pull that off! I could never order shoes online without having an idea of what I'm dealing with. Try to get to a store and work there to start with. Also am wondering about polishing...just normal?

I am an MA, on my feet all day and they have been hurting all day and night lately. I have also started having low back pain. I've tried a lot of different shoes, even switched shoes half way through the day with no help. I have a few co-workers with these shoes and they love them. Because of the price I did a lot of research on them before I bought them. I never saw any negative reviews and it sounded like they would solve my feet and back issues. I've had them for about 2 months now and my back pain has vanished and my feet are MUCH better also! It took some time to break them in (like most shoes)and they rubbed the top of my feet in the beginning but my feet are used to them now and I'm so glad I invested in them! If you are on your feet all day, these are great! I ordered a 40 and wear an 8.5-9 in shoes. Yo don't want them tight. I tried them on at a store before purchasing them through Zappos to make sure I got the right size.

The tooled black appear to be sized different. Very frustrating!! I am a 40 in the cabrio and the box leather but am too small in the tooled. The 41 is too big...ugh. I guess I have to go without these but I think they are so cute.

So, I bought these because they were the closest thing to my size I could get (I wear at least a 48). So, lengthwise I expected these to be exactly as they were, so they get full marks for that. However, this was supposed to be the 'wide', and they are not. They feel about as wide as most 'd' or 'average/normal' width shoes are. They are not particularly wide at all. Don't get me wrong, they're decent shoes. I just wouldn't call them very wide. These shoes are rather snug in the width, is all, and I wear a EE. I wish that there were other available styles in this, but people that wear 15EE are just stuck with limitations when it comes to shoes. I'll continue to wear them, and hope that eventually they'll stretch out even more. Oh yeah, they don't breathe at all, so expect a hot foot in these suckers, if that's something about which you would be concerned. If you also wear a 15EE like me, there is a pair of Ariat boots on here that is awesome. They fit great, look great. Go find those.

I just bought my first pair of Dansko shoes, the XP Professional. They are lighter in weight than the regular professional models I tried on, have a removable insole so one can insert an orthotic or different insole, a sticky rubber sole that does not skid on slippery or wet floors, and a metal shank, which helps to give it a firm foundation for walking. I've tried to purchase Dansko shoes in the past, but every model I tried on was too wide and didn't give me good lateral stability. The XP shoes have very good lateral stability. These shoes are narrower than the regular professional models that I tried on, hence the better fit for me. As to sizing, Dansko's size chart was spot on. I normally wear a size 8.5-9.0 and size 39. Dansko's size chart shows the size 39 as the fit for American women's sizes 8.5-9.0. I tried a size up before buying, as recommended by others and found that a 40 had almost a half-inch gap in the heel. They are clunky looking in my book, hence the 2 stars for style, but everyone who has seen then has loved them and they work well for casual, as well as for those times when office attire is required.

These shoes are great after several hours on your feet. If you have a wide foot or taller arch, I would recommend a wide because of the way the top part of the shoe fits.

If you've not owned Dansko's, I suggest a professional fitting at a reputable shoe store. These shoes should be very loose. The way it was explained was that the shoe shouldn't "touch" you anywhere except the bottom of your foot. It's not a shoe, so you're not looking for a hugged feeling. They leave my feet and back painless after working in the OR all day!

I like these clogs, but they fit large. I tried size 42 on at a store and could not get my feet in, so when I ordered them on line I ordered size 43 (the size of most of my other Dansko and all my Sanita clogs). My other Dansko clogs in this size fit great over trouser socks or knee-highs. This pair runs wide (at least in the size 43), and is comfortable over heavier socks. These clogs are comfortable and beautiful, but be warned that they might run wider than other Danskos (and certainly other Sanitas) in size 43.

Took a very painful week to break in (with numb toes and bruised feet). After they were broken in, they are the best shoes for nursing that I own.

These came up in my search for D width woman's shoes. They were marked with sizes for both men and women, and as a medium width. In man's sizing, a medium width is generally considered to be a D. There is no way these are an actual wide (D) width, so I'm perplexed as to why these came up in my search when they are not the size I was searching for. Otherwise, these look to be excellent shoes, and I'm annoyed that they don't appear to come in my size, despite the fact that Zappos continues to direct me to these when I search their website for my size. I generally wear a US size 10, and the size 40 in these looks to be a bit too short, so if you are a true size 10, consider trying the size 41 in these.

These shoes are great! It does take a bit to get used to how your foot hits the floor when you walk, but they're comfy. For some reason my left shoe is tight on the top & if I'm sitting a certain way my foot starts to go numb so I'm hoping it loosens up with time & that stops, but overall I'm pleased. I'm a 9w usually & I had to buy the 40.

I love Danskos! They are fabulous shoes that last for years (well worth their cost). I haven't bought a pair of professional clogs in about 10 years, this particular pair is a bit tight across the forefoot and across the toe box as well. Keep in mind when buying the professional clogs they don't "cup" the heel, they should be loose where your heel will lift up and down.

I have plantar fasciitis, a beginning bunion on the outside and arthritis in my feet. Many friends said Dansko was the answer and these shoes do have great support. I find that my heels are sore enough to need an additional gel pad in the heel, however, but that's better than the entire insole I need in most shoes. I tried the full insole but it made the shoes too small and they hurt my toes and bunion. I probably should try some Danskos with a more padded insole. I ordered a 38 which is my usual European size and they fit well with thin socks. I like the funky look for winter and will wear them a lot.

Look, the fact of the matter is I think these are about the ugliest shoes known to man. That being said, I have been having back and knee problems for the better part of a year now, and switching from regular black dress shoes (whether flats or heels) to these has made a real difference. I even notice a positive difference between when I wear these on weekends and when I wear my regular street sneakers. Bottom line: these are shoes for health and comfort, not for style.

I wish these came in more sizes as I ordered two sizes and neither really fit. I stuck with the smaller as at least my foot didn't flop around. It pinches my toes so there isn't any blood in them after a shift at work. For the price they are well-made, but not comfortable.

Really nice shoe, but too wide and long for my foot (I wear a 10.5). The 40 is too short for my foot. I'm going to give Sanita a try.
