I listened to the other reviewers and ordered the WWs along with the Ws to test - am glad I did as it was the WWs that fit. Beautiful boots, lovely leather, have kept my feet warm in the single-digit temps we're having. Comfortable and well-cushioned, good length for me (I'm 5'2").

I tried on at least a dozen boots before deciding on these. They're stylish, waterproof and give my toes room to move. I usually wear average width, but took the advice to go to WW. So glad I did! I have enough room to wear a medium-weight sock without cutting off circulation. They're also comfortable right out of the box with no need for a padded insole. At first I was worried the ankle would be too stiff, but after my first wear I could tell they'd become more flexible. I had been hesitant about spending so much on a pair of boots, but I wish I had bought these years ago!

Bought this boot 2 years ago. Found it comfortable from the start. The real test was wearing this for 3 weeks in Europe this past Christmas. I walked a lot in it and still felt comfortable on those old European streets. There were some wet, rainy days but these boots kept my feet warm and dry (I wore knee high smart wool socks).

Completely agree with the reviewer from Dec. 23, 2012. Normally, I am a smallish 9.5M/W. Earlier this year, I ordered these boots in a 9.5W, matte black leather -- they felt too long and very narrow, despite the wide sizing. The shaft was also very snug (I do have large calves). The weird fit and the very matteness of the leather put me off, and I sent them back. (I couldn't quite decide if I liked the plain black leather or not -- there was something about the flatness of the leather, in combination with the stitching, that made the boots look a little "orthopedic" to me.) This week, taking my past experience and the 12/23 review into account, I ordered a size 9 WW, cherry patent leather -- and they fit great. The boot shaft is still a little snug; I'm still able to zip up the boots, but I don't know how I could tuck in leggings or skinny jeans. Nevertheless -- the boots are so cool looking when you see them in their entirety that I'm going to try to stretch them out on top so that I can tuck thin pants inside, or at least wear them with tights and skirts. Finally, the cherry leather is a nice rich red color, as others have noted. I don't know about wearing these boots in the snow -- it's not like they're fur- or shearling-lined -- but I can see them providing sufficient warmth and protection in the rain.

Honestly. I've had an easier time finding a bra that fits than fitting this boot! After having four in my possession at once, I can tell you that this general principal applies: for every half size you go up, go down half a width (e.g., 8 1/2 wide = 9 regular, etc.). * Size-wise, I'm a small 9 with 14" calves. The 8 1/2 W fit perfectly. Functionality-wise, I was looking for the Everything Boot: the one that I could walk to the subway in, wear to a professional meeting, come home, and race to school pickup -- in rain, snow, or sun. This definitely fit the bill! I walked a mile in them my first day, after wearing them to the Symphony, and had no pain at all. Style-wise, the red was a leap for me. I was replacing a black pair of Santana Canadas I'd worn for 11 years, and was ready for a change. The color is really pretty -- deep more than bright -- and they are very glossy. Will I still be as energized by the color when the holidays are over? Time will tell. My husband hates them and says the look like rain boots, but he's worn his brown boots long after the sole starting flopping off, so he's not exactly the Queen of Fashion anyway. I think they're fun and I feel happy when I wear them. * Word of warning: check the width markings on the inside of your boots. I ordered a regular width the first time. The box came marked with an "M," but the shoes were marked with a "W" inside. Zappos live chat told me the "W" was for women's, but this was not so. When a smaller size of this boot arrived, it was marked with an "M" on the inside -- THIS is the marking for Regular, and "W" is the marking for wide. (Later confirmed by Zappos telephone support.) These boxes look like they get shipped around a lot, so keep yourself from going crazy, and double check to make sure the width is what you ordered.

These boots are great! Unlike many other reviewers, I found that they ran true to size. I generally wear an 8, and the 8 in these fit absolutely perfectly. They are slim through the calves, which I like: they look great with dresses and tights. By far the most comfortable boots I own. They are as cushy as a pair of sneakers! I was somewhat hesitant about paying so much for these boots, but they have absolutely been worth it. I will definitely buy more boots from this company.

I love my La Canadienne boots! I have these in red and black, they are so Fantastic! They are honestly one of the most comfortable pair of boots you will own! I went to Seattle for the weekend and took my black and red pairs and that was all I needed for footwear. They are warm, comfortable, and stylish! Worth every penny for how much you will wear them!

I have been searching for the perfect black boots and am so glad to have finally found them. I love them so much that I'm tempted to order a second pair as a back-up! They are comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box area. Plus, they easily fit my custom arch inserts. I like that they're black boots, but don't look militant. And I like that they're close to flat, but not totally flat.

I recently discovered La Canadienne boots, and I am very pleased! While the leather isn't the best quality (I love Italian leather!), the boots are well made, durable and comfortable. And they're water proof (can't say I've been able to put them to a good rain test!). I also purchased suede boots from this line, and I have to say I like the suede a bit more as the quality of the suede looks better than the leather products. I still love them all and highly recommend this line!

The "shoe" part fits great and the shaft of the boot is shorter than I'd expected. I'm 5"2 and the top hits me right at the widest part of my calf. I'll try another boot with a taller shaft since my goal is to find a new "knee-high" boot. La Canadienne as a brand is great as always.

Thanks to this shoe I only wear clothes that will go with red boots. Seriously, I love this boot. Worth every penny. So comfortable, pretty, and warm. Love, love, love this shoe. I will say that it stretches a little with wear, so make sure they fit you properly from the beginning. Run true to size, but if they feel too roomy at first better order a size down to accommodate a little stretch.

These are my new favorite boots. I bought these in crinkle black, size 5. I love them--they are kick ass-looking boots that are comfortable and fit well. In true La Canadienne tradition, they are high-quality, no need for break-in time, comfortable and great looking boots. I have narrow calves and these fit very well over a pair of skinny jeans. I think they would look great with a mini skirt too, so they are very versatile. I'd had my eye on these for a while and finally decided to order/invest. I never thought they would become my everyday favorites, but they absolutely have and I have some really cool boots. I highly recommend these boots. They are kind-of mid-calf so it is a nice change from tall boots and gives a unique look. Love them!

At last! Boots that are comfortable, well made, waterproof, and that fit! I have short legs with normal calves (14") and slim ankles . My legs and feet tend to swim around in normal boots, and knee high boots tend to make my legs look slightly bow legged and shorter than they are. So I ordered Blache (in my normal size, 8M), and they're just about perfect. These definitely run skinny in the shaft. I had to put in light inserts to fill out the shoe, but the shaft fits my calf like a glove. The tight fit and the 1.5 inch heel make my legs look long and sleek with tights and a skirt, which makes fall and winter dressing a lot more fun. Of course the downside is that I can't wear anything but tights and thin leggings with these. The ankle relaxes a bit with wear, but after a week of wear, I haven't noticed any stretch at the top of the shaft. Style-wise, the boxy toe and the heel shape have an urban feel, though I think the boot would look better if both were a little more tapered. Finally, it's super comfortable to walk around in these boots. I wouldn't have spent a ton on most designer boots because they lack the comfort factor. These are definitely worth the money.

Great boots! Super comfortable, required no break-in period, and look great with a short or long skirt. Definitely outside my normal price range for shoes but worth it. I'll be wearing these for a long time.

These are beautiful boots! They are well worth the investment. Something that isn't clear from the description: they're lined with a nice fabric that hugs my legs and feet but doesn't make my feet sweat, even indoors all day. They fit my skinny calves pretty well -- not a big gap like most boots -- but they've got a good elastic gore if you have wider calves. I'm petite (5' 2"), and these are good for my height: there are a few inches between the top of the boot and my knee, so I don't look like Christopher Robin in his great big waterproof boots. I removed the foot bed and use my own orthotic, but they're very comfy with the foot bed as well. I wear these for work and for play, but I won't wear them for long walks in the mud because I want them to remain elegant and appropriate for dressing up. These are really comfortable, functional, and elegant -- I'm delighted.

I took the advice of other reviewers and bought the EE size (normally I wear wide, but not extra-wide) and that was a good call. It's definitely a plus that the insole is removable to put orthotics is. The boot is very comfortable, soft lining, soft leather. I found it to look a little more clunky and not as sleek and cute as I thought it looked online, but definitely not unattractive. Overall, great boot, high quality.

This is a high quality boot - well made, warm, comfortable, durable, waterproof (okay, I wouldn't play in a stream in them, but they are great in rain and snow), and attractively mod, if slightly plain. So warm are these boots that I don't wear them inside at the office most of the time because they are too warm. I got them for when I went to meetings in Edmonton, Canada and they were exactly what I needed for those extreme temperatures. These may be overkill if you don't spend a lot of time outside or if you live somewhere only somewhat chilly in winter. I have found that most women's winter boots look terrible or are too casual or are just decorative and not at all practical for winter weather; the Blanche boot is none of these and you will not be sad you invested real money in these if you enjoy a real winter where you live.

These boots absolutely, 100% rock. I felt they ran true to size, but I'm only wearing relatively thin socks underneath, not winter socks. I get zillions of compliments on them, and they were super comfy right out of the box. I think they look a little like a toned-down version of Wonder Woman's boots. (Did I mention how much I love them?) Worth every penny, and I don't say that lightly.

Got these in the cherry red. I discovered La Canadienne at Lord & Taylor just by chance and liked them so much that I searched for a pair of red boots online. I have a difficult time with shoes and even more so with boots. I can't wear pull on boots. I wasn't sure if I would keep these but now I have and I wore them all day in Manhattan and suffered no ill affects which is miraculous! If I can't buy American, the next best is Canadian I guess. Instead of taking off the boots when I come home, I have actually kept them on all evening; they are that comfortable.

I purchased these boots for a weekend getaway in Portland. They're the only pair of shoes I took for the rainy weather. I wore them with a dress to the symphony and tucked them into jeans to hike around town. I bought a half size larger because the ankles were too tight in my normal shoe size and it made the boots easier to get in and out of at the airport. These boots are classic -- not trendy nor are they stodgy. They worked beautifully in the rain. Even though I'm not a fan of wedges, I love these boots.

I absolutely loved these, and the wide width truly was wide enough for comfort, but the calf was so tight that my leg was "muffin topping."

These are my new favorite boots. I have purchased several pairs of La Canadienne boots over the past few years and the sizing is very standard. I always wear a size 9, and these were the same. I have read several other reviews mentioning that they were narrow, however that was not the case for me. I am about 5'7" and have a slender to athletic build. My feet are not narrow. I often have difficulty finding boots that are snug enough on my calf causing there to always be a gap for me. These have a smaller gap. They look great under jeans (I do not tuck), as well as with skirts and dresses. They can be dressy or casual. They are slightly shorter than some other boots, so they look great with designer tights/socks. I love them!

These boots are beautiful. They fit true to size and they're one of the few boots that doesn't gap out around my calf. Got them for winter in Southern Spain. Love that they're both stylish and waterproof.
