Not Quite Right - I really love Earth shoes, and I immediately thought of them when I needed a new shoe for work. I'm on my feet all day, and I really need arch support for my high instep. Unfortunately the stores in my area who carry Earth shoes had no sneaker style shoes for me to try on, so I ordered three pair off of Zappos--this, the Pacific and the Vata. Of the three, I liked this one the least. The arch support is *hard*, to the point where it almost hurt. I'm sure I could've gotten used to it had it been my only option, but I much preferred the other two to this one. Still, it's a great sneaker, well-made with good ventilation and the classic Earth shoe fit: negative heel, lots of arch support, and a very spacious toe box. I love ‘em; it's just that the Energetic wasn't my favorite.

Reliving my childhood - I loved my earth shoes growing up so was excited when I found out that they still make them. I am enjoying the Energetic's that I bought. Looking forward to buying more shoes.

I'm happy - Though I got a little blister on the side of my heel/ankle where the back contour hits my foot, when I first wore them, they are fine now. You can feel your calf and thigh muscles work as you walk...I'm thinking of trying a casual shoe pair too! I like this brand...

Surprising Athletic Shoe - Although I love my Earth Shoe sandals, I doubted whether Earth Shoes would make good athletic wear. Happily, I was wrong. These shoes offer excellent arch support and the comfort of Earth Shoes but are also great walking, running and exercising shoes.

It looks a little stubby and large compared with my other sneakers, but makes up for it in comfort. They have really improved my plantar fasciitis, but because they are wide, I ran into things for a day or so. Because the toe box is wider than most, they feel somewhat long. If you typically buy up a size to get more toe room, you won't need to do that.

Excellent arch support, perhaps too much. I have normal to high arches and long standing plantar fasciitis. I've tried many running shoes but thought the heel lower would be different. It's VERY comfortable walking but standing in them bites. Very sore heels and the arch. Wouldn't buy another pair but they are worthy to try. GREAT toe room so you don't have to worry about hammertoes! Also, first time Zappos customer, I am hooked and will be a loyal longstanding customer. Outstanding representatives and way of handling orders & returns!

Good overall - Kind of ugly, but these are not meant to be fashion statements. Definitely can feel them working my calves. Started out wearing them for only a few hours a day, but they still cause some ankle soreness. This has to be from the higher toe/lower heel layout because the shoe, even with a lot of padding in the ankle area, does not rub or even touch my ankles. Hope this will stop with some more wear. Like the heel reflectors - they totally light up! Got the dark grey & it goes well with most stuff. Overall: expensive, but worth it. Love Zappos for the fast free shipping!

I like them, but they're kind of stiff. I wanted to get some Earth shoes that looked more like regular athletic shoes. I have a lot of trouble with plantar fasciitis (however it's spelled!) and these shoes hurt my foot right now. I've been wearing the Earth Lazar Vegan and those don't hurt at all, so for now those are the shoes I'll be wearing, but I think after these ones get a little broken in, they will be more comfortable for me. They are a little bigger than I expected, but that works good for using orthotics. I will probably just get some more of the Earth Lazer's instead ‘til I get some relief from this dang bone spur in my foot!!!

Very Comfortable Shoe - My second pair of Earth shoes, the first purchased sometime back in the seventies!! These are great for walking and wearing throughout the day. My only complaint is that the shoe has a very noticeable smell. Kind of like synthetic rubber. As they are marked as leather upper, I am rather put off by this scent. There is no leather smell at all.

Puts a spring in my step - I'd been looking for a good athletic shoe for a while. I wear Earth shoes exclusively for work and decided to give these a try. I think these may require a short breaking in period, unlike my other Earth shoes. My foot slips forward when I walk down a steep hill. That could be because I don't have the laces adjusted properly. It is slightly narrow too; I can't comfortably wear thick socks with it. All that said, this is one comfortable shoe. Walking long distances is a pleasure; each step seems easier than in my previous walking shoes (Keens). I have a definite spring in my step in Earth Energetics.

I like 'em so far! I have been wearing them inside to make sure of the fit and so far, I like them. Will have to get them outside and use them in real life moving about to see if I experience the "Earth shoe experience" as most of your reviewers have.

Comfortable? Yes. But heavy. I was really looking forward to these shoes. I have to say they are pretty comfortable. But they are remarkably heavy. Plus I have wide feet and they fit a 1/2 size smaller. So I did go up a half a size before I ordered. If you had average width feet this would probably work, but it rubbed the top of my instep. Arch support is amazing. A little clunky looking but that might just be me. Good company and good shoes but maybe not this one style.

Love them!!! These are the best shoes ever! I don't even need to wear my orthos in them. If you walk short distances, you will not notice their effect, but if you walk longer distances, it will take about a week for your legs to adjust. I gave four stars overall since the back inside heel where you slide your feet in wore away forcing me to buy another pair sooner than I should have. After about three months of heavy walking, the tread was still in great shape. I love the shoes so much I was willing to give them another shot. This time I will be using a shoe horn. Maybe it was my fault for the wear... we shall soon see.

Interesting shoe - I've never tried Earth before, and I do enjoy the negative heel experience. I tried three other Earth shoes before finding the Energetic--it seemed the least ugly. It isn't gorgeous, but it's fine for an athletic shoe. I like the feel of this, and so have ordered another Earth shoe. If you haven't tried them, it's worth it. I have plantar fasciitis and they seem to help a bit.

Really Comfortable, but I Returned Them - This shoe felt good to walk around in, but they felt -- and looked -- soooo wide. I have an average width foot, but these made my feet look strangely huge. If you want a comfortable shoe by all means buy these, but just a heads up that they look big.

I'm a picky customer - I have had a lot of problems with my feet, so I'm always looking for a good shoe. The Energetic takes some getting used to, with the "negative heel," but it is well-made. Plan to give it some "breaking in" time. Zappos' super-fast shipping and return policy makes this an easy choice!

First timer - I wear the shoes for my daily 2 - 3 mile walk & can feel the difference in my leg muscles after each walk. I found them to be less comfortable for an all-day shopping trip, however. They are not as cushiony as I expected for the price, which was a little more than I normally spend.

Good walking shoe - This is a good, comfortable walking shoe. I will take up walking again after laying off due to ball of foot pain. Earth shoes have helped a lot in that regard.

Not bad, but... I tried these in the house over several days and just couldn't figure out what was wrong. Something just wasn't 'right'. I love my Earth Miami sandals and Nantucket’s, but these just didn't catch me the same way. A little off in comfort, a little heavy in the front. I wouldn't NOT recommend them - just be aware that they feel more different because it's a closed shoe. Hope that makes sense and helps you decide!

Earth's Energetic - All in all this is a great shoe. I have plantar fasciitis really bad. I've found that this shoe gives great arch support. The negative heel technology gives my foot and added boost. It keeps my foot stretched and stretches my calf muscles to. You do have to get used to the negative heel technology, so try them for a few hours a day until you get used to it. I won't recommend wearing them all day the first day.

Earth Sneakers - Based on other review, I did order this shoe 1/2 size larger which was perfect. Legs get a little tired after wearing all day, but very comfortable. Also aggravates an old sprain when I wear too long. As some reviews say...build up to wearing for long periods of time. But I am happy with my purchase.

Great Shoe for Those of Us on Our Feet All Day! If you have a sore lower back from standing on your feet all day, get a pair of Earth Shoes! My soreness virtually disappeared a day or two after I switched to this brand. Plus your posture improves. It takes a good couple of days to get used to the 'negative heel technology' (you feel like you are leaning backwards--don't try to compensate), but then you don't notice anything different.

Tennis shoes - These shoes help support me thru a $70,0000 weekend in a garden center...they were brand new and I had no difficult in working with them. Since then my back has given out but my feet has still kept up. Cathie

Comfy, Cute and Correct "sneaker" Normally I would not write about my foot issues, but after reading numerous reviews, I see that it may help others. So...Due to the kinds of shoes with which I have tortured my feet for the past 30 or so years, I have developed painful bunions. I have now discovered Earth Shoes. I knew about Earth shoes long ago, but for some reason never tried them. My feet are more comfortable with this "sneaker" on than off! I think that says it all. The ONLY reason that I did not give this shoe an overall rating of 5 stars, is that it is not made in a "Wide". But after reading several Earth Shoe reviews, I decided to order a 1/2 size larger and it fits just fine! I would (and will) purchase them again.

Very comfortable walking shoes - These shoes are extremely soft; they feel like I'm walking on pillows. My only problem is that the left shoe is about 1/16 too short. I don't think I would get a better fit by going up 1/2 size.
