This shoe is very uncomfortable. Your feet feels like it wants to come out of the shoe towards the back. Inside of the shoe is not deep enough. The shoe looks great; however, it is not worth the money. i literally had to remove the shoe off my feet on Friday on the way from a meeting because it was unbearable to wear. Not the same product as 5-10 years.

This shoe is everything I need it to be in comfort, style, and class. It seems dress shoes are trending with bizarre stitching, distasteful color combinations, and straight rubber soles--and these shoes put an end to that. I receive compliments whenever I wear them.

Im a big JM fan. I have this cap toe in black and brown. The laces wore out on the black pair after a year or two of moderate wear. BTW, I also have the Melton Tassel in black and brown. Great shoes, the lace durability was disappointing.

I bought a pair of Meltons in burgundy about 14 years ago. They held up pretty well and I had them resoled once. Problem was the finish wore off them over time. I've seem other reviewers say they were "corrected leather". Eventually they developed a crack. Fast forward and I recently ordered a new pair in tan. The outer leather seems higher quality than my last pair and they've slimmed them down a bit which I like. Looks like a 270 degree welt which is fine. There are some dark smudges on the leather likely from the factory which is annoying but for the price point I think these shoes are a good deal.

These shoes are great. My first pair lasted 10 yrs. I just had the sole replaced which was no big deal. Love my shoes. Especially since it's difficult for me to get the right shoes being my feet are wide and small. I'd like to get them in a different color.

I am retired now. When I was working I used to wear Johnson & Murphy all the time to work. In this days we had a Johnson & Murphy store in Austin. I always made sure the shoe fit before I left the store. I bought this pair on line. If we still had a store in town I would never have walked out with this pair. I think I can make these shoes work for me by using oversized shoe trees and stretching the shoes to make them just a bit wider. If not I will simply throw them away or give them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. I do not like the tongue being sewn to the side of the shoe. It is very inconvenient. From past experience, this is a very good shoe.
