I'm not a cowgirl, but I do a lot of outside work. I will wear these boots for outdoor work and with jeans casually. They are very comfortable - and I have wide feet. Boots in wide are hard to find, and these are great! I had to put a tennis ball in the right shoe overnight to stretch out the instep a bit - but it fits fine now. Not terribly feminine looking, but that could be because I have a wide foot. The leather is really soft, comfortable, and beautiful. It's rustic but not too much. Not much arch support, but I have heel cushions that fit in them well. They seem made with very high quality and I look forward to having these for a long time. Great buy. As always, Zappos service is wonderful.

I really like these boots. They were comfortable from the first day I wore them. They have a nice molded footbed with arch support.

These are a very well made, nice looking, comfortable boot. I've ridden them, done farm work in them, and worn them to class and work- they performed well in all of these places. I have never had a bad experience with Ariat, and Zappos is a wonderful company as well- definitely try these out!

It is hard for me to say how this boot runs size-wise. I'm a man with small feet and often have to buy the women's version of the shoe I want, as they come in smaller sizes than the men's shoe (but usually get the wide version if available). I like this boot, it fits nicely, but is a little bit loose at the ankle. Otherwise quite comfortable and looks great. Get compliments all the time.

These are the best boots! They look fantastic. They fade and weather really nicely, the footbed is very comfortable. I will say that when they are new, the leather is tight, but if you stuff a sock or baseball into the shoe overnight, it loosens the leather in that area and makes them more comfortable to get on and off. As mentioned, you wouldn't want to order 1/2 size larger or they may not be as comfortable. Thin socks or barefoot and they are perfectly to size.

I was a little nervous ordering my size when I read others comments stating that they seemed big, but I followed my instincts and ordered 8.5, exactly the size that I always wear; they are perfect, glad I did. I can wear them barefoot and with a sock, just right. The styling is perfect to wear with everything! Glad I bought them. Love them.

I love my boots.It took me four months to find the boots that I wanted for the price I wanted. This pair followed a failed choice of a pair of Cole Haan boots that fell apart in a month. These boots are super comfortable, sturdy and cute. I\'m satisfied with these and will look at Ariat first in the future

I love Ariat boots, especially the Fatbaby line. I decided to try these Ropers and I love them, too! The color of the distressed brown is darker than the picture shows and I think it is actually prettier. Overall, these boots are super cute, with the rounded toe looking quite nice, not too pointy for everyday wear, but just enough to dress things up a bit. They are quite a bit less clunky looking than the picture!They were a bit tight at first, I actually had to use the straps to help pull them on. Once on, they fit well, except, like a few other reviewers mentioned. I found the heel rather loose. Very happy with this stylish, comfortable boot!

Ordered these boots at 10:00pm on a Wednesday night and had them by 6:00pm on Thursday! Ordered my normal size and they fit very well. I did not have any trouble getting them on or off. They were very comfortable right away, not stiff at all. Highly recommend!

Zappos are unbelievable! I ordered these boots yesterday and they were on my doorstep this afternoon! They were the right size and fit like a glove! I wish I had waited one day for the sale but I have no regrets!

These are great boots. I ordered these the same size as my Ariat clogs and mules and had to return for a 1/2 size smaller. That smaller size fits great. Good for walking, good for standing. I love them!

These are my second pair of Ariat boots. They are great: comfortable, classic looking, and very well made. They arrived quickly and were true to size. I used to get Tony Lamas, another great boot, but find Ariat to be so much more comfortable. And I love Zappos. Their customer service is beyond compare.

Bought the 8.5M, these are stiff boots and for the first few days they were very difficult to get on and rubbed to the point where I might have to stop wearing them. But now, they fit like a pair of gloves: still stiff, but they seem to have molded to my foot shape. The Ariat arch support means they are super-comfortable for all day on my feet. The colour is a perfect mid-brown, I have used a brown cream polish to smarten them up, though the distressed finish is fine, it's just that this way they look 'cleaner'. Look great under jeans. Still a little tough to get on but worth the effort!

Success the 2nd Time Around! I purchased these boots 6 months ago but, because I had difficulty getting them on, sadly had to return them. But after reading a previous review describing how to get them on, I decided to give these boots another try and I am so happy I did! I purchased my normal size, I bought a long boot shoe horn, and I removed the gel footbed insert. Wearing a thin nylon stocking and using the long shoe horn, I was able to get my boots on. After a couple of times, I inserted the footbed and repeated the process. A few more repeats of the process, and now I can wear the boots with thicker socks. The boots are very comfortable and I look forward to wearing them for a very long time. Thank you, Zappos! And special thanks to the reviewer with all the great tips. You rock!

Keep trying! It's true, these are unbelievably tight! You will be convinced you will never be able to get them on. Keep trying; it is possible. First of all, order your normal size. I usually wear a 7 1/2 M in shoes, sometimes a 7. I ordered a 7 1/2 M in these, and once I got them on, there was plenty of room in the footbed. I have high insteps too. Here's how I got them on: I put a waterproof bandaid (because waterproof stays on well) on the bone on the top of my foot where the friction would occur. Next, put on thin nylon socks. Then remove the footbed inserts from the boots (this gives you a tad more room). Using a long, boot shoe horn to help the heel slide in, work your foot slowly into the boot. Then take boot off. Do this a few times to stretch the leather. Try to put boot on again after reinserting the gel footbed insert. I was able to get my foot into the boot, with the insert, on the second try. Once on, the boot feels really comfortable with plenty of toe room and the width was fine. The leather should stretch the more it's worn, enabling use of a thicker sock. You wouldn't want to order too large and have the boot slip after it stretches. By the way, the leather color is much darker than it shows on line, a beautiful distressed brown.

Great Boots - I agree with some of the other reviews on having some trouble in getting into the boot. I followed the advice of sizing up and I barely have trouble getting my left in, but since my right is slightly larger, I have major trouble getting that foot in to the boot. It is an otherwise great looking boot. The color is a more chocolatey brown than what the picture shows, which is a plus since that was the color I was aiming for.

Great Boots - I haven't worn the boots alot yet. Living in CA, I tend to wear sandles as long as & whenever possible. I wore the boots to a concert & was on my feet for a few hours without having sore feet. For me, that's a real big deal!!

Really nice boot! These are cool, rugged looking boots- great for kicking around town. The leather is soft and has that broken-in feel.

Ariat Boots are the best - I bought my new Ariat Roper boots to replace the ones I had for years. I was thrilled to see that Zappos had them and ordered them immediately. They are tough as nails and last forever. They are the most comfortable boots available, I have other brands but always choose to wear my Ariats. Especially when I know I will be on my feet all day.

Workboot - The boots are great, and true to size. I have a bunion on one foot, and am working to pad the boot, but the is a personal problem, not one of the boots.

Ariat makes the best boots. I am so glad I bought these. They are the most perfect work/casual wear boot. Surprisingly comfortable. Don't think twice about it... get a pair for yourself :)

Ariat makes great boots! This roper is my 4th pair of Ariat boots or shoes. They combine comfort, good looks and quality with a reasonable price. I bought this boot for barn wear, but they're so nice I'm tempted to wear them as casual boots. Hmmm, maybe I need another pair? Zappos is a terrific company - fast service, free shipping, huge selection. I think they're great!
