Great Boots!!! Favorite Shoe Store!!!! I wore this boot for the first time yesterday, Easter Sunday. Although I have difficulty putting them on, only because of my oddly shaped feet which look like a letter "S" from the side view w/ an extremely high arch) I experienced NO discomfort whatsoever. I wore them for approx 12 hours and didn't even feel the need to remove them for a while. And I know the more I wear them the more comfortable they will be as they are very well-made. Thank you, Zappos, for a terrific shoe store and for making my life much less stressful. I can now avoid the waste of time looking for something comfortable to wear on my poor feet and the embarrassment of having to explain to some stranger, who could really care less, why I need a very short, WIDE shoe. And your return policy is the icing on the cake!!!

Ariat Heritage Roper - This company is fantastic! They get your shoes to you super fast and I love that there is free shipping/returns. Just a 1st class company. These boots are great. Very comfortable and will be great for the stables.

I REALLY wanted these Ariat Ropers to fit. I have another pair of Ariats that are so comfortable I can be on my feet all day long and my feet feel great. I chose this style because it was plain and simple; no pink stitching, etc. and an old-school round toe. I normally wear a size 8 shoe, but in Ariats I wear a 7.5. I have a high arch, so I bought the C width, as that's normally what works for me when available. Unfortunately, the arch area was really tight. I know that leather has to break in (although my other Ariats were comfortable out of the box), so I wore them around the house for the morning. As much as I was hoping they would loosen up, they didn't. Perhaps they would have eventually loosened up over the arch, but my feet were so uncomfortable during the first break in period I decided to send them back. Darn!!

Good looking boot. Stiff, narrow, tight around the arch. I wear a 7.5 wide in the Western Heritage so I ordered the same size in these. I was able to get them on but they squeeze my foot so much. I kept trying them on in the house hoping to make them work. I got out my other boots to compare and they don't look to be a different length or width but they feel so different. The leather is very stiff which makes me think they can be broken in to become great work boots. They have great ankle support. But for riding I just don't know. I am tempted to order a size 8 wide because when I walk I can feel my toe hitting the end of the boot. I hate sending things back and forth so much even though Zappos is wonderful about that. I may just order another color in the Heritage and accept that that's my boot. I also don't think that these would fall off if I needed them to. I disagree with most of the reviewers. Instead of ordering a half size down I recommend ordering a half size up.

Nice quality, but leather is stiff. Would take quite a bit of break-in time. A normal B width foot with bunions will be in pain. Length is true to size. At my age, I've learned if it's not comfortable out of the box, return it. Zappos delivery and return makes the process easy. Thanks, Zappos.

These are relatively comfortable boots since I usually do not wear this type. They are made from a bit stiffer leather than I am used to. I wanted to use thin socks as it is hot here in the summer. There is a bit of a cushion to the sole too. Not really stylish but I want function so I do not care too much with these. I am walking in fields with snakes and I do not think they care about style.

These boots are very comfortable and well made. I am a solid size 9, and the Ariat size 9 was the right size. These are basic black boots with very little adornment or flair. The look to me is very casual, and not even a little dressy as I thought they might be from the photo, but they are so comfortable I will keep them as a casual boot.

Classic style, great support and comfort. I have had other Ariat boots and they are made to last. (Ariat also has a resoling program for certain styles). As another reviewer mentioned this style seems a bit snug when putting them on, but I think that is the difference between a working boot like this and a fashion boot. Even if your work doesn't involve a horse, but only navigating uneven sidewalks on foot, you will be pleased with the Heritage Roper.

Super cute, but even wide width was too narrow for my wide feet. And I wouldn't say my feet are crazy wide, but I definitely need wide-width shoes. Bummer. The hunt for a cute wide boot continues.

These are comfortable once the boot is on. The length and width was fine. They're a bit tight where the foot bends to get into the boot. I like the rubber sole. It works well in the rainy weather in Seattle. The rustic leather and the height of the shaft is perfect to wear with dresses and skirts. I'm 5'2" and the shorter shaft fits perfectly under my larger calves.

Heritage Roper-distressed leather- Well, I absolutely love Ariat, and Zappos! Zappos is super quick and great customer service and Ariat for comfort and durability can't be beat! I like this particular boot to ride and work around the barn. I first bought this particular boot almost 3 years ago. I have the same problem with both pairs, putting them on and taking them off! I read where another buyer said the same thing and she too has high arches. Even after you've worn them some, you'll still have to fight to get these on and off. I have other Ariat boots and do not have this problem, it IS THIS particular boot. On the up side, my last pair of these held up for nearly 3 years of daily long hours in the barn, on the horses, through all kinds of weather including snow. They can definitely take the abuse if you can get them on and take them off! They were a bit snug compared to my other Ariats. I'd get this boot in a half size larger.

These are great and not too trendy - I've just always loved these kind of boots so I didnt buy these b/c of the whole western trend. No embellished stitching or clunky heels, thankfully! Ariat is designed for comfort and these really do deliver. The insole is sculpted for support and quite padded as well. Buy them big so that you can wear thick socks and so your feet can move around a bit. My only complaint is that the right boot rubs against the inside of my lower calf as I walk, which has caused a skin irritation, but it seems to be getting better the more I wear them. I don't know if the boots are to blame, it may due to the fact that I walk quickly around NYC all day.

I loved the look of these boots out of the box. Unfortunately I could not get my feet in them. When I did force them, the boot was very narrow and tight. No way I'd ever be able to wear them. I almost always fit in a 6.5 wide. This felt narrower than any 6.5 reg shoe/boot I've tried. Disappointed because as I said it's a beautiful boot.

These were very stiff and tight around the top and sides of my foot. Maybe these need to be worn in before they fit really well, but I did not want to risk them not fitting well after trying to break them in. I returned them because I could not bend my foot enough to drive and was afraid they would not break in enough to feel comfortable in the end.

These boots are beautiful. The size was larger than expected, but would have been fine with thick socks and orthotics that I planned to insert, but the leather is so stiff, and the inside seams were quite pronounced and hurt. So sad to have to return as I LOVE the look.

These are beautiful boots and they fit me well. Unfortunately, they have thick seams down the sides of the interior of each boot. The inner side seam hit me just at the ankle bone, making them quite uncomfortable even with socks on. Perhaps if the boots were wider, this wouldn't be a problem. But they will have to be returned.

I ordered these in the same size as what I typically wear and I could not even fit my foot in them without worrying they'd be stuck on me! I like the style and the leather felt like it was good quality, but unfortunately they didn't work for me.

Very cute out of the box. Loved the flat heel. Not for me though, not a good fit for a narrow kind of bony foot.

I had great expectations of this boot, having been so pleased with previous Ariat shoes. But the first pair arrived and I couldn't get them on. My foot is average width, and has a fairly high arch, but I've never run into a 'putting-on' headache as I have with these. Returning them, I got a half-size bigger, 7B. Still they are exceedingly hard to pull on (and off), but I am determined to break them in- and that's despite the pressure on my arch and the buckling around the outside ankle bone. They only feel comfy around the toe and heel. Not sure what was up with the design of this particular boot, but I will be more leery now of buying Ariat. That is disappointing!
