I was looking for a comfortable walking shoe that wasn't ugly and clunky looking. This shoe fit the bill. I have a slightly wider foot (usually wear a D) and a high arch. The shoe has good arch support but is a wee bit narrow so my wide foot is a little snug. But otherwise it's great. And I think it's very cute.

I had to return this item because it is far too stiff between the toes and was digging in. I really loved the look, but could not deal with the stiffness of the straps.

It strap around my toe is very uncomfortable. I am trying to break it in but as much as I love these shoes I think I have to return them.

Fit was totally wrong for my feet, straps all hurt and/or were in the wrong place.

Buckle on right sandal rubbed the top of my foot.

The leather was so stiff it was very uncomfortable.

Just did not fit my left foot. My left heel kept running off the shoe. I have several of this style. This pair did not work.

Mephisto Helens were my go-to sandals for years. Took a couple yrs' break from them & was ready for new ones – but these are a lot less comfortable than I remember. On one of the feet, the leather over the arch & the toe loop have rubbed the skin raw. Seems the leather is less soft or pliable than before, or the cut is off. Never had this trouble before with them – even tho I usually don't like thongs between my toes, the old Helens were always the exception, so I expected the same now. Disappointing! I hope they will soften with more wear but meanwhile I'm needing bandaids on my feet to protect them.

I love Mephistos shoes and the confort. But this color is quite dull.

Would have been the perfect sandal. Excellent fit, very comfortable footbed (softer than my Birks) but the piece between the big and next toe was so stiff and rough it would have caused blisters and bleeding in no time flat. For this price point I don't expect to have to spend weeks or months breaking in the leather!

This sandal, while pretty and seems; would be comfortable - had a very small toe opening. Length and width of whole shoe was fine; it was just the toe opening that was small. I would have kept except I don't want to rub a blister into my foot while breaking the leather in. Oh well. Returning.

True to size, I liked the style and look but the edges of the leather are sharp so uncomfortable. Maybe they would smooth out after wearing for a while

True to size since there should be room at toe and heel. Unfortunately the strapping has sharp edges and is uncomfortable for me. Well made.

I wanted to love these because I loved the color and style, but they rubbed the top and side of both feet even after wearing 3 or 4 times and with bandaids. I had to get rid of them.

The shoe ran small in length which made my overall rating and comfort rating go down.

If you need to use the last hole in the strap to tighten it, the other strap juts out. It is a design flaw.

Loved the look of this sandal, tried to branch out from a life of Birkenstocks. Too narrow, even when I sized up. Appreciate the wonderful turnaround time Zappos provides with exchanges.

So so disappointed. Really tried to make them work. They’re beautiful and really comfortable when I first put them on (altho the buckle holes were a little different so each foot felt cinched in differently). The real problem is that the lovely nubuk leather stretches so readily that the shoes ended up floppy and very difficult to walk any further than around the house. I actually slipped out of them on the steps. I’m so sad. The navy is a beautiful shade and it’s an elegant shoe for a comfort sandal.

Zappos constantly calls 42 European USA 12 and it is just not so. USA 12 need 43 or 44, especially with a molded footbed.

I purchased the black patent leather style of these shoes to wear during a trip to Spain. The shoes felt like they have good support and comfort. The bummer is the upper strap cut into the tops of my feet, causing blisters. Also, the dye from the inside of the straps stained my feet! I am disappointed that these shoes left my feet looking and feeling terrible. I would not recommend these shoes.

I have purchased many Mephisto shoes over the years. This Helen shoe in black is the most uncomfortable of all. It seems like the leather is not as soft as it used to be as this pair is so stiff between the toes that it is painful to wear them. I bought a pair of Helen's in Athens, Greece 4 years ago, and literally walked out of the store wearing them and to this day, have never had an issue with them. Are these being made using less friendly material now? I am very disappointed, they are cute on, but I cannot imagine ever breaking them in without using a box of bandaids to protect my toes in the process. That is why I am sending them back. Frustrating, because they have never disappointed before.

I really like the style and feel of the shoe. I could tell they were very well made, but I have thin feet and there wasn't a way to adjust the foot strap that went over the top of my foot. Sadly, I had to return.
