My experience with these sandals: They are great looking (got them in black nubuck). I was attracted to them because of the color and the strap between the toes. I returned them because the buckle was agitating my skin. This is strange, but when I walked in them, they "squeaked"! Maybe that is just the pair I received. Because of the great look, and all the positive feedback, I would definitely "try them on for size". I am a size 9, ordered a size 9 and was happy with the fit.

I had given up on thong sandals because everything I tried was so uncomfortable, but I thought I would give it one last try. This is a keeper. The bronze color is beautiful and goes with everything. And, the sandal is very comfortable for just knocking around. I wouldn't take a long walk in it, however, as it does rub on the inner side of my right toe when there is consistent pressure on it...like going up or down a slight hill.

Comfy shoe. Just wish they offered a wide option. I'm a true 6 1/2 (7 in closed toe shoes). I have a small but wide foot. I ordered the 37 (7) which fit the length of my foot just fine but the widest part (just under the outer ball of my foot) spilled out over the side, and my baby toe hit the ridge. I'd say these are are a true medium width shoe. If you have narrow feet, they'll fit you well due to the adjustable buckle. Zappos is wonderful but I had to return these. I ended up purchasing a pair of Birkenstock Mayari's in town in a size 36 (5). The Birkenstocks fit my small but wide feet pretty much perfectly.

Just what I wanted. You really do need to order a full size up from your usual. I wear an 8 1\/2 and ended up with a 10 for these.

I\'ve been buying this classic Mephisto sandal every summer for years. I have them in brown, black, red, and light green. Because I have high arches and problem feet, this is one of the styles that gives great arch support and is both comfortable and casually good-looking. I only wish that Mephisto made sandals in a single-A width. While my instep is wide because of bunions, my heel is still narrow, and by the time I\'ve worn them for a while, I have to have an extra hole punched in the strap. This isn\'t a huge problem and so I continue to rely on them as a sturdy and comfortable walking shoe.

The gold color and surface treatment of the leather uppers is lovely.\r\n\r\nI find the leather to be stiff and hard to wear, but I feel like they will wear in over time. Although I appreciate the thickness of the sole, I find it heavy for a strappy sandal.\r\n\r\nThey do work perfectly with my bunioned feet missing all the hot-spots. So I am hoping I get used to them.

CAUTION! CHANGE IN THE SIZING! I own 4 pair of the MEPHISTO Helen and really love it. However, I just ordered a pair in my usual size (40), got them, and they are a full size too short. Incredulously, I measured them against all my others and they are definitely running at least a full size smaller than usual. Sadly, I am returning them, ordering up a full size and really hoping it was a fluke and that Mephisto has not changed this much. I read in several other reviews recently that the quality had changed and I hope this is not the case.

Very comfortable sandal. I have plantar fasciitis and I thought it would have more arch support but I can still wear them for a day at work. I would not be able to wear them for a day of sightseeing or a lot of walking.

I wear 8 1/2 slim and the 8 1/2 med fit pretty well because the strap is adjustable. I find the bed to be pretty hard. I normally buy sandals from Born and Merrell which are much softer.

This is a beautiful sandal, but too narrow for me. My toe was falling off the shoe. It's a shame because I could tell that it would be very comfortable! I wear a regular width in Birkenstock, so these may just run more on the narrow side.

I would like to start off saying that when I first put on the sandals I had it at the 2nd notch and after a while (1 week of wearing them 3 times) I had to put it to the smallest notch, and now they stretched again making them loose on my foot, and sliding from side to side. In other words they stretched and I am afraid that they will keep stretching to the point that they will be too big to wear. The foot bed is as comfortable as can be. The arch is perfect. Overall they were expensive to say that I may not be wearing them again next year if they stretch any more. Too bad I had to wear them long enough not to be able to return them. Aside from the stretching out, I would have given them 5 stars all the way across. May I add that ZAPPOS is my NUMBER 1 SHOE STORE! The customer service and the shipping is by far the best in the world!

The gold is very cute. Metallics are always a nice neutral and don\'t show wear like nubuck, suede, or light-colored leathers. Comfortable for standing. Not so much for walking as there is no backstrap. Would be perfect with some sort of backstrap! Good arch support. Much nicer than Birkenstocks.

This is a very comfortable shoe. It's my second pair and I love them now that I know to order a size larger than normal. I'm a size seven and a thirty-eight fits perfectly. They are too narrow if you order your regular size.

I am disappointed in these sandals. They are comfortable for limited walking, but there is very little cushioning or spring for any serious walking. Also, the leather stretches out quite a bit requiring the toes to clench to keep the sandal on. I don't mind buying an expensive shoe if it delivers more than just average comfort, but I don't feel that these Mephistos do deliver. I do, however, love Zappos!

These shoes were made for my feet (almost). The arches and foot support are just right. The only problem I have is with the front of the footbed which curves up. My long toes bump into it when I walk.

I am not a big fan of this type of shoe. I prefer something a little more stylish. However, as a mom of two small children constantly on the go, my feet were hurting and I needed something with good support. These are incredibly comfortable and provide great support.

Leather is stiff -
Mephisto is a great brand with a comfort level only matched by a few others, but although this shoe was very comfortable, it has one problem; the leather styles are very stiff. The toe separation has the potential to be painful. Mephisto should've used a softened leather!

I love these sandals. The fit was like a glove from day one. My only issue has been that I own the pink nubuck and they have faded SO much that the color is now an ugly beige. I've owned them for about two years. I tried contacting Mephisto to see if I could get them redyed but never had a response.

Comfy support, but patent straps rubs toe - I bought the spice perle patent color, and, although it felt very supportive, the leather was way too stiff on the section that goes between your big toe and second toe. I would've had blisters after walking for just a bit. I'm sure the nubuck was probably softer, but unfortunately they don't have any nubuck colors in my size right now. I usually wear an 8 but ordered a 9 and it fits very well.

Overall I think this is a wonderful shoe. The only negative I have is that the front strap is too loose over my foot. I have thin feet so there is a gap between the top of my foot and the strap. Otherwise, this is a very comfortable shoe with an excellent footbed. I would like to see the straps with velcro so that the shoe would be more adjustable to all feet types. Great walking shoe. I did try on the shoe in a 38 and 39. I wear a 7.5 or 8 in shoes. I kept the larger size as advised.
