I was very excited to receive my shoes, but I have to say I was disappointed by how narrow the toe box turned out to be. I have a narrower than average foot (I had to tighten to the second smallest hole for the buckle) yet my pinky toes wants to hang over the edge a bit. The length surprised me too. The description warned to order up if you were on the edge of a size, however my left foot, which is 9-9 1/2 due to a surgery, is pretty much maxing out the size 10, and my right foot (closer to a 9.5 than a 10) is barely contained. I guess next time I will try an 11 but will try them on in the store first. Everything else about the shoes are great. The 4 stars overall were due to the sizing.

I really like these-not so clunky as Birkenstocks (of which I have owned numerous pairs). However, the toe post did rub on the second toe of both feet-used a nail file to smooth out the edge and hope this will do it (rather than an ugly bandaid).

Great shoe! I wanted something similar to Birkenstocks but cuter. These fit the bill. They are pretty comfortable but I am still adjusting to the toe strap on my left toe. I am able to stay in them all day and not feel any discomfort. Yay! The silver color is especially cool and it goes with everything.

These sandals were very comfortable from the first day. The arch support is good for a lot of walking. The style is a bit chunky for me but that tend is cycling back. I've already used them for walking all day in NYC and there's no break in period or rubbing. They fit securely on your feet and are adjustable. I have a slightly wide foot and they're wide enough. I'm usually a size 10-10/12 and the 41 was perfect.

Honestly, I was disappointed in this sandal. It is my 2nd pair of this style & the lower strap is very uncomfortable unlike my 1st pair. Otherwise, I love the quality, the style & the color.

This is my second pair, I had my first ones a year or so and really loved them. Ordered both in Grey Etna..Love the color!! I was very disappointed though, that the arch support was not as good as the first pair. Even after being worn a year, my first pair has more support. Unfortunately I have worn the second pair a couple times, so I can't send them back. Wish I would have tested them more before wearing.

The strap between the toes is uncomfortable. I love the look of the shoe and the color is beautiful. So sorry that it is not wider so that it would not bother the toes.

This is a comfortable sandal,but can not give it 5 stars because of a big blister on a second toe. I will wear these out and about, but they are rather cloddish. Let rave reviews cloud my judgement on this purchase.

I'm not a sandals person but needed sandals for walking around Europe. These were comfy right out of the box. The brown saddle were not as clunky looking as other brands, like Birkenstocks, but they are just as comfortable, if not more.

These shoes were super good looking on my foot, arch support hit in the right place, length was perfect, but my toes and edge of foot hit the side edges of the shoe near the toes. Because of the shape of the shoe, they were hitting the edge which was "sharp" not rounded. Just not quite enough room for the width of my feet to fit into the rounded space for toes. Too bad.

Very comfortable. Would have kept them but I decided they were not the look I wanted. They made my feet look too chunky.

I love these shoes and have 4 pairs in different colors. They have saved me when I had severe arch pain and allowed me to walk for miles. I cannot walk barefoot anymore so I live in these shoes both indoors and out. My only complaint is that I have one particular pair, the silver strap style, where the soles are NOT non-marking. They mark up my hard wood floors all the time and so I am constantly cleaning up after myself. I called customer service at Mephisto and they denied that this could happen. I offered to send them a video of it happening, they were not interested and said I could mail them in and they would take a look at them, but would not replaced them if it was true, so why would I bother?

Beautifully made sandals with excellent arch support. My only complaint is that the left sandal hurts the top of my foot underneath the buckle if I wear them for longer than an hour. But I'm keeping the sandals and hoping the sandal will soften -- or my foot will toughen up!

Wish I could keep these - the toe bed runs slightly narrow - my little toe was running over the edge. The heel cup was totally fine though. They feel like they would be quite comfortable, and the teal color was absolutely gorgeous.

I really, really want the Mephisto's to work; however, I have one foot that's a little wonky so they fit perfect on my left foot, not so much on the right foot. They might fit if I could have a different size for each foot alas, I know that's not possible. These are gorgeous, the shoe that did fit, fit perfect and comfortable right out of the box. The piece between the toes doesn't rub anywhere, the leather is very super soft. I'm deeply saddened that I have to return these.

I really needed a walking around sandal with extreme arch support for a warm weather vacation. It is so difficult to find that and still not think it is an ugly looking shoe. But the Mephisto Helen offered great arch support (I have very flat feet) and a not-so-hideous look. I was pleasantly surprised.

I love these sandals, but what has changed? The last pair did not last as long as the first two pair, and indeed, my feet also stink! The first two pair lasted 3-4 years and the last two barely a year! Cracked leather and cracked cork. Very disappointing. I will pay willingly good money for good shoes, but now I must consider whether I'll buy these again.

A very comfortable shoe, needs no breaking in. Attractive. It is not the color as shown; it looks more like a silvery gold. I would have preferred the warmer bronze color.

So when do they stop squeaking? I've had Mephistos before and never had this issue. I wore them around the house on carpet for a good hour and they still make way too much noise for me. Back they go.

So disappointed. My usual shoe size is a 7.5, so I ordered the 38. It was too small. I ordered the 39 and it was too big. Both had to be returned. Other than size, these shoes seemed great: comfortable, sturdy, and cute (for earth-mother shoes).

I have had several pairs of this shoe and find the nubuck to be more comfortable than the standard leather. I have a narrow foot so its wide for me but this particular style can be tightened. The toe piece takes some breaking-in but it's a great everyday shoe and the cork sole conforms to your foot and is very comfortable. You can send them to Mephisto to get them completely refurbished for about 50% of a new shoe but it takes a long time so plan ahead.

I got these to replace my beloved bronze Helens from four years ago (this is my third pair of Helens in more than 10 years, I love them!). The color of my old bronze Helens was a dark subdued metallic greenish brown that looked brighter on the website, but were beautiful and matched with almost everything. This new pair looked bright and shiny on the website and even blingier when they arrived! They are really flashy. Too flashy for me, really, but once I got them on my feet it was hard to take them off so it was hard to send them back because they are so darn comfortable. If you're looking for a fun and flashy shoe, these are for you. If you're looking for the famous Mephisto comfort only, you'll have lots of other colors to choose from. I've had them for about a month and have not noticed the stinky feet syndrome that some reviewers mentioned. I love everything about about them except the color.

Very comfortable. I did not have any problem with the toe area of the sandal. Had to break in the buckle area a bit. Good fit and comfortable for my plantar faciitis.

Great shoe wish I could have kept it...heed the advice, buy a size larger than your normal shoe size. If you have wide feet this shoe is not for you. When I tried it on the comfort of the arch support almost made me ignore the fact that my toes were on the edge of the shoe. I thought I could deal with that because they were sooo comfortable however, walking around a bit in the house made me realize the raised edge would start to hurt after a while. Boo Hoo, I really like these shoes. The customer service team at Zappos is absolutely wonderful, Hyatt and Ashley were quick to help and oh so professional. Thanks Zappos for having a wonderful selection and great employees. I did end up with sandals that worked out.

I bought these shoes for use in Europe this summer. I know I'll be doing a lot of walking. I'm currently "breaking them in." They are a nice looking comfort sandal, definitely high quality (I would hope so, for the price!), and without a doubt comfortable. However, they are slightly narrow. My baby toes rub against the outer rims of the sandals. I wish they were a teeny tiny bit wider. Otherwise, happy with my purchase so far. And I will definitely write again after I return from walking all over Europe! By the way, I'm usually a standard size 8.5, normal foot width, and I ordered a 38.
