Difficulty getting the feet in the shoe with a tight tongue was thinking of exchanging for wide but not available. Thought it would be like the SG5 but too tight.

I've been wearing Hoka's for over 12 years, always the same size without issue. Even after completely loosening the laces I could barley squeeze these on and the top of my feet still ache after taking them off after only a few minutes. It has a very stiff tongue and tight, inflexible top and were unwearable for me.

I was unable to get this shoe on with a shoehorn. I wear wide and have a high instep. I have had Speedgoat before and the older ones have elastic between the shoe and tongue. This new Speedgoat the tongue is sewn directly to the shoe, no elastic. I really liked the design however!

I've had numerous pairs of Hoka Spoedgoats, but I'm going to change brands. The change in upper design makes these the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. Ended up leaving them in a hotel room after they hurt my feet so badly I couldn't think of wearing them again

I bought these as my black work shoes. I sit or walk. I used them for about a month, probably less than 150 hours of wear... the bottom is peeling off the sole. I can glue my expensive shoes, or buy some new ones and wait/hope for a refund on these awful things. Garbage. I can not imagine hiking in something that falls apart so easily/quickly with minimal wear.

The design of the shoe has changed, and although I have worn this shoe for years, the newer model does not allow enough room for a high arch foot, although it always has previously. I can barely get my foot into the shoe, even with the laces nearly completely undone and loose, and with the top 2 laces not even in the lace eye-holes.

These are not like the old Speedgoats. The old ones were like walking on a cloud! Definitely DO NOT BUY these ones.

The tongue used to be confortable and plush, now is like a barely there flimsy piece of foam. I was also shocked how NOT waterproof these were compared to my last. They also feel oddly too snug. My old ones seemed to open up more. What a let down. Won't make the mistake of purchasing these again. Not even on sale. Its also disturbing to see Hoka try to defend themselves or shift blame here in their reply to reveiws. No accountability for cheapening their products. What a sham. What a shame. You lost a customer

This pains me to write (I never write reviews) because I love Hoka shoes. I have purchased at least $2000 worth of them and recommend them to everyone. Unfortunately, I purchased a GTX version for my husband where one of the shoes wasn't waterproof. Clearly a manufacturing issue so I filed a report with the warranty department. After reaching out several times for an update, I finally received a response that essentially Hoka does not stand behind their products and, due to this being an issue with the Gore-tex (although they didn't look at the shoe to determine this), I have to email Gore- tex directly. I bought Hoka shoes that are sold with a warranty so why are they not honoring this promise made to customers when a purchase is made? SHAME ON YOU HOKA!

This was the most painful shoe I ever owned. When I tried them on at the store, they very cushy. When I started wearing them at home and at work, the pain across the ball of my feet was excruciating. I tried breaking them in by taking short walks, but that didn't help. Unfortunately, due to my work schedule, when I tried to return them, I was told I was past the deadline. I couldn't in good conscience donate them to charity, so I threw them out and went back to Brooks.

2.5 months after buying this the shoelace eyelet broke when tightening. A second almost broke. Hoka said it wasn't covered. After repeated attempts over almost 2 months (sending and resending the shoes and terrible, inconsistent customer service) I finally was able to get my money back. I was Hoka buyer for 8 yrs. This made move on.

As a generally happy HOKA user who buys a new pair of track shoes every year, I decided to invest in the premium Speedgoat 6 GTX specifically for wet trail and meadow running, trusting the Gore-Tex name and the 'waterproof' promise. On my very first run through wet grassnot submerging them in a rivermy toes and forefoot got completely wet, while the upper ankle area remained dry. This is a clear indication of a material or construction fault in the "waterproof" membrane itself. The Problematic Warranty Response: The shoes are less than a year old, yet HOKA's warranty team flatly refused to replace them. Worse, they instructed me to take my complaint directly to Gore-Tex, the component supplier. This is an absurd breach of consumer trust and warranty responsibility. It is like a major car manufacturer telling a customer with a faulty engine to contact the piston supplierthe final product warranty lies squarely with HOKA. By pushing the responsibility onto the supplier, HOKA is dodging accountability for the integrity of the finished shoe they sell at a premium price. Conclusion & Recommendation: The Speedgoat 6 GTX fails completely at its primary purpose: keeping feet dry in wet conditions. Coupled with HOKA's refusal to honor their warranty for a material/workmanship defect, I have lost confidence in the brand's premium offerings and customer support. I strongly recommend that all current and potential HOKA customers AVOID buying any of their GTX (Gore-Tex) models. You will pay a premium for a feature that simply does not work, and the company will abandon you when the product fails. Rating: 1/5 Stars (Due to functional failure and poor customer service) Product: Speedgoat 6 GTX (Gore-Tex) Issue:Waterproofing failure and unacceptable customer service/warranty refusal.

I don't know why Hoka designers keep trying to come up with these cheesy tongue designs in shoes. They have done it repeatedly in Bondis and SGs over the years and always end up reverting to a better design the next iteration. This new tongue has zero cushion and has no play, so I couldn't even get my foot into the shoe. I have been wearing Bondis and SG GTX shoes for at least 10 years now and have always worn size 8.5. This shoe with the GTX bootie was so tight the booty tore as I was forcing my foot into it. Sadly, I returned them and bought a few pairs of the Speedgoat 5GTX shoes on a closeout site to hold me over until Hoka smartens up and reverts the design. I have hiked the whole Appalachian Trail, New England Trail and Long Trail in Hokas, most of it in prior models of SGs, but these are not cutting it.

I have 8 Hoka shoes in size 11D. This shoe is way to small in sizing as a 11 D. Not sure what to do, but it hurts my feet in the length and width. I made sure to check the label in case I got a wrong size. Beware, if you want this shoe, buy to at a store and TRY IT ON!

Do not purchase trail runners from Zappos, not unless you know they’ll fit perfectly. There is no opportunity to try out the shoes and still return or exchange them if they don’t fit. Better off going with REI, a company that actually understands how shoes work.

For the first 2 weeks they kept my feet dry but after that it was all down hill. For a pair of shoes that they advertise as "GORE-TEX's Invisible Fit waterproof membrane" they did not hold up to it. I've had shoes from other brands last months before having the same issue. Now I'm just over 3 months into owning them and they are delaminating and squeaking with every step. And the crazy part is from other reviews I've read they will not warranty them out because of water damage even though these shoes are suppose to be waterproof. Probably should not be advertising them that way if you will not honor that sales point.

They must have been mismarked. I wear a size 11. They are way to small. I wish I would have sent them back before I wore them outside. I cant wear them. I tried streching them. I wont buy this brand again.

Bought these shoes for trail running and in less than one week the shoes make squeaking noises from the sole every time you take a step. I won't be buying anymore hola shoes that's for sure.

I've been a Hoka customer for a long time and have churned through a lot of different shoes. They always fit well and are super comfortable. I always know what size to get and just order them as new shoes come out. These things were awful. They're uncharacteristically small. I wear an 11.5 wide, which is what I ordered, but they were a squeeze to get on. Further the tongue is super short and the laces actually sit directly on my socks in one area. I decided to try to run with them anyway, got just shy of two miles in, and walked back. Six hours later, my foot still hurts and I have a return WR code. As a company, Hoka is awesome and the return process so far is super simple. These shoes though? Such a disappointment from a usually stellar shop. If you do buy these, do yourself a favor and go up a half size. Oof.

I have worn a few pairs of the Speedgoats and they were all great. This one is terrible. Basically small everywhere. Wearing it was like wearing a tight rock climbing shoe. Returned.

The tongue material is too thin and short. The shoelace knot sits right at the top of the tongue and sometimes slips over and sits right on my sock. Never seen another shoes tongue poorly designed like this. Seems like a design flaw. Similar issue with the Speedgoat 5. And the heel top sticks too far up and curves backward causing debris to fall into the heel when hiking. Again, this was an issue with the SG5. Many other Hokas now have this strange 'elf shoe' heel design for some reason. Hopefully they fixed the inside material durability and quality problem me and many others have had with previous years Speedgoats. Way too expensive for what you get.

I've had 5 wonderful experiences with the Speedgoat GTX models 1-5 with thousands of miles on and off the trail and still wear my 4's! The Speedgoat 5 started the backslide with slipping quality and the Speedgoat 6 locks it in with horrible fitment. So bad that I could not even wear the shoes and had to return them. I hope your experience is better because Im looking for a new shoe to wear and its sad.

I have quite a few pairs of Hokas. I have wanted a pair of waterproof GTX shoes in wide for years. I wanted them for walking while playing golf. What has happened to Hoka? They are so cheaply made. Started failing apart after three rounds. Islets are tearing through. The tongue has no padding. The insole is so cheap. It is exactly the same width of my Hokas of the same size. Not waterproof at all. Shoelaces are weird. The only redeeming quality is the vibram sole.
