Prior to this, I had owned only two Hoka models, and I was completely satisfied with both of them. One was the Bondi, and the other was the Mafate Speed. The design of these new sneakers is closest to that of the Mafate Speed. Howeverthese exert a lot of pressure on the top of the foot. Getting them on while wearing socks is even more difficult than doing so barefoot. The laces serve a purely aesthetic purpose, as the tongue is molded integrally with the upperas is standard for waterproof footwear. Yet, in every other pair of waterproof shoes I own (from Asics, Puma, Saucony, New Balance, and Ecco), the tongue's construction allows for easy entry; either the tongue features pleated gussets (the most common design) or it is made from a stretchy material. I actually bought two different Speedgoat models at the same timeboth featuring Gore-Texbut the second pair, which includes an additional Velcro-fastened protective flap over the top, feels slightly looser across the instep; compared to these sneakers, that difference is actually a welcome relief. I'm not the type of person who likes dealing with product returns, so I suppose I'll just have to grin and bear these discomforts. As I originally planned, I'll likely give one more model of this brand's waterproof sneakers a try; if that experience proves just as poor, I'll write this brand off for good. I had a similar experience with Keen hiking boots. I bought two pairs. One pair turned out to be comfortable enough, but the sole squeaked with every single movement. Specifically, the sole itselfinternallywould generate airflow under pressure, causing every step to be accompanied by a sound eerily similar to flatulence. While one could potentially live with that particular "soundtrack" under certain circumstances, the second pair of boots turned out to be so stiff at the achilles tendon and outer ankle bone that they chafed my skin until it bled. I haven't purchased any footwear from that company since.

The Speedgoat 6 are an extremely comfortable shoe BUT the soles wore flat leaving no grip after only 45 days of 4 mile walks. I was disappointed they they wore so quickly compared to the Merrill Speed Eco and Nike ACG Air Mada.

Your Speedgoat product line is going downhill. The Speedgoat 4 Goretex was the best version and 5 was "OK", but a downgrade from 4 and 6 is the worst yet. Too Tight, Too Thin. The colors with the splotches I also do not like compared to the previous solid colors. I actually, for the first time in 5 years, have bought a pair of Solomons and may go back to that brand for now.

Recently hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim and loved the traction and support, but the GTX led to poor breathability and multiple blisters. Hindsight I wish I stayed with the standard Speedgoat for that length of hike. I will use the GTX only for shorter, wetter, hikes in the future.

These are not the Speedgoat of old. Right off the bat these are a stiffer shoe , not the pillowy soft like before. Within the first week of having them, I developed a hot spot. Wearing a bandaid solves the problem. These are the 4th pair that I have owned, have never experienced that before. For the price...don't know if I would purchase again. Also, kind of hard to step into because of the stiffness. I hike daily.

The shoes are comfy, the tongue is definitely too short. Should be an easy design fix.

These run about 1/2 size small. The tongue is too short. They're too stiff without enough padding underfoot. Finally, they're overpriced. I kept them because I can't find anything better in a wide trail runner, as many popular brands don't come in wide width.

Over all not that comfy. I like the durability of the vibrum sole, but not on a running shoe, to stiff.

These are too tight and I have had two older Speedgoat shoes that fit great.
I need to return these even though I have had the same size in the past.

I have two pair of your waking shoes that I am totally happy with! I made the mistake off thinking I would get the same comfort in your hiking shoe. What a disappointment!!! I bought the same size in all three pair of shoes. When put to the test of a trail ,the hiking shoes rub the top of my instep and the second toe, next to my big toe and middle toe.

I have bought Hokas for a few years. Maybe 6 pairs at 12D. These were way too small.

Tried 2 different sizes of this shoe and both sizes were very tight. This is one of the problems ordering online.

I wear a wide shoe and this wide is not properly sized. Thought maybe it just needed time to break in. I was wrong. Sensitive feet took days to come back to normal.

I absolutely loved these shoes at the beginning! I bought them 2/25 of this year and the Vibram bottoms started drastically wearing out in the first few months. I tried to exchange them and I was told it was "normal wear and tear." I disagree. Very disappointed with Customer Service!

This is my third pair of Hoka's and somewhat of a disappointment. They don't feel much like a Hoka. I'm going to have to buy something with better cushioning to protect my knees while running.

To small an opening to insert foot. Tongue needs to be an inch longer. Once on it is very comfortable. Have used very seldom, they just sit in my closet because of the effort to get them on. Should have sent them back.

Typically I am a 13 but these run so small I tried a 14. !4 was too big. I have noticed other modles that have also shrunk a bit. But , not all all the models.

If you have a high instep this shoe has the tongue attached to the side almost to the top of the laces. I guess as part of the water proofing? I was barely able to get my foot in the shoe.

The gusset tongue is not for the people like me. Speedgoat 5 with the loose tongue worked just fine for me, but with speedgoat 6gtx that is sewn in- I can't get my foot in it without significant force. I have 9D mens size and I am going to cut the tongue gusset. Would fit just fine without that sewn tongue.

LOVED the Speedgoat 5, so I bought the SG 6. Feels totally different and not in a good way. Too narrow. Materials seem....cheap.
