Because I have had Birkenstocks before, I didn't think the wearing-in time would be long, but I was very wrong with these sandals. The material is very stiff and even though I lined the insides with moleskin to eliminate the rubbing and wearing them around the house with socks on, they still are uncomfortable. Very disappointed! Should have sent them back right away.

I own a number of Birk sandals. Normally, I would give a 5-Star review, in this case 2 stars is a bit generous. This particular pair did not fit like any of my other pairs--I've lived in Birks for more than 40 years. The footbed was the same as my other pairs; but, the straps were shorter. Having a wide foot, the straps were not long enough to even be buckled. Unfortunately; as much as I liked their appearance (I have an oiled leather pair in brown), be warned if your foot is wide. Not sure if this lot or pair, is just an anomoly.

These fit poorly - too long, too wide, could not adjust straps for better fit. I have a pair of Birkenstocks (Gizehs) in the same size (41) and they fit perfectly, not sure why these didn't work - maybe because it's a unisex style? The color was very nice, though.

I've had these for a while and had hoped some initial issues would go away, but nope! The particular color and material of the shoes I bought rub off on my feet. After a day of wearing these, my feet are black. They also rub against my feet in an irritating way and I've ended up with blisters around where the top of the sandal meets the side. I'm sure they will last forever and be uncomfortable forever too.

Fit and sizing is classic Birkenstock, and the soft footbed allows for perfect out-of-the-box comfort. The leather is gorgeous: a beautiful dark brown with a reddish overtone, which I think will age beautifully. My only issue (and the reason I'm returning) is the edge of the strap over the toes is so stiff and sharp that it digs into my toes when I walk. It's borderline unbearable. If I were standing still it would be fine, but I plan to walk while wearing these. :) Sadly returning.

My first pair of Birks and I wanted to love them but the color was too dark for me. Also the weathered look was really weathered on one sandal and not the other. The fit was just okay. Maybe I needed it to break them in. Unfortunately they are going back.

Although these are listed as "leather" they are very stiff and cut into my foot. The footbed is great but the leather portion is not comfortable.

Loved everything about them accept they came scratched. Exchanging for a new pair.

Took forever to break in, I’m not a fan!

I was hoping Birks with a soft footbed would fill my bill for arch support, but no. In fact, I can't understand why they advertise these as soft footbeds!

The fit was good however the toe strap across the toe was very stiff and hurt so I am returning them. I bought way too many pairs of shoes that I hoped would soften and stop hurting.

I really wanted to like it, but the leather is too stiff and dug into my 4th and 5th toes. This is my first pair of Birks. Zappos and their amazing customer service is willing to exchange them for me. I’m going to try the suede and hope for a more comfortable shoe! I don’t want blisters for $135. ??

Bought these, Birkenstock Arizona Soft Footbed - Leather (Unisex), Mar.23, 2016. I have loved these shoes--wear them A LOT in the summer--as my main shoes--VERY COMFORTABLE. They were great until this summer, I noticed that both shoes have developed cracks in the cork foot bed right on either side of the foot just in front of the strap nearest the toes. I was under the impression, from reading other reviews prior to my purchase, that Birkenstocks held up really well through "YEARS" of wear. Apparently this isn't so. I'm very upset, as I think, for the price, they should last longer!!!!! :[

I am probably the only person on earth that regrets purchasing these. I think the hype convinced me to keep them. I hoped they would become more comfortable if I broke them in. The size up is too big and the size down, which I kept, cuts the four toes off on my foot. They have such a severe angle toward the smaller toes. I am now convinced I cannot fit into a Birkenstock shoe with any comfort. Wasted money here.

As mentioned in many of the lower rating reviews, the top straps started to cut into my toes on both feet regardless of whether I made them loose or tight. I've already worn them around, so no returning. These suckers hurt, and I'm not totally sure it's possible to break these in without murdering the tops of my toes

I ordered this shoe in both black and tan leather, and like all my soft footbed Birks, the footbed is so comfortable. However, the leather top on these is torture. It was painful just trying on. I'm sending them back. The leather is really hard and the edges are sharp. I'm sure they could be broken in, but I don't feel like shredding my feet over it. Size wise, I wear an 8.5 (a little on the wide side) and I ordered 39 Narrows, and they fit great with plenty of width and without looking too wide.

Little support. Very stiff leather. Had neither problem with this style the last time I owned them. As for style, it is in the eye of the beholder.

I called before I placed my order because I was worried about the color of the patterns. I was told that this would be a good idea of what they look like. I received them today and was very disappointed. They are almost entirely orange with almost no other colors to them. The picture is very deceptive! Sad that they will be going back!

Like all Birkenstocks, the arch support is too high and too big (in area). I like the looks of this sandal, but I wish I could get a pair of Clarks with the perfect arch support and toe bar....unfortunately they no longer make them.

People should be told that the soft footbed does not have the same strong arch support as regular Birkenstock's. By the time I realized this, it was too late to return them.

No way, never again! I can not see how anyone considers these sandals outstanding footwear. In fact, they are the most uncomfortable apparel I have ever put on my body. These are not for long-term wear, only very casual short-term wear such as a walk around the block, casual gardening or a short trip to the park or mall. I made the mistake of wearing these to an all day outdoor festival. I have worn sandals in this way before without much of a problem, but by the end of the day I had water blisters on my feet and the straps were severely irritating the tops of my feet. There is this horrible high arch in the center mid section of the sandal that is just very uncomfortable. My guess is this part of the sandal would be better off made a different material which is more flexible than the surrounding soul.\r\n\r\nThe positive is that they look really nice and are okay for short term use, but at this price, one would certainly expect much more comfort from the sandal and much for usability. I will be keeping the sandals for short walks and short trips to the grocery store, but I really can not recommend them at this price.
