I started wearing the Topo Ultrventure Pro in 2022 during my PCT thruhike. I started with the Altra Lone Peak shoe, and loved the no blister light weight option. But, the lack of Altra Lone Peak support was an issue, with knee pain and back pain resulting. The Topo Ultraventure Pro immediately solved my lower back and knee pains. That was unexpected. The blisters were a huge drag though. This was a heavier shoe than any shoe I have ever worn, so I was worried about how this shoe would perform long term. The Topo Ultraventure Pro was perfect for my thruhike. It helped my body handle the weight on my back and the terraine. When I purchased this shoe on trail, I bought 6 1/2 - it was too large and created blisters. I bought a size 6 and it was truly a perfect fit, even on trail. My shoe size was previously 5-5 1/2 depending on the shoe. The Topo Ultraventure Pro is no longer available so I took the chance and purchased the Traverse. I love this Traverse. The fit and function so far has been perfect. No knee or back pain. I find I can run and train with this shoe without my back pack with a lot of comfort. This has become my go to multi functional shoe- I wear it all day, while training - running and walking with & without a backpack, on soft & hard surfaces, variety of terraines (paths, streets, stairs, mountainous), while on flat or inclined elevations. What a plus. So far, so very happy. No blisters, either. We will see how it performs on a multi day backpacking journey, with a heavy load, in the Sierra. As a trail runner and street runner, the Solomon was my shoe of choice, and the Altra lone peaks held strong on the trail, but, after wearing Topo UltraVenture pro and now the Traverse with their larger toe boxes, excellent insole support, with added rock plate support, the Altra Lone Peak and Solomon shoes have been placed in the back of my closet on the shelf. Shoe choices are a very personal choice. This shoe just happened to check all my boxes, and offer even more by providing multi functional capabilities resulting in one shoe vs 3 separate shoes needed for my adventures.

if you have a low volume foot & many of the wider toe-box shoes don't fit - THESE WILL !! They've truly made my feet feel healthier, stronger.

I mainly use this pair of shoes for walking and some hiking. I find the wide toe box to be very comfortable, and I like the fit of the heel. My problem with them is the recent formation of a hole in the heel area liner. I really believe this shouldn't have occurred. The shoes are not heavily used, and they are not yet a year old (purchased Nov. 2023). I think subpar fabric was chosen. The shoes cost enough that quality fabrics should have been used throughout.

I bought these to use for a 10-day trek on the Trans-Caucasian trail. I wore them to work (indoors) for about 3 weeks with several days of light trail use (2 miles on a dirt path) mixed in as break-in. Before getting a proper hike in, a hole formed in the fabric on the inner edge of the R shoe near the ankle lock hole. I'm told by Topo that this is due to a gait issue, not a manufacturing defect. I accept that, but wonder why this has never happened on another pair of shoes. Major design flaw!

These might be the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever worn! There was no break-in period and I had no pain after a several mile hike right out of the box. They are really secure though the sole and midfoot and wide enough in the toe box so your toes can wiggle but not so wide that your toes over-splay resulting in toe-gripping. They do feel ever so slightly too tight through my midfoot but I have a wide foot anyway and I think it'll loosen with time. So comfy and feel very durable too!

Love the roomy toe box and you now have my size in women's. They really are waterproof can trudge through the wet grass and no wet feet. Super comfortable all day around the yard.

I wore these for 232 miles on the Colorado Trail and I will never use another shoe for my hiking/backpacking again. Before trying Topo I was an avid boot wearer, I had tried sooo many different brand trail runners and none of them worked for me. I had heard about Topos for a while on my favorite podcast, so I tried the Traverses and immediately fell in love. The rock plate ensured that I didn't feel every single rock and root underneath my feet, the toe box allows my feet/toes to splay like they naturally would, I didn't get a single blister on trail and the tread grip is phenomenal, even on wet rocks. The Traverses lasted my whole 20 days on trail plus a few multi day trips prior breaking them in, the shoes are completely intact and I could still probably wear them for another 100 miles. I cannot recommend these shoes enough!

I am a backpacker and have always been a fan of Topo shoes for road shoes, I have been trying to find a pair suitable for backpacking as well. The ultraventures were a bit too stiff and had too much cushion for my liking and they just didn't fit the best for my feet. Next I tried the terraventure 3s, they were better but on rocky terrain with my heavy pack I didn't have as much support as I'd like for longer treks. What I really wanted was something in between, the Traverse is perfect for me, a moderate amount of cushioning but enough stiffness so my feet don't get fatigued as quickly, and also personally I appreciate the extra stiffness on rocky terrain and always the low drop. These are perfect for backpackers and through hikers, please never discontinue them :)

I've had two pairs of Topo boots, which I loved and were comfortable for many hundreds of miles. I was excited to try the Traverse shoes. What a mistake. Yes, they are comfortable. But the foam on the sale can't stand any kind of rocky trail, and like other customers have posted, the collar around the ankle is already frayed and coming apart. I was planning on doing a three hundred mile hike with these shoes and am incredibly disappointed.

I have flat feet and wide toes... any other shoes before this one aggravated any tendinitis in my ankles and knees. This shoe has helped me stabilize and recover while getting moving again. I use it for everyday activities, not just outside!

I bought this shoe for hiking, and have been breaking them in this week. I normally wear men's Topos, bc they are wider in the toe box, but I took a chance on a women's wide. They fit perfectly. Snug where I want support, room for the toes, and no slipping. The cushion is the perfect amount. The grip is fantastic. Everything I wanted.

I bought these for the Camino del Santiago this summer. I've worn them a couple times as I start to train and love them! The toe box is wide and comfortable, the grip on the sole is great, even in Boston's slush and ice, and my feet don't hurt after walking 8 miles on back to back days. Can't wait to wear them this summer. Can't speak to how they'll hold up or feel on my 500 mile walk but I feel confident that they'll be a great shoe. #sweepstakes

These are my go to backpacking shoes. Stand up to the wear and tear of a rocky trail giving good ground feel and protection from rough terrain. Reach for them every time I hit the trails. #sweepstakes

I really like these shoes for hiking. Good grip, good cushion without being too much cushion, and tough enough for Arizona trails. My only complaint is that the tongue is not long enough (size 8 women). When my foot flexes, the tongue of the shoe stabs me where my foot bends. My husband has the men's version, and the tongues on his shoes are longer. The tongue needs to be longer or softer, then they would be near perfect.

I was a big fan of that other wide toe box shoe for long distance hiking. But they sold out and wrecked an entire season of hiking. Now I'm back on track with Topos, going on my third pair and into 1,000+ miles. No ankle pain. No blisters that don't heal. No worn down tread after 200 miles (I got about 300 miles of good tread on the AZT, a trail known for chewing up shoes). Please don't sell out, Topos! Stay good. #sweepstakes

Best shoe for trail walking. Comfortable to wear all day

I love my Topos traverse. I have been training in them the past year in preparation to hike the PCT. I love the roomy toe box but the normal/narrow foot bed (in most shoes with the wider toe-box the footbed is too wide for me). They are sturdy and supportive without being too "squishy." I love the grip on the tread. I've worn Traverse on hundreds of miles of trails - I've cleaned think mud out of them, walked through water, brush, snowthey were easy to clean and dry quickly after being wet. Looking forward to whenever the next gen comes out (I was told maybe next October) and they have Velcro on the heel for my gaiters - for now I'm gluing them on which seems to work fine.

I have purchased this pair of shoes several times now. It is sturdy, supportive and great for very long walks, which is why I bought them. I would highly recommend them. #sweepstakes

Really love these for walking, especially in the winter. they are very cushy but also solid so my foot feels very grounded.

I am just getting back into exercising. I have bunions and wide feet and these shoes are perfect. I am walking on unpaved areas and they provide enough support.
