Too much plastic and not enough padding around the ankle .

I bought the Speedgoat 5 last year. I bought them because they had the vibram sole. Wore for approx. 5 months, a few times a week, but not constantly. Primarily on dirt paths and around the neighborhood walking the dog and light hikes.. Less than 100k on them. Put them away for the winter in October not noticing the tread wear. This spring I noticed the lugs on the tread were completely worn flat in spots. Upper was in perfect condition. Since it was still within a year, I did a warranty claim. They had me send them in for review.. I find this process bizarre since I took detailed and good quality pictures. After their review, they determined they didn't qualify and were sending them back to me. They sent to I correct address and were returned to sender. When this happens the shoes go to a warehouse where they are destroyed, and customer service has no way of getting them back. Because this was their mistake, they gave me a full refund to my credit card. This was a time- consuming laborious process and it's probably to discourage warranty claims. This being says I had good luck with a previous purchase that lasted for years- Torrent model not Speedgoat. I have moved into another brand. I will think twice before buying Hoka again.

this was my 4th pair of speedboats, but the first version 6. hard on the feet, here I am the next morn with still some bilateral outer foot numbness (not something I've ever had). no comfort to be had in these shoes. and unfortunately, didn't buy from REI and can't return. Really maddening to have spent the money, on a previously reliable trail running shoe, and to have trashed feet and be out that amount of $$.

I had been a loyal speedgoat 5 lover for 4 rounds, but switched to the 6 when I was noticing that the upper was falling apart quickly. The speedgoat 6's were stiff out of the box which seemed like a good sign but even after 290 miles in them they haven't broken in to the point where they are comfortable. I really tried to like these but going to need to switch to something else!

After falling in love with your Speedgoat 5 mid trail shoes, I was excited to order the low trail runners, but unfortunately, the Speedgoat 5s are sold out. Even though the reviews for Speedgoat 6 were concerning, I was hoping the other reviewers were being too harsh. Unfortunately, they were not. The Speedgoat 6 does not fit the same comfortably way and something in the arch support is throwing my foot completely off. I was even willing to overlook the awful colors of these in order to get a comfortable hiking shoe, but the Speedgoat 6 strikes out on both comfort and appearance. Please bring back the Speedgoat 5!!

I loved Hoka Speedgoat 5 - roomy toe box, great traction, all around perfect shoe. It seems they've changed the toe box and made it smaller. I ordered 2 pairs because I thought maybe my first pair was just "a lemon". No. Both pairs fit the same. I wanted to love them so much but my toes weren't comfortable and I had to return both pairs. Not sure if it's the stiff fabric or just a smaller toe box.

What I don't like about it is they made the toe box wider and less cushion, if any and the have hard edges around the ankle bone. I have sensitive ankles because of being in ski boots all the time..

when they changed the model, they made the heel too deep. The rim of the shoe now rubs against my ankle and my Achilles tendon. The shoe was barely wearable. I had several pairs of speed goat 5, and they were always perfect right out of the box.

I buy Hokas on my podiatrist's recommendation, and my Speedgoat 4 and 5's were so cushiony I felt I had pillows on my feet, and the neutral footbed is great. Not so with the Speedgoat 6! The hard sole is instantly painful. I've worn these indoors for a few days, hoping the comfort would improve, but not so. Back they go! Please bring back the cushiony sole. Any other comfortable recommendations for hiking and scrambling?

This is the second pair of Speedgoat Hoka's I've purchased. They both started wearing out behind the heel within about 4 months and by about 6 months they were giving me blisters. I though the first pair was a fluke so I bought another pair, because they are so comfy, but for the price, they don't last and I will not buy Hokas again. I tried their warranty thinking it was a no brainer and was denied because they said it was due to normal wear and tear. I'm sorry, but I am not even running in these and no shoe should wear through in the first few months with light-moderate use. Total bummer :(

I love HOKA shoes; have several pairs, but the Speedgoat 6 is sadly uncomfortable! Like other reviews, the 5 version was much better! The shoe lacks cushion, poor support around the ankles, tongue too flat and short. Okay for flat surfaces, but any rocky angles, my ankles would role slightly. After a 3.5 mile hike my feet and knees hurt! Sending these back!

I've been wearing Speedgoats since the 2. I still have a pair of 2's that I pull out rarely and still love. The 3's were good. The Evo's were my all time favorites. The 4's were horribly stiff. The 5's were good, but the midsole deadened out really quickly. At first I really liked the 6's, except that they have gotten substantially wider in the toe box since the 2's. If they go any wider, I'll have to find a new shoe. So I was already dealing with the shoe being a bit sloppier in the forefoot than I wanted. I bought 2 pairs of the 6's then pretty soon after had to take substantial time off from running due to a knee injury. Now that I'm back walking again in them, both pairs have blown out at the medial side of the toe box. Neither of these pairs have more than 100 miles on them and most of it walking. My son, who also got a pair for trail running, had the same issue in less than 50 miles. Please redo this upper ASAP!!! (And please reduce the width just a smidge.) Or just bring back the EVO.

I've had 3 pairs of Speedgoats in the past that were very comfortable and had good cushioning. I don't like the revised models, they are too stiff and not enough cushioning in the sole. I've had these shoes almost 2 1/2 months.

I have loved Speedgoats for the past 10 years but the Speedgoat 6 model greatly disappoints. I would not advise buying them if you have loved previous models.

I thought these were going to be the perfect black sneakers. Everyone I showed the pic to thought they were black, but when they came they were more gray with a purplish color. I was anxiously awaiting these because I liked that they were black with gray bottoms instead of all black or black with white bottoms. The color name didn't help at all. I wish they would have looked like the picture, but unfortunately they did not and I had to return them

These were just too big. I went with my suggested size, which is a full size larger than my normal size. Overall it was just an odd fit, and not comfortable.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka, Merrel

One shoe was significantly tighter than the other across the toe box. I measured and I think this is a manufacturing defect. It was only noticeable after wearing for a longer period of time.

As a hiking tour company owner, I have been hiking in Hokas since about 2016 and have owned every edition since then and around a dozen pairs. I have recommended them repeatedly for years to clients and on social media. I have worn the 6 now for enough hikes that they should be broken in but they still hurt. From the start they felt more stiff than any previous Hoka upon just trying on. The tongue doesn't come up as high and isnt as padded and protective from the laces. The sides hit and rub under my ankle bone which has never been an issue before. I don't feel quite as stable in them for some reason. They just overall are not as comfortable as previous models and I can't recommend them. I'm willing to see what other companies have developed which I hadn't even considered the past 7 years. I hope the 7 goes back to the comfort of the editions made 2017-2019 when I could hike 80 miles in 5 days in comfort.

What is going on with the colors of the women's trail running line??? It's impossible to find a nice colorway. These all look like men's. I love my Mach 6, Clifton, but wanted to replace my Torrent for a long time and I can't find a colorway that I can look at it for longer than 2 seconds without giving me eyesore. We want neutrals, black upper on light midsole and feminine colorways! Thank you.

I've been using the Speedgoat since version 2, skipping the year of the slicing tongue, loved the 5s. The 6s are a complete overhaul and it's not a good change. Most important is sizing changed, I was a 7.5 in previous Speedgoats, so that's what I ordered, they are too short. I should have gotten an 8, my toes hurt. Second, the tongue, why do you always change the tongue? Now it has an elevated/thickness right where you would tie the shoe, then the tie will slip unless you tie it very tight, then it feels like you are bruising the top of your foot while running. I don't understand the purpose of this change. I ordered Gull/Stormy skies color, it's interesting, wouldn't have selected if I saw it in person, I think it has snowflakes. Some positives: I like the heel cup, if feels more fitted, less pebbles are getting in my shoe. The improved grippiness of the soles are good. They are grippy. I'm really bummed with the changes and in the market for some new trail shoes.I think I waited too long to return so will probably have to sell them, unfortunately.

This speedgoat 6 with the white Vibram sole is very noisy- like velcro. I have other pairs in the speedgoat 5 with different color in the same Vibram sole that are quite when you walk. Was disappointed as liked the grey color of the shoe.

Very disappointed in this iteration of the Speedgoat. I have loved previous models and was always pleased. The tongue in this shoe is both too short and too thin. It is almost impossible to put the shoe on because it requires pulling, tugging and searching for the tongue to get it in place as I'm trying to fit my foot in. It is so frustrating. Once on ,the shoe is much less comfortable than previous styles. It creates hot spots and pressure points.
