This shoe is outstanding. I am 6'0", 185#, 62 YO, 9:30 pace. I am 75 miles into these shoes and run 15-20 miles per week. They are outstanding for comfort. My legs feel great after running and I do not have any pain. While these shoes are heavy in weight, they do not run heavy. With the carbon plate, they run light and fast. I am :30 faster per mile than my Clifton 9s. I was a little concerned about toe box space based on other reviews, but I have plenty of room and they fit like a Clifton. A spot on my heels are wearing off fast, but this spot wore off fast on my Cliftons too. For the price of Skyward X, I would expect more. Other than this, they are a 5 star shoe.

While the lower rubber sole of the shoe is bouncy and comfortable, the upper portion does not provide adequate support. Returned and replaced it with the more stable Bondi 9.

I ended up ordering two pairs, since I never received my first pair, and HOKA has yet to work with me about the refund/return. However, I needed a shoe that wasn't about setting a PR but was about getting miles in for marathon prep and marathon day. The comfort is top notch. I noticed some worried about ankle support, and that is true if you have weak ankles or plan on taking sharp turns; however, in most 5ks to even ultras, you don't have sharp turns. The only issue I find with this is that the tongue sits very high into the ankle, so I ended up getting higher socks to prevent any friction points on the skin. The toe box feels similar in width to a Clifton series.

I bought this shoe and completed my first running for 10k. Everything seemed great except for 2 issues. 1. Stability is not good. I was going to trip/ankle twist couple of times during turnings. This can be at least manged if you carefully run. 2. Right after running, I felt really bad pain on the outer feet in only my right feet. I could not walk on my right foot until I put ice and then did some ball rolling on the outer side of my right foot. I researched and did loosen up the lace on the right shoe, but still I feel that the right shoe is tight on the mid foot and constantly squeezing my outer side of the right foot. The left shoe seem to be good and no pain. I believe this specific shoes may be the defective pair, so returning this and going to buy another pair of the same size and color. The exchange option will take more time to get the shoes and my race day is nearing, so choosing this option. I would not suggest this shoe for those who have wide feet. For medium width feet, this must be still great. The only reason took off 2 stars is because of the narrow size of the shoe and does not offer wide width styles. If my new pair of same shoes are going to give the same issues, then I am going to update my review to 1 star.

I was really looking forward to running in the Skyward X. When I finally received them I was amazed at just how tall they were. They take maximal to new heights, almost cartoonish to be completely honest. I took them on several runs from shorter recovery runs to long distance runs of 30K, 22 and 24 miles. These shoes felt stiff underfoot. I was expecting for cloud like cushioning with that tall stack height but it didn't feel soft at all. Initially I thought maybe it they just needed to be broken in, but after a 100 miles they didn't soften up much. On longer runs they left my feet feeling tender to painful that other carbon plated super trainers never feel. (For reference I train in the NB FC SC Trainers v2 & v3 as well as the NB FC SC Pacers v2 for speed work and shorter races). These do feel better for walking and I retired these to walking shoe status, as they simply did not work for my runs. The Mach X 2 are a much better running shoe and highly recommend those for those looking for a HOKA Super Trainer.

was hoping to have a similar positive experience with these shoes. However, there's just something off in the mid-foot. Definitely feeling pressure on my fifth metatarsals which I never have before. They almost feel too narrow along the midfoot. Plenty of room in the toe box, but it's just a very different fit for a different type of foot. Beware

I love the shoe. I have 3 pair of them. However, my first pair bottom rubber cut up within 30 days. I attempted to return them to Chicago mag Mile store but they were closed for renovations. I hope Hoka will replace them or credit my account. I have more than 20 pair of Hokas..they are all great shoes.

I own quite a few pairs of Hokas. I thought I would give these a try so I could use it for recovery runs, tempo runs or even longer runs. After about 20 miles on these, I decided to give up on them. I have noticeable arch pain on my right foot while running in them. I will be returning them and going with another shoe.

The skyward x's were very comfortable. However, they absorbed all the energy of the foot strike and would not return energy to the push off so I sent them back. I bought. Mach x's and they are incredible!

The shoe was well-built. Extremely comfortable and cushioning. Due to their height they looked too feminine and not enough masculine. The color was OK but it adds to the feminine substance. Also the shoe was not wide enough.

I'm a Hoka fan as I currently have 8 pairs. However, this is my first AND LAST purchase of this style as in my opinion they are not worth the money AT ALL!!! I'm not impressed!!! My husband purchased a pair at the same time, and as me he IS NOT impressed either. He too is a Hoka fan as he currently has 6 pairs. Hoka you failed 2 of your fans with this OVERPRICED style!!!!!

very cushiony and firm but way too narrow. needs to come in wide and extra wide. Seems Bondi shoes no longer have accommodative fit especially for those who need custom orthotics

Compared to other Hoka products, the toe box is roomier. But these need a little more room.

I am a true Hoka devotee going back to the original Vanquish and Carbon X when I could run distances. Several foot surgeries later I have been wearing Bondi exclusively. The Bondi 9 is wonderfully comfortable but I felt less stable on certain terrain so I thought the Skyward X with the plush comfort of the Bondi and a carbon fiber plate would be the answer to my prayer. When I put them on the left shoe was perfect but the right shoe was defective. My right foot was rolled to the right and very uncomfortable. I never experienced this kind of problem in any of the 12 pairs of Hoka that I own. I returned them and now use the Stinson 7 when I want comfort, albeit less than the Bondi, and good stability particularly on uneven surfaces. I am hoping that was a one-time manufacturing problem and not indicative of a change in Hoka quality, especially at that price.

For the price I expected better. They hollowed out too much from the bottom center so it feels like you are on double thin rails. The shoe was also at least one size too big a better option is the Elevon model, unfortunately that one only comes in black. Hey Hoka, how about doing some more color ways for the Elevon?
