This is my fourth pair of Altra's and I am very disappointed. Wore them everyday for less than 2 months. The inside heel completely wore away exposing a sharp peice of plastic. Cut my heel open and I was no longer able to wear them.

I've been trail running in Timps for a couple of years now and was thrilled to finally find a shoe that was wide in the toe box, with good support, and the right amount of cushioning. It was time for a new pair so I ordered the Timp 5 and like many other reviewers have noted, they aren't even close to the same shoe anymore. The wide toe box is gone and they are now narrow from the arches to the toes. I wanted so much for them to work out and took them for three easy runs and they pinched and hurt the whole time. I even tried wearing them as "everyday shoes" through the airport and had to take them off on the plane because of the pain and pressure. Really disappointed and bummed. I returned them. I never write reviews but I'm leaving this in hopes that Altra goes back to their roots as a true wide toe box and remedies this; I'd love to come back to the brand.

Took these out for a few runs and got crazy hot spots on the toes and achilles. My toes had barely any room to move, the top feels stiff and tight causing my toes to rub and my nails beds left sore from hitting the top of the shoe. Please go back to a roomier toe box, I've been running solely in Altra for 6 years now and these feel tight like a Solomon. I had to go back to using Lonepeaks.

The Timp 4 was as near perfection as a shoe can be. I've been an Altra faithful for many years and this shoe was amazing! The toe area was nice a wide and it was comfy. I wore them in a 22-mile trail race in the desert in a tough race, dealing with lots of elevation and rocks, not one hot spot or blister! My feet were barely tired! Compare that to the Timp 5 - The toe back is narrower!! WHY????? One of the main reasons I chose this shoe is the WIDE toe box. I don't need a wide shoe over all, I needed the toe area wide. I wore them on an 8-mile trail run and have 5 hot spots and a blister. This is a terrible update. Whoever destroyed this shoe with the updates, well, they probably shouldn't be doing what they're doing. Needless to say, I'm not buying another Altra shoe and have since switched to Topos.

I have been wearing Timps for years and this is the worst version yet. It feels like the midsole forces my foot to roll inward. The toe box also rubs my big toe on the side where that has never been an issue in the past. I was so excited for the Vibram sole - but this shoe was a huge disappointment.

I have worn these sneakers for years. Now, something has changed. Something on the upper part of these sneakers are digging into my foot. Terrible pain. I had returned the size 10s and ordered two pair of the size 10 1/2 and now I am stuck with them.

I have been trail running in Timps for 5 years+ always loved the shoe. Excited about addition of vibram rubber so I got the updated version. Would not recommend to anyone. Toe box rubs weird now causing blisters on blisters. Previously could go 15 miles no problem no other changes. Time to find a different running shoe.

I've been using Altras for years because of their wide toe box and comfort on first outing. These are horrible! Nothing like my previous Altras. I was hoping they'd stretch out a bit but I couldn't wear them long enough before I had to rip them off because of the pain. Waste of money and so disappointing.

Used them to hike one hike in late summer and the lining at the ankle started deteriorating on both shoes. I've had altras before but never had such a quality issue.

First big hike up Timpanogos (shoes namesake), I came down with holes on the ankle fabric, and the side adhesive lining peeling. My Merrill hikers lived for 6 years before those signs showed up..Altras? 2 months

I had some Timp 4s, and I liked them OK. I thought the Timp 5 felt really good ... until I ran in them. I had to turn around because as soon as I headed up a steep hill, the tongue created hot spots on three different parts of my foot. I tried relacing the shoes multiple times, but it didn't help. Really disappointed. Seems like people really like this shoe, but it didn't work for me. I would like Altra to go back to the low profile tongue.

I like this shoe and how it fits my foot, but this shoe DESTROYS my ankle. It's cut slightly too high and irritates the malleous of the ankle and peroneal tendons. Previous timp did not do this

Last year I purchased my first pair of Altras with the Timp 4. I loved these shoes. I have a borderline wide foot but usually fit in the medium width without problem. Since the 4s were really "foot shaped" they worked well for me. I loved the cushion it provided along with the zero drop. When these wore out I went and tried on the Timp 5 and much to my dismay they were not the same shoe at all. They are much narrower and not really foot shaped anymore. I tried to go up a size hoping that might work but then the show was most too long and sloppy for my foot. I see others saying that this model is narrower too so I know it's not just me. I hope Altra goes back to their previous foot shaped width shoe.

I love my Timp 4s, so much so that they're almost worn through! So when I saw the Timp 5s I thought it was a no-brainer, but these are such a disappointment . The toe box is significantly smaller than my Timp 4s, so much so that my pinky toes feel sore after wearing for too long. The laces are way too short, especially if you want to lace them up all the way, which I do feel the need to. I don't with my Timp 4s. If this is the new way this style will be constructed, I will not be purchasing again.

I'm really disappointed in the Timp 5's. For some unknown reason, Altra decided to make these more narrow than the Timp 4'a. For a company that markets itself as having "foot shaped" shoes, this redesign baffles me. I've worn previous versions of the Timps without issue. Attached are photos showing blisters where I've never had them before- at the widest part of my big toe. Another photo is of my little toe - blackened from rubbing against the narrow toe box of the Timp 5's. I will likely lose this toe nail. I've never lost a little toe nail before. Why Altra??? Why? If you are going to market your shoes as "foot shaped" they shouldn't be causing people to lose toe nails from the narrow footbox. Less important bits: Also - the shoe laces were weirdly too short. The Timp 4's were perhaps slight too long. Maybe compromise on a length between the two??? The loop on the heel is too small to put a finger through, rendering it useless to help pull on the shoe. Either make the loop big enough to be used, or don't add one. On the positive: the heel is well constructed. The cloth lining is a bit more durable than the Timp 4's.

I had a pair of TIMP 4's that lasted for 9 months on many hiking miles and they were great. Got these and my pinkie toe and 4th toe on both feet have blisters from the Toe Box on the TIMP 5's. I am very disappointed in the change and narrowing of the Toe Box. After 12 days and 7 attempts to hike with them, I have given up and will have to trash these and move on to something else.

Way too narrow and too small, whole shoe! Please make this model with an original natural foot shape shoe option that made Altra an Altra or please make the Lone Peak with the vibram lugs and an option for original or some extra cushion for trail runs in the ultra distances. This is the gap needed to be filled

C'mon dudes it's time to fire your designer. You took the best shoe ever and made into a completely sadistic instrument of torture by making rigid, stiff stitching rub the entire length of the tongue from the top to the base of the shoe. This causes immense pain and is ENTIRELY without purpose or function. Altra, we rely on you for our health and performance and many people like me need this exact model to deal with pain from old injuries. I can't run in anything but Altras and for no good reason at all you wasted my time on this model and now put me in the position of having to buy back up pairs of the previous model which you know has severe durability problems. Quit dorking around with shoe design jobs programs internally and make this same shoe without the painful tongue that NO OTHER COMPANY has ever shipped with a design anything like this torture trap. You better not screw up the next model we are counting on you and many of us have been with you for a decade and deserve some quality control and reliability.

I was so excited to see that they added vibram to my favorite trail shoes, but OMFG these are awful. They are stiffer than previous timps, butt the real problem is the toe box. I am not honestly sure what is happening like is it a seam in there or just the shape or both issues maybe? The toe box is more smaller horizontally and vertically. It is rubbing and blistering all of my toes on the tops and also the side of the big toe and also the side of the little toe. I guess the grip is better but these are so different and so painful.

They are very comfortable but I'm so not impressed with the quality. Rubber piece around the toes started peeling off on a first hike when I walk through a few snow patches on a very sunny day, didn't even get my feet wet bit shoes already started giving up on me. It's very expensive if they last only a few hikes.

Why fix something that isn't broken, Atlra?!?? I have been wearing Timps since 2020 and they have been my favorite shoe since the moment I put them on. The Timp 5s are short and narrow. No matter how often I loosened my laces, the pressure from the tongue was excruciating. I have never lost a toe nail and am about to lose at least 4, not including the 2 toes that are potentially broken from stubbing them on a rock while the toes were smooshed up against the top. This is the worst Altra shoe I've ever ran in. I'm so upset.

I have worn Altras for years, (Many different trail and road models) and I have absolutely loved them. I do a lot of running both road and trail in Bozeman, MT. Just bought and tried out new versions of the Timp (and the Torin) and they are WAY too narrow. Even the men's version is too narrow. Why did you get rid of the wide toe box?? And why do you not offer a wide version if you did start to offer a more narrow shoe? One of the things your company did best was offer a wide toe box with a zero drop shoe. I will unfortunately have to look for a new shoe brand if this does not get fixed.

I have had 3 pairs of Timps that I loved! I need a wider shoe. The instant that I put this one on it was way too tight and narrow. Altra, if this is the new footbed, please offer a wide version.
