With the zero gravity footbed, I easily wear these for pickleball and get tremendous comfort.

I loved these shoes but unfortunately Altra has made the horrible decision to discontinue which may cause me to leave altra completely. i have tried the paradigm and torin and hated both.

I've owned both the 7 and the 8. The fit is solid, and the support-to-cushioning ratio is spot on. I like that they're not overly cushioned but still provide good midfoot support, especially since I tend to overpronate. I docked a star for the sole design. Even though there's plenty of tread many miles in, the sections around the ball of my foot and the toe started peeling before I'd even put 20 miles on them. I was hoping the 8 would improve on this from the 7, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Now the line is being discontinued. I'm curious about the Form, but I'm not interested in a drop, so I may have to look elsewhere. Too bad.

I wear this shoe around the house for breaking in. The shoe has good arch support, love the nice wide toe box, and the way it snugs your heel. I would certainly buy this brand of shoe again. Eventually I plan to wear this shoe on my daily walks.

Overall still a great shoe but provision 6 has been my favorite! Why are these so hard to come by though? Just waiting for something to come back in stock or for 9 to come out???

Love these shoes so much! I have plates and screws in my ankle and it's never been more comfortable. My only complaint is whhyyyyy are the laces so short? When I do a heel lock I'm out of lace!

These feel just like my Provision 7, which have been my favorite Altras so far. I love the color.

I sized up one-half size to get the width of the foot box right for my foot. This is not unusual for me. The shoe still works for me, even though it is technically a little too long. No blisters.

With these (size 9.5), my right pinky toe is very snug against the shoe (but my left pinky toe is totally fine!). I still have the provision 7 in size 9.5, and they aren't as narrow. So frustrating.

I have been wearing Altra Provisions for years and absolutely love the fit but the color combinations have so sooooo much to be desired. Who is designing these for you.seriously? The color options are downright horrid! Please do better so I can feel good recommending these to friends.

I like this shoe but I prefer the Torin, which hugs my ankle and gives my foot more support.

I bought these sneakers in size 10.5. But they are different inside. The left shoe has a higher/larger and softer cushion inside and accordingly provides better support for the foot, and the right one has a cushion that feels flat and harder. The sneakers are the same size, but completely different. How is this possible? Is this a manufacturing defect? I have never had this happen. I really like them, they are generally very comfortable. But what should I do? Order them again? What if I get the sneakers with the same problem again?

I have liked the provision 6&7 for the added support as I over pronate, and the much more durable rubber on the entire bottom, as the outer part of my shoe usually rubs away pretty quickly. I run about 15-20 miles a week when I'm not training for anything. I like the taller heel on this model, but I don't love the laces as they are the puffy soft kind that don't tie easily, and they are much shorter than is needed to do a runners lock. I've kept my provision 6 laces from my last two pairs and have been swapping them out when I get new shoes cause the new laces are lousy. Additionally the rubber on the bottom of the 8 is less durable right in the place I need a more resistant material. I will be sticking with the 7 as long as possible.

I have been a dedicated Torin user for years (the Torin 4 is my favorite), and I just couldn't get on board with the last few models. I tried these and am so happy I did! I wore them to exercise right out of the box. I'd tried Provision 6's with no luck, but I really like the feeling of a true zero drop in these. I think I'll stock up just in case they change too.

I loved the 6, it had a great roomy toe box and was comfortable straight away. The 7 was also good but I noticed it was slightly more narrow. After reading reviews on the 8 I was concerned about the narrowness being an issue so I ordered them in men's size. It was still too tight at the forefoot below my toes and caused uncomfortable rubbing at the top of my foot. I ended up using a hairdryer to loosen the area and then they were great. I've still managed to run nearly 400 miles in them. I'm sad that they are moving away from the roomier sizing they had before and becoming more like every other shoe out there. I suppose with my next shoe I will be limited to the two shoes they offer in a wide with boring colors which makes me very sad. They are still the leaders in zero drop with wide toe box, but if they continue in this direction I'm not sure where to go

I want to start this review out by saying that I LOVED-LOVED my Provision 7s. They were probably my favorite running shoe, EVER, and carried me many miles through *everything*. I ordered my Provision 8s, and they are just *too big*. Many reviews online say things like, "The toe box is nice and spacious with more width and volume than the Provision 7."
I didn't need this change. I've worn my Provision 8s on a trail run, a few neighborhood runs, treadmill runs, and they just feel too big, especially on the treadmill. I'm a 5'1" runner with size 8 1/2 feet, and I feel like I'm tripping over my feet in clown shoes.
I don't know if I should try a different size or a different style. Are there any other shoes out there that are more like the Provision 7?

I've been running & hiking in Altras for several years now and have loved the Provision 6 which I found to be the perfect balance of cushion, control and support. They kept me injury-free training for my 1st half marathonwhich for me is saying a lot.
Sadly, I can't get the Provision 6 any more so moved on to the 8. Toe box feels the same and is comfortable and the footbed feels comparablebut the arch support is completely gone. I have a medium to high arch and the Provision 6 provided excellent arch support. The Provision 8 seems to be designed for the flat-footed. Like seriously, no arch support whatsoever. Probably will keep and try an insert like Superfeet and hope that works, but very disappointing.

It was comfortable on the road as far as cushion, but felt like I was wearing flippers. I want a shoe like my Fav Superior 5, or old Escalante that makes me feel like I am flying not plopping.

I switched to the Provision after Brooks retired its Pure line. I loved the Provision 6 and 7, but don't love the upper of the 8. It's rather stiff and hard to get my foot to feel "locked in". I'll keep wearing them for road running because I otherwise like the fit of the shoe, but I hope the next version has a more malleable upper.

This was my second try on this shoe; I have an injury to my big toe and these push my big toe weird. I didn't notice till after the 30 days. Hopefully Altra has a wider shoe for feet like mine!

I love Altra shoes and have been wearing them for years. I ordered these in my usual 9.5 and almost convinced myself to keep them, but I ultimately decided to return them because they felt a bit too small.

I walk a lot. The first pair I bought was wonderfully wide. Subsequent pairs are narrower. This is why I switched from Hoka. What is going on with these companies? I just bought a pair of Topo Phantom 3 and love them. Sorry Altra I don't know where your shoes are being made now, but the uppers are becoming tight.

I have been running in Escalantes, bought and hoarded so I can use them for as long as possible. But then came a hip injury (too much running, not enough strength work I think). So I wanted to TRY something with more cushion.
These are just too structured for me. I have bunions, and flat feet, and I've been really happy in foot-shaped shoes like the Escalante. I just wanted one with more cushion, and the recommendation seemed to be the Provision 8. I don't even want to take them outside, because wearing them in the house is uncomfortable already. Note that I wear Injinji socks, so I need plenty of width in the forefoot.
I think I'm ruined for anything with any structure to it now. But if you like / need a shoe with cushion, and structure, and you don't have bunions with their own zip codes - then this shoe is likely for you. Just not for me.
