Hubby received these shoes today, put them on and asked me to order another pair! He needed a bigger toe box and these are perfect for him.

I just recently purchased a pair of Asics walking shoes based on a review I read. I sought the best price and return policy since I had never worn Asics products before. Great shoe. I wanted to buy another pair of walking shoes I could wear on alternate days. This time I decided to buy a pair I've owned before. The New Balance 840s'. Nothing wrong with the Asics, just wanted something different to alternate with. I purchased from Zappos because I love the convenience, but mainly, the customer service! I want Zappos to last forever! For the benefit of the company, employees and the consumer! Great company! I'm glad I took the chance on purchasing from them!

Perfect width 2E for someone who needs a wide toe-box to be comfortable. Moderately good arch support, no complaints after 12 hours of wear. No funky heels trying to push the stride one way or the other -- truly neutral. Only added wish is for New Balance to offer this shoe with a more breathable top -- that would be sublime!

This is the 2nd pair of 840's that I have purchased within the past year. I do a lot of walking and these shoes seem to wear better than more expensive New Balance shoes.

I recently tried these shoes when my usual New Balance style wasn't available. I'm happy to say they are great. I also have orthotics and have to get a men's shoe in order to get them to fit with my orthotics. I could wear them immediately for long walks -- no problem! I love the toe room!

I use this shoe for work, on my feet most of the day. Plenty of support and not a bad looking shoe.

I walk for a living and I can honestly say that overall these are the best pair of shoes to be walking all day, even in the hot weather of the tropics.

Great quality; my mom has been wearing these for a month and they show no signs of stretching or wear. These shoes are perfect for her custom orthotics, which require wider and deeper shoes. The shoes fit well out of the box; no breaking in needed. No rubbing or chafing; just great stable support and high quality materials and construction.

I recently ordered the above shoe in the wrong size. I called customer service and they emailed me a return shipping label (free) and I dropped the package off at UPS. Zappos then sent me the correct size at no cost. Great service, I highly recommend.

Bought this for my Dad as a Christmas gift. He is really happy with this shoe. The customer service from Zappos was really great because I originally ordered the size in EE, but needed a D width. They immediately sent over the correct width and once I received it, then I can sent them the shoes I mistakenly ordered.

The shoe felt comfortable and worked great with my orthotics, BUT the soles are the noisiest I've ever owned, every step on most hard floorings was squeaking up a storm.

I ordered size 10.5 extra wide, that was what the box showed on outside of it. HOWEVER, the shoes that were in the box were a size 10. Did not fit obviously, returned for refund so I cant tell you much about the shoe other than it has a lot of foam cusion a la HOKA style if you like that. These are not for fashion conscious folk, walking or running only i think, would not wear in public.

These are supposed to be extra wide but the toe box feels tight and restrictive. Normally I buy size 11 EE (Wide) from New Balance and they're very roomy, but these 11 EE are definitely smaller and tighter in the toe box than other New Balance shoes I've worn. So I am returning and I recommend size up 1/2 size in these, if you want a shoe that is comfortable.

Shoe was okay; needed a larger size--so I returned it.

I got an extra wide 4E but actually a tiny bit narrow in front, though still basically wide enough. Main problem: ankle dips a tad high, but not as bad as the 1080v13. New balance really needs to make deeper ankle dips on all their shoes! Fairly good cushion on foot bed (but could be more). Okay arch support (could have more) but seems okay. Nice heal spring, and overall curve-rock to step. I'm keeping these, but they're not perfect, just better than most other things I've tried.

I did not order schetchers. I expected regular sneakers with fairly flat soles. The shoes were impossible to walk in. Hopefully New Balance will sell regular sneakers. New Balance are the only sneaker that I know on the market that make wide shoes that fit my square foot.

I have worn New Balance for years. Over the last few years their shoes have tended to fit tight in the toes and to have narrowed. The MW840v2 seems to have gone back to the old New Balance fit. ----and that is good.

Only shoe that provides the soft cushion sole that helps with my knee pain. Hope they never change this model.

For my husband, he wears a 14 EE and prefers New Balance-they were perfect.

Very comfortable! I am a mechanic and wear these in my shop everyday. Like boots, the leather protects my feet from spills but I enjoy the comfort of a sneaker.

Comfortable and true to size, I walk 3/5 miles 2/3 time a week , these seem to do the job.

These had a big, basketball shoe look when worn with jeans. I wasn't expecting that based on the product images. However, if you wear baggy jeans or don't mind a large shoe, these are otherwise stylish and comfortable.

This is a comfortable walking shoe that gives good support with my orthotics. I tend to roll inwards, and this helps like when walking on those hard mall floors.
