This was a Christmas present from my husband. It's perfect for my needs but the zipper, as usual, is sub par. I do not understand why LL Bean puts such shoddy zippers in their clothes. I returned a jacket not so long ago for just this reason. I would have returned this down jacket as well had it not been a gift. The jacket is great, the zipper awful.

This jacket has three qualities that I like: 1) drawcord hem that can be adjusted to keep the warmth in and the wind out, 2) stowaway for travel, and 3) it is warm without being bulky. Therefore, the jacket is not bulky like the Baxter parka but is as warm and keeps the wind away from the hip area unlike the other ultra warm jacket. Some people say the size is not correct. I disagree. I ordered my normal size and it fits nicely. Of course, it is overpriced.

It's Light weight, but not as warm as the description showed Max Warm. But the color is cool and pretty.

Great coat for warmth and as a wind breaker and raincoat, but that super high collar has to go. 4 stars instead of 5 because when you don't have a long neck it's a problem.

My 5'7" friend bought this, and she absolutely loves the warmth it provides without having to add many layers underneath. It is also extremely waterproof. Based on her experience, I bought an extra small petite, but unfortunately it was still way too big for my 5'2" frame and had to be returned. It was exactly the warmth and waterproof I needed, but the fit doesn't work sadly.

Great for alpine skiing with vents and hood that fits over the helmet

Was looking for a new winter jacket to replace my existing LL Bean jacket. I tried this jacket in both petite and regular (I am 5'2"). In the regular size, the sleeves were ridiculously long. In petite, the sleeves were still too long, but manageable. However, the front was shorter than I would have liked and the shirttail hem made the jacket unflattering and unattractive. I do not understand why LL Bean makes these jackets with a shirttail hem, rather than just making the jacket longer evenly all the way around (the longer version of this jacket also inexpicably has a shirttail hem).

While the jacket is warm, it's not warm enough to replace a winter jacket. Great for cold fall or spring season. I was charged $350.00 for the jacket but the price tag said $329.00 - was I overcharged? The hood was great - actually fits a human head. The jacket does shed feathers but not as bad as I expected from other reviews. For the price it should have had a two-way zipper. Size runs normal.

Looks good but lacking in details that would improve it. No two way zipper. It needs bigger pockets on outside to stow gloves, phone and the zippers on outside pocket seem to large. Inside pocket of coat is way to deep. Overpriced.

I love the color of this jacket. It fits me well with the exception of a bulge in the chest area. It looks ridiculous, but rest of it fits well. I particularly like the hood which keeps me cozy in the winter wind while walking my dogs.

I just got this in the mail, loved the color on line, the actual color was muted. This happened many times. Sleeves too long for a petite, zipper a little difficult not horrible, otherwise a nice jacket LL Bean what are you doing with the zippers? As for colorsI am 73 years old, I don't look good in kelp green yuck.!

I was looking for an insulated, waterproof, packable jacket or parka with lots of large enough zippered pockets for travel. I had to replace an old L.L. Bean Waterproof Primaloft Packaway Jacket in a beautiful cinder color( sadly discontinued) because the zipper broke. So I figured perhaps I would order something a bit warmer this time. If it could be a bit stylish that would be a plus too. This waterproof, ultralight jacket down jacket has a nice fit, with room to layer underneath and is slightly longer in the back with a nicely shaped, rounded bottom. I had ordered an X-Small and I am 5'6'' and 135 lbs. I had room to layer comfortably underneath. I appreciated the zippered breast and side pockets, but would have liked another zippered pocket inside, that is large enough to hold a phone. In general there seems to be a lack of zippered pockets and often pockets are just too small. The color choices were limited and I don't care for the pastel easter egg colors. I went with the carbon that an orange/red zipper. It is okay, but I don't love it. I would like to see a jacket that looks somewhat stylish out and about and on the trail. Unfortunately this jacket was leaking quite a bit of feathers and had very sharp zippers on the outer pockets. For an expensive jacket like this I just couldn't live with that and my search continues. Perhaps L.L. Bean could create a packable, waterproof, with slighlty larger pockets version of the Mountain Classic Down Parka that would be suitable for travel. I have owned that parka for several years now in burgundy and it is very nice, but too bulky for travel and not waterproof. I really appreciate L.L. Bean products and the commitment of the company to create great products. We have enjoyed many of them! Thank you!

I do like this jacket. It is quite warm and waterproof. It is very difficult to zip. I am concerned that the zipper will not last. This is not my first LL Bean jacket but the first with a zipper that is not sturdy.

Love everything about it especially that's it's waterproof ! Light weight ! Great pockets ! Hood! I'm not tall and it rides up when I drive so I need to unzipper coat - wish it had a double zipper!!!!

I loved the look, but found it uncomfortable with an extra layer underneath. I wish it had a zipper at the bottom to make it more comfortable for driving. I was disappointed to have to return it.

I returned this jacket about 2 weeks after I bought it. Great grey color, loved the red zippers, the fit was perfect. However, every time I wore it anything I had on underneath the jacket was covered in feathers/pieces of feathers. When I returned it the salesperson told me the feathers on my clothing was due to friction between the lining of the jacket and my clothes. How ridiculous! This is a $300 jacket that clearly has a manufacturing defect.

This is a great winter jacket for somebody who is tall. I'm 5'3" and ordered petite but the sleeves were very long! I had to return.

I'd been waiting for a waterproof down coat in this color for a long time and was excited to order it. I have the waterproof Primaloft jacket and ordered this one in the same size. I even chatted with customer service to confirm that they are similarly sized. Sadly, this one is too wide and the sleeves are too long. I would like to exchange it but it looks like the smaller size in the muted purple is sold out. So regretfully, it will be returned and I will wear my puffy old non-waterproof down jacket for another year.

It's says this jacket is slightly fitted which is why I ordered a large. It's not fitted at all. It's boxy and so big every where. I love the jacket and it's exactly what I wanted. Not too long at all. I will return for the M.

Sorry not to agree with the glowing reviews below but I don't like this jacket. It's very puffy. No shape to it at all. Too bad it doesn't have a drawstring at the waist. I'm 5'6" 145# 34C/D, bought a R medium. The sleeves came down to the tips of my fingers the tail below my bottom. Maybe I could've sized down but honestly the color (dark grey with orange accents) is blah, and overall shapelessness is not for me.

I am a thinly built person and wear a size SM in LLBean jackets. LLBean lately has been making the arms on their womens coats and jackets too narrow in the upper arms and shoulders and it sometimes extends the whole arm. I cannot size up because the body gets too big. This is a "fashion" move and it is not condusive to a coat where one needs room. Please stop this design practice. It is getting totally frustrating. I do not know how many jackets and coats I have sent back because of this. I have moved on to a competitor for the above reasons. Also, the price point is quite high for this coat. I have seen many complaints for the same reason, so I wish LLBean would take our advice.

Not for me, alas! Love the weight and color. But it is very oddly cut in the body, has space for huge bosoms. Doesn't work for me. I always get xs for tops in llbean, but this is, sadly, a miss! Would've been happy to pay the high cost but for the poor fit. Returned it!

I liked a few features of this jacket but not all. I liked the style, more tailored features, however I wish that it could have a double zipper or snaps. Just didn't work for me. I was disappointed.
