Weird fit. Salesperson told me even he hasn't been able fit into Bean Boots. If u can find something that fits they are well made.

I ordered a half size smaller than usual and I was still drowned in these shoes.

Ordered one full size smaller than usual shoe size as recommended and they were still too large. Bean needs to get a better handle on sizing of their import made boots. While stylish looking, these boots were useless as the ankle and heel area is so loose with absolutely no support that you walk right out of them, even after trying several different heel and sole inserts. I sent them back the next day. In the meantime, I located a used pair of US/Maine-made over the ankle zip-up Bean Boots in new condition. These are only 1/2 size smaller than my usual size, but they fit perfectly and are very easy to get on/take off. Bean should consider making men's front zip boots again.
Disappointed,

I read through all of the reviews, ordered two sizes down, and had high hopes these would be exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the footbed size isn't the issueit's also around the ankle that's enormous. I could fit my thigh in these things and they'd still have wiggle room. I can't believe LLBean even still has these for sale.

Upper leather doesn't secure around ankle or lower leg. Very floppy fit.

Too loose and wide for someone with narrow feet and with laces, floated even after returning for a full size less than normal. Have had Bean Boots with laces in past but slip on boots were not a good fit.

Great boot but the opening is so wide it's very lose on the heel. Heel slips when I walk. Length was good.

I bought these a size smaller than I normally wear, per the online reviews. I normally wear a ten and got these in a 9. The length seemed about right, and the width was fine, but when I walked in them it's like there's nothing holding my feet in. They just slide right off. I instantly get a huge gap under my foot and my whole foot is coming out of the boot. It's like the heal is too wide or something is off with the shape of the heal. Nothing grabs the foot and keeps the boot on. I can't exactly figure out what's wrong. Its like they're too large, but they are the right size in most aspects. Other than that, the craftsmanship is very nice. The color and design look good. I just wish I could have made them fit. I was tempted to go down 2 sizes, but having to pay to return these each time and try a different size didn't seem worth it. I have abstained from buying any other bean boot for that same reason. I'm too afraid of their sizing inconsistency, and it costs me for shipping each time the sizing is off. This doesn't extend to the other shoes I have got from LL Bean. I bought a pair of their Bucksport Shoes, and they fit like any other size 10 would fit. Next time I'm near an LL Bean store, I'll go in and try some of the other Bean Boot models on and see if I can get one of them too fit. Too bad the closest store is 3 1/2 hours away.

Ordered size, based on sizing guide. One size under my usual. Still too big in the heel area. The heel box is almost an inch wider than my foot. I'm taking them to a local shop to see if some padding can be added. Thick socks don't help. I'm really trying to like these boots, due to easy off/on.

First off, my sneaker size is 11.5. My redwing size is 10.5. I needed a size 9 in these boots to get the right length.
Even when properly sized, they feel way too loose around the ankle and heel. I cant imagine what these would be good for. They are way too wobbly and loose to be suitable for anything but short walks on perfectly flat surfaces.

Was disappointed that the boot wasn't the same as others I have gotten. Much shorter and the sizes are way off.

TLDR/sloppy fit, poor execution of chelsea boot, reduced quality of materials.
Just got these a couple of days ago and I am somewhat underwhelmed.
The lower seems to be of the quality I have come to know with bean boots.
The upper however leaves a lot to be desired.
The leather is thin and too soft. It is definitely not up to the same specs as my old bean boots.
Also, the upper is poorly executed. It fits like a Wellington but with elastic added to the side as a fashionable adornment that serves no purpose other than to allow water into the boots. I expect the top of a chelsea boot to be tighter and provide some retention to the foot. These do not do that.
I will be returning these. Probably just get a couple of pairs of Grundens for the price.

I used the sizing guideline and even with bulky socks a size 11 boot is far too big for my size 11.5 feet. I cant walk in the boot as my foot slips out of the boot. I mean its not even close and now I have to pay $6.50 to return it because the size info is ridiculously inaccurate?

I order a size 10, too big and very sloppy fitting. Sent them back. My husband has order other style boot size 10 and was very happy with the way they fit.

I received my boots in the mail one day prior to writing this review. I really wanted these boots to work for me but unfortunately they aren't going to. I've worn them for one day and have rolled my ankle about 10-15 times. I've worn them outside so the likelihood of returning them is low but I will call customer service and see what they can do. I bought them through academy, not LL Bean directly. The boots are just too loose and unstable even after sizing them in accordance with LL Beans recommendation and wearing heavy socks. Would try these again if they redesigned them with a smaller ankle opening and better heel retention. They are high quality hand made boots but they suffer from poor design/ sizing. I bought these for everyday, around the house boots, as an alternative to modern fishing/ deck boots because of their traditional outdoors styling.

Very loose fit. Especially in the heel and ankle. Elastic cuff had zero effect. I returned them. Quite disappointed as I was excited to see the style and hoped they would work for me.

I've worn Bean Boots for 20+ years and these aren't make like any of the ones I've owned. The lowers are typical bean boots but the leather uppers are so wide that you'll just step right out of them. My usual boot size is 11.5 so I ordered a 10 like all of my other Bean Boots. The rubber lowers fit fine but the uppers are terribly oversized. The stretch fabric goring on the sides doesn't even need to stretch because the opening on the uppers are so wide. I would've expected the uppers to be snug around the ankle like most chelsea boots so the goring can stretch to get them on and offbut not these they are WAY too wide at the top. Very disappointing.

Based on comments I saw I ordered these shoes one size smaller than usual. When I tried them on they looked like clown shows, I mean comically large. Returned them and reordered one more size smaller. STILL too large. I don't know what they were thinking when they cut/assembled them but at that point I returned them for good. I can't recommend them unless you have a chance to try them on in person.

In spite of the poor reviews, i had to see for myself. The poor reviews were correct. I downsized as recommended and the front of the boot fit OK, although a bit snug. The rear was huge and did not grip my ankle and heal. It flopped around and my feet came partway out with each step. I returned them promptly. Please re-design them.
