Love that there's a slip-on version of the classic bean boot! These go on quickly and hands-free, making trips out to the garden so much easier, especially on wet days when the extra boot height is so important. Reason for 4 rather than 5 stars: without the lacing, there is no lateral support and the boots frequently roll the ankle side to side. I suggest manufacturing the boot with a wider heel to help mitigate this problem.

This is my favorite bean boot. I have several pairs, but these are not quite the same quality as usual. the leather is not as nice.

I reduced the size as suggested but when the boots arrived I found that they were larger than anticipated. I ended up using an inordinate amount of inserts. J in had to double the heel inserts to get a decent fit.

The sizing was strange to me and I ended up with boots that are too big. The quality is great. I don't know if LLB will take them back because I got them for a great price.

Usually like Bean products and liked the looks of this boot. Said to order one full size down since they run big? Have a closet full of shoes, some over 35 years old, that are all size 10 D. Several are Bean products, by the way. Anyway, the boots were still very large and not wearable for me. Even with a couple of pairs of socks, they wouldn't have been comfortable. Folks in customer service were very good about helping me return the boots and getting my charge card credit. Used to live in New England and have bought $1,000s in Bean products over the years. Always enjoyed my visits to Freeport and my local Bean location. Unfortunately I'm getting priced out of some things. Boat shoes I've bought for years have just about doubled in price in last 6-7 years. Not all Bean's fault, but disappointing nevertheless.

My husband loved the look of this boot and the idea of not having laces. He wears a size 10 so took advice and sized down. I ordered and 8.5 which could almost walk out of. I then ordered an 8 which was better but still too loose to be comfortable. We returned both pairs and will try the lace up boot.

Even with the proper size, the boot does not fit the heel and there is too much slippage.

I ordered a full size smaller, size 8 versus size 9 my feet were swimming in this boot. Nice boot but the sizing is way off. Disappointing.

I like these boots and the quality and construction seemed very good. There were two things that I didn't like about this Boot. Number one is that the opening that the foot goes in was so big that there was no need for elastic to close it. The opening around my ankle was very loose and sloppy. The other problem I had, oddly enough, was that this particular boot was a little tight around the middle of my foot. If I were to return them for a larger size to accommodate the width of my foot the opening would have just gotten larger so I elected to return the shoes. I would love to buy some LL bean footwear but at this point I don't believe I'll ever do it unless I can sit down in one of their stores and try it the footwear on.

My experience with the Bean Chelsea boot is to only go down a 1/2 size from what you would normally wear if you wear a wide (EE) shoe. A full size down is too narrow at the ball of the foot, although the heal width is fine. If these boots came in wide width a full size down would have provided an excellent fit (the lace up Bean boots fit perfect in my normal wide width size). A Chelsea style shoe should fit like a pair of western boots with about 1/8 inch heal slip. The heal slip in these boots is far greater than that. They fit more like a pair of slippers than a Chelsea boot. Maybe providing wide sizes would help this. The width and length of the elastic upper opening doesn't help with the fit either, it is way too big. If you are looking for a pair of boots to wear like slippers for quick excursions outside, these are great. Anything more than that, such as real yard work, hiking, farm work, etc.) these may not the boot for you as the fit is too sloppy, at least for a wide width foot.

Buyer beware. If you have a narrow foot be prepared to wear heavy/extra heavy socks, even then you will experience heal slip. The boots are of excellent quality but LL Bean needs to go back to the original narrow sizing offers of the original Bean Boot, as not everyone has feet classified as wide or extra wide.

First boot ordered was too big with a 9, and second boot was also too big. Was too much trouble and cost too much , more than original price,!with charge for shipping added, to return them so kept them and will wear heavy socks

Echoing everyone's sentiments about how loose the boots are at the ankle. There's no purpose for the elastic material because it's so loose. I ended up returning.

Perhaps I bought the wrong size or wrong item but these feel very loose. As I walk my heel rises rubbing the inside of the boot. Otherwise the boots are nice and well made.

I bought these boots about six months ago, and despite trying very hard to like them, they are too big for me. They are a nice boot, and I ordered down a size as per the instructions, but even with heavy socks, my feet slip around in them. I will be returning them shortly.

I've worn Bean Boots for many years including several lace up's and slip ons. Unfortunately this pair has been a disappointment in one aspect. The exterior heal is so narrow that I rolled the boot and my ankle to easily on uneven modest side slopes. Everything else is what I've come to expect.

I owned an older version of these boots and loved them. This revised version falls short for two reasons: 1) they are about an inch shorter and as a result my jeans cuffs tend to get hung up on top of the leather upper, and 2) the back of the leather upper is not nearly as stiff as in the older version and I therefore can't just slip my feet in (the upper crumples). Otherwise, nice well made boots.

Love the boots, but the streach part around the ankles is to big, and could be tighter, otherwise they fit great, and wear much better than other brands.
