Bought and had for one day. Just walking around the house started to have the lip on the outside of the ankle digging in to my skin. Same on every pair of 7s.

I moved from the Escalante to the Torin at model #4 and have used 10ish pairs of the 4, 5 & 6. I have always really liked the Torin except for the durability which seems to have been somewhat enhanced with the 6. I have especially enjoyed pulling a new set of Torins out of the box and going for a first long run on a new midsole. Not with the 7. On a 10 mile run, I wished I had my old pairs of the 6 back. The shoe feels heavier and stiffer. The midfoot feels too narrow even in the wide version. Altra made the tongue of the 7 thicker, and I've been a big fan of the thinner tongue trend on all models. The heel cup feels more rigid and not as forgiving. Maybe they'll break in, but I'm not impressed out of the box. I've started leaning back toward Hoka for trail running; now it looks like I might have to do the same for road running.

Feels small and narrow on my feet. After the first 5k with them my feet felt like they'd been in a vice. Tried using them without the insole, but not much better. Upper feels stiff and restrictive.

bottom tread is pealing off on both pairs I have tried. painful ankle rubbing like something is digging into my outer ankle. inner fabric is already starting to fray. never had any issues with the Escalante. im done giving the Torin line a chance.

With in 20 days and a few runs a hole began to form in the inner right foot crease. I was just getting used to the zero drop and really enjoying the shorter runs. However, the quality was lacking.

I'm halfway between the Slim + Original Footshapes. My heel's kinda slim so the wide heel did not work. Had to use all eyelets to not slip, that hurt the top of my instep. Laces were impossibly short.

I've taken this shoe on a few easy runs now and every time I have had a burning sensation that I worry would lead to blisters. Many attempts to adjust laces before and during runs but cannot seem to fix the issue. They otherwise feel like the right size and are the same as what I wear in all my other Altra and non-Altra shoes. I find myself compensating and altering my stride and foot strike from my normal fore/midfoot strike and don't want to end up injuring myself trying to run in them. The toe box does not feel too big but almost too "slippery" of an insole, I've tried several different thickness socks as well.
I put 600+ miles in my Torin 4.5 Plush and they were my very favorite easy day shoe and was hoping that these would be a great return to that shoe's success but they just aren't working for me. I hope that they work for you and will be looking forward to other Altra shoes as they come out.

It feels like Altra made too many changes from the Torin 6 to 7 that make this feel like a completely different shoe. I bought 2 pair of Torin 6s in different colors and wore them nearly everyday for over a year. I was so excited anticipating the 7. Sure the new tongue and heel are nice, but despite the claim of a responsive sole, this sole does not feel nearly as responsive as the 6 did to me. I went with an Outroad instead this time because it felt more similar to the Torin 6 than the Torin 7 did to me, at least in the way that I personally wanted it to. I feel similarly about the LonePeak 6 jumps this year, but my LonePeak 5s are still holding up.

I have multiple foot issues and the Torin actually -- and to its credit -- feel terrific and so I stick with them. Having said, I've bought SIX pairs of Torin 7s over the past 2.5 years (I have the receipts to prove it), none of which have lasted more than 2-3 months before the inside heel material completely decompose and rip (example video attached). I'm 56 and my knees are shot, so I had been wearing the Torins as every day shoes and to walk in (about ~5 miles per day). Its insane...the soles themselves and rest of the shoe are barely scratched but the INSIDE heel completely rips and falls apart. I've complained multiple times to Altra but because I bought 5 of the pairs thru "unauthorized dealers" (ie a large online seller) they wouldn't stand behind the warranty. As a make good after reviewing my photos and the purchase receipts they gave me a 25% credit on yet another pair -- I bought the paradigms that don't fit quite as well but have at least held up after 6 months. Anyone else have this issue?

Shoe has to much play for me. I just bought the wrong shoe for working out. Not a fan of memory foam shoe.

So I'ven been running in alra trail shoes for years, love em. Recently I've been doing more road running so decided to try some road shoes. I've been starting to have ankle issues which I've never had. It finally occurred to me the timing coincided with getting these new shoes. Started reading the specs and reviews and discover tons of people complaining of bruised/hurt ankles with these bad boys. Probably works just fine with certain foot structure but for me they are unusable even though the fit and run feel fine

Shoes are no longer built the same as a year ago, soles are hard and the same model shoes from previous years are bigger in every direction. The current models are shorter and narrower in every aspect of the shoe.

Bruised my ankle bones. I attempted to break these shoes in for three weeks and still could not run in them without pain. All altra would do is recommend another altra shoe to buy, not replace. I bought two pairs of torin 7 and will never do again. I made the mistake of believing that the product would be stellar out of the box. Not the case. Unsatisfied customer.

These were a major downgrade from the previous few Torins. The stack height is high but they are extremely firm. Hopefully the torin 8 is return to previous models.

I've run in the Torin series since they first came out and have loved them - they have been the perfect shoe for my foot. Unfortunately, the Torin 7 redesigned the outer ankle area: it it a firmer material that is noticeably taller than the previous versions. The outer portion of the shoe rubs against my ankle bone in a way such that I can't wear them for a short, casual walk, much less running any distance. It's a shame, because I think it's a great shoe otherwise, but I'm giving this pair away and buying something different as I can't wear them for any length of time or any activity without discomfort.

I have been with Altra for nearly a decade. I have worn every iteration of the Torin--And this is the end. Sizing off, breathability is terrible, and the toe box is narrow. Why have you ruined your brand? Zero drop, wide toebox--you've changed, and it sucks.

I've been running exclusively in Altras for over 10 years (the original Instinct) and have probably gone through 40 pairs. This is the first pair I've ever returned, the ankle cutout is solid plastic that cut into my lateral malleolus (outside ankle bony protrusion, I had to look it up) after an 8 mile run that was so bad it hurt for weeks. Altra used to make shoes with runners in mind, all with wide toe boxes and zero drop so your foot can function the way it was designed. Now they're going more and more casual/trendy to appeal to a wider audience (which I don't fault them for) but they're less reliable as a running shoe company. I went back to the Provision line, I had three pair of 7's and I'm on my second pair of 8's and they're still solid. That's my advice- pass on these and get the Provision 8.

In one year the same model number of shoe has changed dramatically, the wide is no longer wide like it used to be. I have two pairs of the same model, both wide but the new pair is 1/4-1/2 inch smaller in length and width.

I've been running for 50 years, and this is unquestionably the worst shoe I've ever run in. The heel slips no matter how you tie it. My middle toes ache in pain, because my toes jam up to the front of the toe box. So, you try to compensate for the aforementioned problems, and your circulation is cut off, because you have to tie them too tight. This shoe is over-priced trash, and I threw them away this morning!

I bought these after falling in love with my Torin 6. These fit significantly more narrow and are unbearable for me to wear causing all sorts of blisters. Extremely disappointed in the shoe.

I ordered these for my husband. He's worn them intermittently as a dedicated everyday shoe and they've re-triggered the Plantar Fasciitis he had previously recovered from almost two years ago. The only change was the shoes and now he's in a good amount of pain and these weren't exactly inexpensive. Unfortunately we're part the return period for them.

These shoes feel very comfortable. i use them mostly for walking and occasional very short jogs. The fit is a little narower than other Altras and the length feels a little longer. I tried half sizing down but they were too narrow/tight. The bad: The materials for this shoe are not durable. I started getting a hole in the left shoe before 30 days and now a hole in the right shoe shortly after 30 days. The hole is where your toes bend in the shoes. I cannot recommend this shoe given the cost how quickly they deteriorate

Well I saw the writing on the wall and bought 6 pairs of Torin 4.5s and I just unboxed my last pair today. Please, please start listening to the people that were loyal to your brand and it's not just me, I know a lot of people that have changed to Topo but like many of those that have tried the arch support of Topo kills me. I've tried many iterations and models of Altra and the Escalantes and the Torins have fit best altough not sure about the Escalante 4 since I bought mulitiple of the 3 since I liked them and the reviews of the 4 are not as strong as the 3.
Have other COMPLETELY separate models if you are trying to get more market share for the masses, but I'm running (didn't know that pun was going to happen) out of options and I so far haven't found another brand that fits better.
Hoping you can get back to your roots with the fit that got you a following in the first place.
Cheers,
Richard

I'm writing review here for Torin 6 because I could not find that model on site. Shoe is so poorly designed that I could not even walk properly in it and costs about 160 euros in my country.

These shoes would be incredibly comfortable if the toe box didn't take such an over-exaggerated curve inwards. It gives your big toe plenty of room, and absolutely smashes your little toes. Not an ergonomic design which is incredibly frustrating.
