What I love and revere about Altras above all else is they make shoes that are shaped like human feet. One of the only manufacturers that does this. I have a medium D width foot as measured on one of those Brannock devices found in shoe stores yet I frequently have to order wide (2EE) in other shoes, especially in Hokas which I also love. I currently have Lone Peak Alpine, Torin Luxe, Paradigm 6 and now these Torin 7s. I did a long walk in my Torin Luxe this morning so that I would be able to compare with these new 7s. I have always found the Luxe to be one of the lightest and most comfortable shoes I have. The 7 right off the bat has more noticeable cushioning. You have a slightly higher ride that should give runners a more comfortable experience. The tongue and heel collar cushion are a bit thinner than the Luxe but still very comfortable and unless you're wearing a very low no-show sock shouldn't present any friction issues around your heel and ankle. This is an outstanding shoe in fit and comfort with one drawback that may be peculiar to me. With each Altra, except one, there is a bit of heel sinking when I lean slightly back creating a bit of a fulcrum see-saw effect of my feet across the middle (arch) of the shoe. The only Altra that doesn't have this issue are the Paradigms, which to me are the pinnacle of the Altra line. There is no rocking or sinking of my heels in those shoes. The only other complaint I've had with Altras has been the lack of color choice but they've been expanding that recently. I'm ambivalent about the zero drop design as I wear my Hokas with a 5-8mm drop a lot and don't experience any issues going back and forth between those and my Altras. Fit is the primary reason I gravitated to Altras and that is their undisputed superior feature. For those that haven't noticed, in any negative way, the heel sinking I mentioned, the Torin 7s should prove to be an outstanding choice, with a little more cush and comfort than previous Torins. They also may be just a tiny bit wider in the forefoot than my Torin Luxe.

I was running in a pair of Torin 6 shoes before these and the added midsole cushion is fantastic! Great running shoes!

The cushioning in the Torin 7 is simply outstanding, equipped with the Quantic midsole, which delivers a perfect combination of responsiveness and plushness. The result is a comfortable ride that absorbs impact while still providing an energizing bounce, not only while running, but even while taking long walks or long-standing sessions.

I'm taking the time to write this review because I feel the reviews on Altra's site skew negative. It's a fundamental problem with customer feedback- happy customers generally won't reach out to let you know they're satisfied, while unsatisfied customers will. I moved to Altra from Brooks. I loved my Brooks, but a bunion on my right foot meant it was time to switch to something with a wider toebox. My first pair of Altras was the FWD Experience, which fit my foot like a glove and are an absolute joy to run in. The only limitation with the FWD Experience, in my opinion, is the cushion. Long runs left me feeling like I had been through a full wash and dry cycle. Because of this, I wanted to try a shoe with Egomax foam. Enter the Torin 7. The Torin 7 is the best running shoe I've ever owned. It is astonishing how much better I feel on long runs with this shoe. Low back pain, bunion pain, knee pain- all gone. The switch to zero-drop required integrating some achilles/calf stretching in my mobility routine, but beyond that, it's been seamless. The gripes I see from others on this shoe (and really all Altra shoes at the moment) are about durability. I have roughly 275 miles on these shoes and the material has held up very well. I will say that the Egomax foam now feels 'dead'- I feel the impact of my runs more, I no longer get that 'keep going' sensation with each stride, and some slight niggles have started to appear. That being said, I think it's widely accepted by the running community that shoes are only going to feel as good as they do out of the box for something around 300 miles. It's unfortunate with how much running shoes cost, and I certainly wish it weren't the case, but that lifespan isn't something I'm going to complain about or fault Altra for given the state of the industry. Without hesitation, I will be buying another pair of the Torin 7 to replace my current pair. My one 'wish' is that Altra somehow integrated Egomax with their 'Experience' line. While I find zero-drop to be a viable platform (and admittedly, perhaps advantageous in the 'injury prevention' department), even the slight 4mm drop in my FWD Experience adds a perceptible 'go' factor that I missed from the Torin.

Usually rock Escalante's on my road runs but the Torins give me that extra cushion for the longer training runs. Tow box came out at just the right size with the Wides.

The shoes are great. One of only a few brands on the market that have room for toes. Altra does it best and I feel like they did it first. If you mess with the design to make them more like the other brands then I'll never buy another pair of Altras again.

Not a hardcore runner, but I usually get around 20 to 25 miles a week. Been running in Torins since the 4 for the wide toe box and zero drop, but there were always little nagging things that could have been better. On my 4th pair of 7's now and have one more pair in reserve. The tongue is good, the soles wear well, no rubs or specific failure points, and I've gotten 450+ miles out of each pair. Haven't pulled the trigger on the 8 yet, but I hope that they didn't change too much. Only complaint is the pair that I'm currently running in squeak like mad. It's almost embarrassing how much they squeak. Don't know exactly why, seems like the rubber is separated internally somehow.

The Torin 7 was my first pair of Altra's. Liked them so much I bough a second pair. Then when the Torin 8 came out I couldn't wait to buy a pair. Unfortunately the Torin 8 was not nearly as comfortable as the Torin 7 so I returned them and bought 3 more pairs of the Torin 7. What the Torin 7 got right was comfortable toe box & perfect foam density. What I disliked about the Torin 8 was the feel of the toe with the redesigned upper and the foam was way to hard, did not like them at all. Hope they improve the design when the Torin 9 comes out.

The Torin 7 was my introduction to Altra. From the moment I tried them on, they felt made for my feet. Since the first pair, I have been looking for another pair of shoes to replace the ones I was wearing on alternate days. After trying no less than 7 different brands/styles that did not work for me, I ordered the Torin 8s. Ouch --- the toe spring on those made my toes hurt! So I returned them, and got a 2nd pair of Torin 7s. With the current sale going on, I have just ordered a 3rd pair (and am considering ordering a 4th)! Everyone's feet are different --- so when you find a shoe that works well for your feet, stock up!

Best heel feeling with a heel-lock I've encountered. Great durability, comfort, and fit. The tongue is great. Minimal Upper tear due to being lazy and pulling my foot out with the heel-lock not loosened. A little too loosy-goosy after 500+ miles. Torin 8 feels chunky by comparison.

I have the Men's Torin 7 in the wide width in the grey/red color. These are the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned! Both the fit and the cushion are perfect! I don't run in them but they are super comfortable for everyday wear. And they look good. I am however very disappointed that the new Torin 8 only comes in black in the wide width, and the reviews are that they are way narrower than the previous Torin models. I would love to buy another identical pair but they are sold out.

I just turned 60 in November and have been logging anywhere between 15 and 20 miles a week sometime much more for about 20 years now and these shoes well Altra in general have been my shoe of choice for most of the years. I love the minimal zero drop feel. I'm convinced it keeps my knees and legs strong! Remember we were born to run!

I have two pairs of Altra's, the Esclalante 4 which I use to work out in (weight training at home) and the Torin 7 which I use for walking and everyday use. Both are comfortable in their own way. Love the space in the toe box in both and their neutral stance. The Torin has more overall cushion which I need and this makes it a very comfortable shoe. I am very pleased so far.
