Thankful that I got these shoes at no charge in exchange for a review. Definitely a different feel than other running shoes I've tried because of the low toe to heel drop. However, the cushioning seems adequate for a decent distance. The toe box is perfect for my average width feet. Definitely will explore the brand more with this good first impression.

They are really nice shoes, for wide foot. I have a narrow feet so they feel loose but even with that I still like them. They are super soft yet give amazing support to my feet.

I recently received a free pair of Altra FWD Experience running shoes in exchange for this review.
As an avid runner, I'm always on the lookout for shoes that can provide the perfect blend of comfort, support, and performance. The Altra FWD Experience did not disappoint.
First and foremost, what sets these shoes apart is the unique design of Altra's toe box. It's wider than traditional running shoes, allowing your toes to splay naturally. This feature made a noticeable difference in reducing discomfort and hotspots during long runs. It's like giving your feet room to breathe and move freely, which I believe contributes to overall foot health.
These shoes have more cushioning than I'm used to, but I find the cushioning in these shoes is exceptional. For me, it provides a great balance between comfort and terrain responsiveness. It absorbs impact without feeling mushy, which is perfect for those who prefer a balance between cushioning and ground feel. Whether I'm on a long, slow jog or pushing the pace during a tempo run, the FWD Experience handles it all with ease.
The upper of the shoe is breathable and lightweight, which is great for warmer days. The shoe is also quite durable, and I've put it through some rough terrain without any signs of wear and tear.
One thing to note about these shoes is the low drop between the heel and forefoot. I typically run with zero-drop shoes, but found the small drop to be a refreshing change of pace. In terms of fit, these shoes are true to size, but I'd recommend trying them on before purchasing if you have a wide foot. The roomy toe box can accommodate wider feet, but if you have narrow feet, you might want to consider other Altra models or perhaps a different brand.
The FWD Experience's traction is excellent, providing a confident grip on various surfaces. Whether you're running on roads, trails, or even wet conditions, these shoes offer solid footing.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the Altra FWD Experience men's running shoes. They've quickly become my go-to choice for daily training runs and longer races. The combination of comfort and support makes them stand out in the crowded world of running shoes. If you're looking for a shoe that promotes natural foot movement and provides a smooth ride, I highly recommend giving the Altra FWD Experience a try.

I do not own this shoe yet, but the 4mm "Drop" is PERFECT for Plantar Fasciitis - if the Stack Height is not too great!

Great shoe. Better than the Torin 7. The shoe seems like the materials are good quality. The foam is perfect as you get a little squish but it's firmer than soft which I like. Buy .5 - 1 size bigger than whatever you are in the Torin 7 or Rivera 3. The shoe runs short. It's very Topo like.

I was recently provided this pair of Men's Altra FWD running shoes for review, and I couldn't be happier with them. These shoes offer exceptional comfort and support during my runs. The wide toe box allows for natural toe splay, which reduces discomfort and enhances stability. The lightweight design and responsive cushioning make each stride feel effortless. Plus, the modern, sleek look of the shoes is a bonus. If you're looking for a comfortable and stylish pair of running shoes, the Altra FWD is an excellent choice. These are honestly the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had!

I enjoyed testing the Altra FWD sneaker and thought the sneaker fits my foot perfectly that i had to look down time to time to actually make sure i have the sneaker still intact due to comfortability. I think the Altra FWD sneaker is a comfortable & lightweight sneaker and I will continue using it from time to time. Although, the only downside, is that the foam is not so bouncy, but the midsole is very soft. The shoe's plush underfoot protection & lighter weight made it a perfect option for my daily run needs.

Amazing fit -- true to size; roller/rocker frame makes stride simpler; super comfortable and lighter than a feather. Feet felt great after 10 mile race. These are my go-to race shoe going forward.

Standard fit size 11 Men's is true to size even if a bit narrow. Overall shoe is extremely impressive. Rocker shape with low drop provides moderately firm but very responsive ride. Design also on point

As someone who has worked for altra over 5yrs, I feel like this shoe is way past due. But, better late than never! I'm glad a low drop option is finally here and every person I've had try this shoe on feels the same way. Some have asked how this is different than other low drop shoes on the market. The footshape is still there so you're getting that toe splay and health benefits unlike most other brands. I've mostly walked around in the Fwd Experience and the step-in feel and overall comfort is like a mix between the Torin and Escalante. I can't wait to really break this shoe in on my winter road runs soon!

I've always been hesitant to try Altras, until this shoe. I've always been a fan of lower drop shoes and after brooks did away with their pure line, this has been the shoe I'll be using to replace it.

This is a great trainer for those looking for a transition to zero drop or have just been hesitant of trying zero drop. Nice rocker, light, good upper fit. I'm stoked!

Been an Altra fan for years but the switch from typical ~8mm drop to 0 drop has always been tricky for me. Excited for a 4mm option and to see how Altra keeps expanding their toolbox. *Altra employee

I am an avid road runner in the mountains. These shoes have been outstanding. I have put 75 miles on them so far with NO Achilles issues, no calf strains, and no hot spots. The 4mm drop seems perfect. My new forever running shoes. Love them!

What has been lacking in my shoe rotation is a pair from Altra that can provide some relief, a recovery shoe of sorts, from my high weekly mileage. These provide a great counter to my Escalante's

I absolutely love this shoe! The feel of the push off is great with the toe rocker and the cushion is awesome with a firmer midsole too. Feels great on speed work and mellow runs. Great transition shoe!

Feels great as a moderate distance running shoe or a casual wear walking shoe.
I have worked for Altra for 10 years and this is in the top 3 most comfortable shoes in that time.

I've loved adding the FWD Experience into my shoe rotation. Step-in fit is amazing and it feels effortless on my runs whether it's an easy few miles, or when picking up the pace for some tempo work. As an Altra employee, I'm in the shoes all the time, I typically run in the Torin or Rivera on the roads, but the FWD Experience offers a different kind of ride and I definitely feel the rocker shape, which comes in handy on tired legs or when throwing in some faster miles. The toe box feels nice and roomy for my toes, and the upper is very plush, but light. Plus, they look pretty sweet too! I'm excited to have a versatile shoe like this moving forward!

Love everything about this shoe. Fit, cushion, and the 4mm drop is a nice change of pace from my traditional Torin I normally wear on the road. This is definitely a shoe for everyone.
