I am a fan of the escalante and was looking for a show that is a little easier on the feet for high miles and long runs. I found these shoes and they are excellent. Same feel and fit as the escalante 3 with more cushion/ floor protection. The cushion isn't overly soft. Secure yet comfortable for. Tread pattern is minimal keeping the shoe light. Keep an open mind about the 4mm drop. It's still a very minimal drop. Try them!

I have really challenging feet and finding a shoe that I can dance or walk in has been impossible. This new 4mm launch has done the trick. With a specific lace tie I can use a thin arch support insole and have my heel not lift (which is a constant struggle with insoles). I will buy this shoe again!

By far, this is my the best shoe purchase I have ever made! The ONLY thing I would change/add more color selection. I want more pairs! I wore them,so far, to the gym, on the bike/run path, and for a day at work- I stand and walk all day. I felt so good, I took a walk, in the same shoe, after working. I would always change my shoes after work for a workout because of how tired my feet were! 11/10!

Good running shoes. I’m a fan of altra running shoes because of low offset or zero drop. These have 5mm offset. Use these for daily running. I am 6’3, 205 lbs and wear a size 13. Wide toe box is very important for me so I prefer either altra or more recently Topo athletic

I have run a 50K and a 100K in these shoes. Love them! I have wanted a wider toe box, but I needed the .4mm drop. These shoes are a game changer. No blisters on any of my races. Just awesome!

Hello, I am a 56 year old novice runner from Boston. This past autumn I took up running to help cope with the loss of my wife. I purchased the AltraFWD Experience as my first running shoes. Being a novice runner, I didn't understand how important your shoes are to the sport. I enjoyed running in these shoes so much I bought a second pair. The comfortable fit along with the open toe box make a huge difference in my training. It is with the help of these running shoes that I will be participating in my first Boston Marathon this coming April! Thank You Altra

The fit is perfect, the toe box comfortable, and the 4mm drop is just the right amount. One suggestion: use the lace lock technique for the top two holes to really secure your heel. 99/100 WELL DONE!

Love these shoes for running and boot camp style workouts with running. I have used Altras for years for workouts, rucking and casual tennis shoes. These are different with the slightly off standard zero drop, 4mm I believe and find them a very nice in between for running, but also would be a great show for straight boot camp style workouts with some running because they also have good stability, like other Altras you might be used to.

I've always run in low support shoes, but turning 30 is too real... I've tried a few different brands that offer support and all have felt clunky and slowed me down and/or were too narrow. This showed solved all of my problems. It's super comfortable, does not feel heavy while running, and does not have the awkward rocker feeling like with Ons. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Sat down at a store not expecting to purchase Altra. Hoka was too narrow. Brooks was good width but the Altra satisfied all criteria.

The new concept of 4mm drop and rocker style outsole, brought me over to Altra. Nice looking shoe. After 80 miles, shows little wear. Well made

Been waiting for Altra to come out with a shoe like this. Have Saucony Endorphin Shift's and like the zero'ish drop and rocker bottom but the toe box is too narrow and they're too stiff/tall to walk around in. These are the perfect amount of cushion. Cushioned, but still plenty of work for the feet. The only thing I wish for would be a slightly wider toe box so I can wear with toe spacers. Very excited about these though.

I have used these shoes to referee college basketball and have loved what they offer. Lightweight. Stability on direction changes. Rocker shape. Very response. I highly recommend for anyone who like a comfort shoe but is looking for more of a performance feel. Soft step, but firm roll through your running motion. Very pleased with how my knees, back, and feet feel after hours of running on the hard gym floors. I'm a 28 year athlete that stays in great shape but the wear and tear of running can cause discomfort in the knees over time. I'm very pleased to say that these shoes have assisted in maintaining my performance and optimizing my recovery! Highly recommend.

To the skeptics (Hoka and Saucony purists), this shoe is worthy of rotation! After running in 10 other models of Altra (95% road miles), these are absolutely my go-to for the longer jaunts. Impressed!

The Altra FWD Experience is a stylish running shoe that's in the Goldilocks Zone. Not too much cushion, not too firm. Not too much toe box room, not too cramped either. Everything is just right!

Full disclosure, I am more of a trail runner because I am above average weight and height so the trails are typically kinder to my legs and joints. I typically wear the lone peak and have been for atleast the past 5 years. The FWD Experience may have opened up a new world for me and given me back the ability to run distance on the road with minimal pain. The foot shaped toe box is perfect, as expected, but the Cush and drop is engineered to perfection. No knee pain and feeling "strong" on the kick. Now I can only hope they are bringing this design to the trails.

I have owned several pair of Altras. For road running, the FWD Experience are THE most comfortable shoe I have ever wornEVER. The FootShape allows the toes to splay and the drop pushes you forward!

Had to buy a half size up and it's been great! Needed a shoe that can do a little of everything as part of my rotation. Have used it for recovery runs, tempo, speed, and some long runs! Recommend!

I've had a few months to put some miles into the FWD Experience and they have made for a great lightweight everyday trainer with the classic toe box from Altra, I would definitely recommend them!

Part of my rotation of shoes and have become more of my go to. I have runs up to half marathon in them and they are very comfortable. I'm getting ready to order another pair. I have run in other ALTRAS and I like this option with the subtle drop as opposed to a zero drop.

I used Altra for years but the zero drop started to cause heel and tendon issues. At the recommendation of my doctor, I switched to Topo since they had a 4mm drop shoe. I tried Hoka but way too narrow. When I saw that Altra had come out with with a minimal drop shoe, I had to try them. Right out of the box these were a great fit. I have about 30 miles on them and have no issues. Great job Altra!
