The TORIN 7's have taken a solid performance shoe that differentiated itself in the marketplace and made it the same as everyone else. If you are a mid-forefoot runner, who needs flexibility in the forefoot, these shoes will leave you numb and sore. Very disappointed in the changes to the last and sole. You just made an Altra into a Hoka. What you gained you lost in your niche market. Bring back your TORIN 6's.

I have loved my Altras. The Escalante is one of my favorite shoes. Ever. But, I'm getting older and my feet seem like they may desire more cushion, so I went with the Torin. Unfortunately, these are truly the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever experienced. Even walking around the house to casually get a feel for them, they were unbearable. Immediate return. Don't get me started on Altra's customer service. It took 20+ days to receive a return label and I'm still waiting over two weeks for my return to be processed. If I order your shoes again, it will never be directly from the Altra site again. Terrible experience.

A couple of years ago I found the Torin 6. I have had foot issues for years, and it was the first shoe that I could wear that didn't hurt my feet. I loved them!!! I bought them in a neutral color, wore them every day, and bought over and over again every time they wore out. Then they moved to the Torin 7. With no other option, I bought the Torin 7 recently. They hurt my feet! I am extremely disappointed and saddened. For two years I had shoes that worked! Now I have to start searching again.

I'm an avid runner. I wore these shoes for about 5 different runs for varied mileage. Although the toe box is roomy, the midfoot area is very tight, and not improved with different lacing techniques. I have slight bunions and I found after a few miles some hot spots forming that caused my feet to go numb. There also seemed to be a discrepancy in construction between the right and left shoes.
The website claims that there's a 30 day return policy "no questions asked" but this is not true. I was told that they could not be returned.
All in all: poor service, false information on the website regarding returns, and poor construction of the shoes themselves. Never again Altra.

I love my Torin 6 shoes. My Torin 7's... not so much. The upper around the ankle is much too high and stiff. It jams into my ankle bone. Even after slipping in some sorbothane in the heal area in an attempt to raise my ankle bone higher above the shoes edge... it still jammed me and tore the skin. Then... there's the heel itself. It took the skin right off the back of my heel ( approx. 1 inch^2 ). Not just the surface skin, but... all the way down. I couldn't wear shoes for two weeks. Then... I had to use some bandaging with holes cut in it for the next few weeks. It was well over a month before I could run again.
Overall, I love the Altras... but the Torin 7... at least my pair... is an anatomical horror story for me.

As soon as I started running in the Torin 7's they immediately started rubbing the outside bottoms of my ankles. They are completely unwearable for me. Very disappointed as I have only been wearing Altras for the past several years. I have never had this problem with any other running shoes.

I've been running with Altras for several years, from Intuition then eventually Torins. I can say that the 7's are garbage, and it seems the Torins get gradually worse with every new line. It feels as if Altra is trying to reinvent the wheel to be Hoka, instead of sticking with what know and what they do best. The whole reason I switched to Altra was I needed the wider toe box when my foot shape changed after pregnancy. The Torin 7 feels stiff (not always a bad thing), but overly tight in the midsole. The new cut of the ankle is awful and rubs the bottom of my outside ankle to a very uncomfortable level. I'd sooner give them to my dog for a chew toy then put these back in my feet and risk injury.

I am extremely disappointed in the quality of these expensive shoes. Within a few months there were holes in the heels of the shoes. I was told they cannot replace it. DO NOT EVER BUY THIS BRAND!

I've been a faithful wearer of the Altra Torin since the 1.5, and this is the first version that is completely unwearable for me. The level of cushion seemed like it would have been wonderful, unfortunately the changes to the upper have me looking for a new shoe. The upper is now so tight across the top of my foot that my toes go to sleep within a few minutes of putting them on. There has also been a change to the ankle area where the cut-out for the ankle bone doesn't align correctly, and rubs my ankle bone (the left is worse than the right, for some reason). Heartbroken to say goodbye to years of wearing the Torin.

I loved the torin 5's and Torin 6's. But the Torin 7's are horrible. I wear a 8.5 wide and the Torin 7''s are to tight across the top of my foot. I even bought a she stretcher to see if I could stretch them, and they would stretch. So Altra needs to go back to the 5 and 6 style in the Torins . The only thing good about the 7's was the tongue it was hard.

This is my second pair of Torin. I had Torin 6 and loved them, but after having them about 90 days I noticed a tear in the fabric. I am not hard on my shoes anyway, thankfully I could return them. I patiently waited until the Torin 7 came out because I did love the fit and thought the one pair was just a bad pair. I have had the Torin 7 since they came out but as you can see from the pictures I'm not hard on them, the lettering is still in tact and the shoe looks fairly new with the exception of the tear in the same spot as my Torin 6. Unfortunately these shoes cannot be returned. I will NOT buy another pair of Torins.

I bought this shoe for walking. I've only worn them a handful of times and the fabric in the center of the heel in both shoes is disintegrating which caused a blister. I play tennis 3-4 times a week and that's never happened no matter what brand of athletic shoe I've owned. I will never buy this brand again because these shoes are too expensive for something like that to happen.

Absolutely terrible. Toes are numb. Morton's neuroma flaring up. Cut off circulation in my feet all day. Altra, listen to your customers. New standard foot shape is AWFUL. I will not be recommending these to ANYONE. DO NOT BUY.

I love ALTRA shoes, but I feel the fabric on the Torin 7 is flawed. The sides, right by the ball of my foot, tore exactly on the wave style burnout of the fabric. The right shoe is worse than the left. I don't believe it is a fit issue--I love the feel and comfort of the shoe. I am going to buy ALTRA shoes again, but I am going to carefully scrutinize the fabric and the design.

My husband and I both tried these out, both found they were cut way too high on the outer ankle, couldn't run more than a mile in them w/o rubbing hard on ankles.

I have purchased Torins for years. They always fit me well with no break-in time. This year I struggled to get past the colors and ordered a black and a pink pair. The pink was a bit much, so I settled on the black, though I didn't like the look and feeling of my feet in black, especially with the big white soles. I was willing to suck it up, but then, despite the good fit, every so often, there was a sharp edge that would dig into my outer side ankle. The pink ones did the same. So I had to return both. I couldn't wear them so I rate them at 1.
Then I ordered Timp 5 in green and tan, which was more of a pink than tan. They were wide through the ball of the foot and the front buckled when I walked and I couldn't get past the icky green or pink color. I ordered the Timp 4 they fit the same way as the 5 with an addition of an eyelet reinforcement rubbing on my left inner instep that is painful. They are in a blue color that I like. I rate them all at 1. So far I have kept them. Now I am past the return date and hoping I can figure out how to deal with the eyelet rubbing, toe buckling, and wideness, or call Altra and beg to return them. Then I would have no more high cushion zero drop shoes to try. Altra, please do better!

The cut is off on the right shoe. The shoe cuts into the bottom of my ankle bone with each step. Can't wear due to this.

First off I got a wide which is why the width is okay. If I'd gotten standard size it wouldn't have worked. Second, they're an okay shoe but they aren't as good as the Torin 5. The thing that bothers me the most is that the tongue of the shoe bunches up which both looks stupid and feels annoying. They could have made them with a stiffer but still soft design. Also the brands appliqu started coming off within the first two months. I've wanted zero drop shoes but I don't know about these anymore. There are just too many issues for me to feel good them. I also tried to attach a photo but the website wouldn't load it.

Not to be dramatic but these are awful. They are so much narrower than previous Torins which is unexpected and disappointing coming from Altra. The sides of my feet went numb within 15 minutes walking. I loosened the laces as much as I could but then the heel pops out with every step. It got so bad that I took these off 3/4 into my walk and walked the rest of the way with just my socks on.

This review is for the Torin 6. I've been wearing Altras for years now and have always been an advocate despite the shoes in general not lasting very long. But I have put less than 200 miles on my Torin 6, and the inside of the heel has multiple holes worn in it and all the padding has worn down. I would return them if I could. This did not happen with my Torin 5s or any of the Lone Peaks I had worn previously, so it must be the cheap fabric and padding on the new heel design. Beyond disappointed.

I used to love these. Now they are too small. I even tried a half size up, but when I did, they were way too big.

I will never wear Torins again since they are no longer as wide as they used to be, and the toe box has considerably less volume. My pinky toe fell asleep 60 seconds after walking around my living room. This shoe used to be so comfortable, and now it feels just like all the other shoes that hurt my feet. Altra appears to be abandoning the reason it was created. RIP original Torins, RIP our feet.

After running in Saucony Triumph for like 15 years I suddenly started getting a severe burning sensation in the ball of my feet when running. Tried heaps of different running shoes, getting cortisone injections, buying all kinds of insoles to try to solve the problem, but nothing helped.
Then I met the Altra Torin 3.5 and it was love at first sight!
This shoe literally saved my feet and my running and I loved them, bought several pairs.
Since then the reviews for Torin has not been that good so I switched over to Provision and Rivera. They both served me well but not as Torin 3.5.
This year I decided to go back to the shoe model that started my love for Altra, and bought a pair of Torin 7.
Love the color (yellow/blue), love the looks ... hate the shoe!!!
After running about 3k / 2 miles in them the burning sensation that this model once saved me from come back with full force. Almost started crying because of the pain!!
Clearly there been a change in the sole material or thickness / stiffness.
Really sad about this, dont really know what to do next.
Planned to use these shoes for the run in my next IronMan, but ... well, NO!!!!
I guess my old Rivera has to step up to the start line one more time.
