Excellent fit out of the box. I need a wide 2E on size 7 shoe. I'm able to replace the lining with my orthotic and wear slightly thicker merino wool socks all year round. I walk about 3 miles a day and this shoe is perfect for comfort. Only con are the black shoelaces. There is a white trim that gets twisted when the laces are pulled tighter. Also, since I walk at a slow pace as a Senior, I do not lace them to the top. Hence the laces are very long when tied to the 5th eyelet. I will probably cut the ends and put a shoelace keeper on them. Will never have to "tie" them again. I've done that with my last 3 Brooks Ariels. It's nice that the shoelaces seem to have more elasticity and not flat with this model. I won't have to replace them with rounder types.

These shoes have been great for walking . I'm older and have some problems with plantar fasciitis so it has taken me a while to find a shoe that is comfortable and supportive enough. I wear an 8.5 women's shoe but I prefer my athletic shoes a half size larger; this shoe in a 9B fit me well. I got the aqua color for myself (love it!) and the black for my sister.
I'd also recommend:
I also like New Balance athletic shoes

I am NOT a runner. Brooks Ariel was recommended by my doctor for debilitating back pain, and they do help a lot. They are the only shoes I can wear all day. My favorite thing about the new version is the tongue is sewn in such a way that it doesn't shift while wearing the shoe. My only complaint is I usually have to buy every color twice before a new version comes out. I'd appreciate seeing more color choices, more often.

I wear a size 8 1/2 and these fit perfect. I am not a runner so I can't talk about that but these are really comfortable to wear all day for me.... I have hammer toes and bunnions otherwise I probably wouldn't spend this much money on a pair of shoes... I love them

I have a problem finding shoes that feel good with my high instep. These feel wonderful! I have not been able to run in a while due to knee problems, but these are definitely perfect for walking and building my strength back. I power walk at our local public park and my feet never hurt and my knees don't hurt either when I am wearing these shoes. The support on the bottom of my feet, and the support on the sides is perfect. I definitely recommend these shoes

About 15 years ago, I snapped my left foot in half and was crippled for the next six years until I had a triple arthrodesis surgery. My foot is completely fused, so it became impossible to find a shoe that I could even wear. My doctor told me to get the Arials. I have bought so many over the past years as for several years, it was the only shoe I could even wear. I love the new Ariel GTS 23. I find the cushioning better than the older style, and the back of the shoes does not cave in like the last version. This shoe is fantastic!

Stability plus cushion. The shoe is comfortable out of the box. It seems to be a bit narrower in the Medium width than the previous version (20)

It is so nice to see a new fresh color in the Ariel. They are comfortable, fit well and work for me. They have slightly less cushion than the last pair I bought but they will do the job. I've purchased more than 10 pair of Ariels over the years and although I've tried others I keep coming back.

I am not a runner. I have a stress fracture in my left foot and one developing in my right foot. My podiatrist wrote down 5 shoes that he said would stabilize my foot to help prevent further damage. While I am told to stay off my feet, let's face it , that is impossible. These shoes were and are amazing from the moment I tried them on. And I tried on every shoe on the list. I also have been wearing New Balance 990s for the past 3 years. This shoe is amazing for me!

Great shoes, I stand at work and run around the rest of the day. They have good support and enough cushion to keep me comfortable.

I usually wear an 8.5 in women’s shoes. These were best at a size 9. I have a pair of Ariel 18 (for 2018). I love the support . These new Ariel GTS23 (for 2023) are just as supportive. I have plantar fasciitis and arthritic big toes(I’ve logged a lot of miles of these feet in 67 years). I needed something with good support , stability, and cushioning. I do put my own orthotics in them but I wore them with the supplied insole and my own. Both were very comfortable. The color is a nice teal green. I wish they had white. The grey one is very drab. But color is not as important as finding great comfortable shoes.

I've been wearing this type of shoes for years. The times I have changed to other styles with less cushion my knees hurt so much. This is the reason I keep coming back to Ariel GTS!

Have worn this style exclusively for many many years, and boy is the new turquoise and improvement! Already ordered a second pair, and might order more if they weren’t already out of stock.

Although not a runner these days, I believe that I have great insight into shoes. I am an educator who moves between buildings each day and averages over 10,000 steps in the process. I only wear outstanding shoes. I loved the Ariel 20 and these are even better. I love that the Ariel GTS 23 are even lighter. I love the option of a mainly black color because I have to wear these to work. The structure is a wonderful balance of cushion and firmness. Unstable ankles and flexible flat feet need the firmness. Bunions, metatarsalgia, and neuromas need the cushion. If you have a narrow heel, the shoe is designed to keep your heel supported. The soft upper is gentle on problem joints. The line between support for the side of the foot and the softness of the front is in exactly the right spot.
