Right away the arch in front of my inner heel felt as though it dug into my foot arch, the instep and sole are raised and rub. I also tried the bondi and both arches felt like ridges against my inner foot. Toe box and cushion were great one wide one not so it wasn't a width problem.

They seem so wide in the front and I know we ordered regular. Sometimes I feel like a duck walking.

I have worn out a pair of Bondi 8, so decided to try the Gaviota 5 to get a little more stability. Sadly, this pair actually gave me foot pain. Compared to the Bondi 8, the Gaviota feels about 1/2 size larger, and I did like the extra room in the toes. However, I would not size down. I love Hoka's return policy! I'm returning these for another pair of Bondi 8's.

I wanted to love this shoe, I had read it was good for stability which I need! My R foot is a little larger and my big toe did rub end of shoe too much but the big issue was the side of the shoe rubbed my ankle on the inside of my foot, too much it was making it sore in just a little while. I was trying them in the house to see if I could see the stability I read about. So unfortunately I returned these and ordered a pair of ON , I hope they work!

These would be fantastic if not for the piece of elastic that attached the tongue to the sole along the tender part of one’s inner arch. That stretch of elastic immediately began to rub through my socks to cause irritation within the first few paces with these on. Had that been attached in a different way, I might have kept these. For now, I am stuck with a Hoka-like model from NB.

I have 2 pairs of the Gaviota 4 & absolutely love them. You completely changed the shoe up. I had to go down a 1/2 size & they are still a little wide. I walk a lot with my job & need the cushion & stability. I have been wearing HOKAS for 10 years. If all the models keep changing this much, I will have to start looking elsewhere.

If you're expecting the same type of stability and fit of Gaviota 3 or 4 this is not it. I have worn the same type of HOKA for several years now that used to be great for my stability and helpful with my ankle and knee injury. The 5 is very loose around the ankle and my feel slide more in the shoe and the support on the sole doesn't feel quite the same. Maybe going down half a size may have been helpful with the way it feels.

I used the online size guide and the shoes I ordered were two sizes too big.

I have to agree with some other folks here, Hoka messed up this model. I adore the Gaviota 3, I bought several pairs knowing they would update the model. I've finally worked my way through those and bought the 5 in the same size. 6.5 W. I was swimming in it, both length and width. If you've never ordered Hokas before, I would recommend sizing down and try the regular width, even if you have a wide foot.

I like that the laces on the Gaviota 5 aren't as slippery as the Gaviota 4, but I do not like the new shoe. I loved the stiffer sole of the 4. The 5 has much more give and starts to hurt my foot after walking distances.

The shoes felt really good but looked ridiculous. The toe box was so wide and round and bulbous, they look like clown shoes.

I have been purchasing Hoka Bondi for many years and was extremely disappointed that many of the Hoka shoes were reworked which DOES NOT work for me. I need the original product cushioning since I have many orthopedic injuries including my spinal cord . A representative suggested I try the Gaviota 5 which I purchased . This shoe does not have the same cushioning I need. The changes in the heal/toe definitely don't meet my needs. There are no other options for me regarding Hoka. You say the shoes were reworked with lighter keeping the same cushioning. WRONG! IT'S NOT THE SAME! !!

I liked this shoe, however the 11 wide was way too wide and the 11 medium fits like a standard medium, which I can't usually wear. I thought it would fit in the medium because the wide was SO wide and thought maybe they all ran bigger. Wrong. The sizing for the wide seems a bit off from the standard 11 wide.

These looked big out of the box. The length was fine but they were super wide. They run much wider than my arahi 7's

I was excited to try this running shoe, but when I opened the box and tried one on - it was at Least a full size larger! HOKA, if there are sizing differences based on feedback, please note them in the description!

I came across hokas because my boyfriend has problems with his feet. I really enjoyed the 3 pairs of shoes I have bought. I bought the new gaviota 5 thinking it would fit like the 4's. NO!!! The toe area is way to wide and the comfort foam seemed harder and the h stabilizer that I really loved due to me being a massage therapist and pivoting a lot on my toes was not very comfortable at all

The Gaviota 5 seems to be a sturdy shoe but it did not have enough cushioning to make me think of replacing my Bondi 6 with that shoe. In addition, I found it to be very unattractive, with an almost rounded toe box. It looked clownish to me. I had to send them back.

I think these run a bit bigger than the Gaviota 4 and seem a bit more clumbsy. I think the 4's offer more stability.

They are super wide on the toes even though I didn't purchase the wide style. Not as comfortable as the Gaviota 4. Pretty disappointing . Gaviota 4 is the best. Now I have to start shopping other brands for a comfortable shoe.

These were very comfortable, however, the toe box was very wide. They also were pretty large in general and felt very bulky. Still lightweight though! I ended up exchanging for a different style.

The previous version of this shoe was perfect for my feet. I ordered a 9B in this shoe. The new version is way too wide in the outside toe area. At least a quarter of an inch extra space. I would think that HOKA would have widened only the wide version of this shoe. Very disappointed.

I love the cushion the shoes provide when walking but one of the shoe bottom has a thin layer of material starting to peel off. It has not been a month yet and the shoes are expensive.
