I haven't bought sneakers in a while, but I needed a pair to wear at work as I am on my feet about half the day depending on what I am doing, and my friends recommended this brand. when I first tried them on they felt a bit small but were longer than my toes, so I was worried that they would not work. I have found them to work great. I wore them to the state fair this week (which is probably 6 hours or so of just walking) and my feet did ache a bit afterwards, but I am not sure if that was the shoes or if that was the walking for 6 hours. So far they have been like walking on clouds at work. I have been wearing them for about a week and a half so far, so I will report back in a few months if things change. But so far I would definitely recommend.

I use this product for walking and working out at the gym. It is true to size, has great cushioning and is a good looking shoe inspite of being bulky. However, it appears that the shoe's arch support is not aligned properly and thus causing pain when walking. I'm considering returning them. In addition, I am unable to fit my specialized foot pad in the shoe and a larger size would be TOO big I will continue to wear this show until I find a better fit, Hopefully through HOKA. Overall, I think its a great shoe.

This style shoe has been my go to "getting around town" shoe since i was first introduced to HOKA several years ago. My heels are still very happy on my morning power walks. There doesn't seem to be quite as much attention to cushioning the ball of the foot. As an older active person this is a big comfort issue. I definitely want style but my older feet need the cushioning beyond the heel strike zone.

The Gaviota 5 has a lot more room in the toes and forefoot than the Gaviota 4. For me, it is too much room. It makes the shoes sort of unstable (I use on trails as well as on the road). Had to send them back and not sure what I’m going to do now.

I use to wear a Bondi 7 size 9 Wide with my orthotics. Due to the negative reviews I read of the Bondi 8, I ordered the Hoka Gaviota 5 sizes 9 Wide and 9 B. My feet floated around in the Gaviota 9 Wide, so I went with the Gaviota 9 B. Gaviota does not have the same cushion as a Bondi 7 but I still am hesitant to order the Bondi 8.

I like the Gaviota almost as much as the Bondi8. I use the Gaviota's for power walking about 50km or so every week on +100 degrees Mississippi pavement & I used my worn out Bondi8 for disc golf. I'm AARP aged & during the times I have tripped, these shoes caught traction every time thankfully. I tried a different brand than HOKA recently and they hurt my blistered toes so badly that I returned them immediately & purchased the Gaviotas. I hope these last at least a year for me on hot pavement like the Bondi did.

So disappointed love my 4 but this gaviato 5 is longer and wider. So now I don't know if I should go down half size, decrease width or both. Currently wear 9 wide and ordered 9 wide

These are my power walking shoes. Two to three miles a day. They are not as "plush" as you advertise. Can't tell much difference between these and my Clifton's or bondis. Except the price.

The Hoka shoes are great for walking. The Orange color does not go with anything. It would be nice if Hoka would brign back the traditional Tan color. In a sturdy fabric.

The size of the toe bed is wonderful, but the size across the instep is so tight it's almost impossible for me to get the shoe on my foot. I don't know whether a larger size would help this problem, but I'm going to visit a nearby store so I can try them on before buying them.

The difference between medium and wide in the Hoka is considerable. The mediums I have were to narrow so I figured I'd just get a wide but these are too wide everywhere. The toe box looked like clown shoes - way too wide. Just not going to work.

My husband bought me a size 6 when I ususally wear a size 5. However they do fit but the shoe has a very wide appearance. We call them my clodhoppers.

This shoe is good but not great. The tread wears down quickly. My main complaint is that it needs a wider toe box. The shoe has a wide footprint but the actual area for the foot needs more toe room. I did size up a half size for this shoe (I normally wear an 8.5-9 but purchased a 9.5.. An even larger size or a wide width shoe did not fit, so that is not the problem.

These show the dirt, so I would choose a different color.

Makes my feet look like I am wearing clown shoes with the large toe area. The stripes add to the clown-look.. They may be big in the toe area but I like the stability and this old lady isn't likely to fall down in these super wide shoes. I bought a pair of gray shoes and the stripes are more subtle. I have flat feet and I like the arch support in these shoes. I don't care if I look like a clown in these shoes, they really feel good with more cushioning and more stability..

Fit is great but the width seems wider than my Gaviota 4s. Not that big of a problem but when tied, I have a ripple at the botton of the lace. Gaviotas are still my go-to shoe, though. Hoping this will be corrected.

I like to walk and my heart was broken when the Bondi 7 was replaced with the Bondi 8 (do not like the gigantic sole) so I looked at the other Hoka shoes. The Gaviota was the closest for comfort comparing it with many other brands so I wore it on a trip with lots of walking. It was not comfortable enough for an all day trip and I'll just use it for a gym shoe. It's got a large toe box and is very stable and the black with a white sole is as good as it gets for a travel walking shoe . I've taken my Bondi 7s around the world with no problem. Luckily, the Bondi 7 is back for a while and I've bought three pair in wide - love them!! I will try the Gaviota with a footbed replacement which has always extended the life of my shoes and hope to get more wear.

This was my first Hoka. I was thrilled with the cushioning and the comfort of the shoe at first. Then I wore it to Egypt. After walking for a while my foot seems to be sliding forward and my middle toe was getting stubbed, to the point of bruising the nail on both feet. Much as I like the shoe I cannot wear it for long periods of time. It was too late to return. So I'm a bit disappointed, I can wear this only for short times.

I got this style on a recommendation from Fleet Feet and they are comfortable except I'm not sure this is the right style for the issues I have with my feet
